♥ MUSIC FICTION >>> AGAINST ALL ODDS >>> CHAPTER 019

"Do you see them?" Scott asked, parking the car on the street outside the park. I looked around for them. "There they are," I said, pointing towards a large tree that Mandi and Diana were sitting under.

"Where's the others?" Clint asked. "They're playing with JJ," Dave said, pointing them out. Scott walked over to Diana and Mandi while the Clint grinned evilly. "How about we surprize em?" he asked with a grin.

I grinned back. "Sounds good," I grinned. "On the count of three," Dave grinned, "One... two... three!" The three of us took off running for them. Clint grabbed Christy around her waist and she squealed in surprize, laughing as she saw it was him. Dave creeped up silently behind Attie and grabbed her around the waist, pulling her close real fast and grinning. "Gotcha!" he laughed as she jumped and smacked his arm with a playful smile.

I grinned and picked Nycto up whn she wasn't looking and she jumped in surprize as I picked her up easily in my arms. "Bob!" she laughed, "You scared the shit outta me!"

I grinned. "That was the point!" She laughed and I put her down. "Us guys are taking you girls out to dinner, no questions asked," I informed her. She smiled and saluted me playfully. "Aye aye captin," she laughed. I grinned. She had a great sense of humor.

I creeped up behind Diana and motioned for Mandi to be quiet as she spotted me. I put my hands over Diana's eyes and said in a deep voice, "Guess who." She laughed softly. "Hmm... it wouldn't happen to be someone named Scott Moffatt, would it?" she asked.

I grinned and moved my hands from her eyes and sitting beside her. "You are too good," I grinned, "How do you do it?" She smiled. "I have many skills," she grinned, "And what brings you and your lovely brothers here?"

"Well," I grinned, "We're taking you girls out to dinner, wether you want to or not." She smiled.

"That sounds good to me." I smiled back and wrapped an arm around her shoulders and pulled her close to me. She scooted over so she sat between my legs, her back against my chest and her head against my shoulder as I leaned against the tree.

The others came over and sat down on the blanket. "I heard that you guys are taking us girls out to dinner, no questions asked," Attie laughed, slinging her arm playfully around Dave's shoulders.

"You heard right," I grinned.

I didn't really want to go to the dinner with them. It was nothing against any of them, but I'd be the odd one out. Everyone had their special someone to go with except for me. I sighed. They were so lucky. Especially Scott and Diana. She told me they'd been dating for a few years now.

And it was obvious how much they were in love. I silently wondered if I would ever find someone like that for myself. I sighed. Might as well decline the invitation now.

I smiled and glanced over at Mandi. Then a thought hit me. She would be the odd one out. There was Diana and Scott, me and Dave, Bob and Nycto and Christy and CT. I didn't want Mandi to feel left out, but I didn't want her to not go. "Hey Mandi, why not call Mitch and ask him to go?" I asked her, just as she was about to decline their invitation to go out.

She paused and thought for a moment. "Well, okay," she said finally, "Can I borrow your phone to call?"

I nodded and pulled my cell out of my pocket and handed it to her. She smiled and thanked me as we got up and went to the bathroom for some privacy. After a few minutes she returned with a smile.

"He agreed to go, and he said he'd be here in a few minutes," Mandi informed us and I smiled.

"That's great!"
