♥ MUSIC FICTION >>> AGAINST ALL ODDS >>> CHAPTER 006

*Atlantica*

I sat down on a swing and pushed myself back and forth slowly. I'd finished my clarinet practice ages ago and went to ring Mandi, only to realise I didn't have her phone number. Last time I'd seen her she told me that every Friday afternoon she took JJ to the park.

"Hey Atlantica!" Cam Mandi's voice from behind me. I stood up and turned around.

"Hi! I was hoping you'd be here today!" I grinned as JJ hopped up on the swing.

"Push me mummy!" He said and tried to swing himself back and forth. Mandi laughed and started to push him gently.

"Are you doing anything tonight?" I asked.

"Nope, why?" She answered as JJ squealed in delight.

"Well, I'm going ice skating with my youth group tonight and I was wondering if you wanted to come with me."

"I dunno, what about JJ?"

"He can come! They have these little ice skates. He can be my skating partner, won't you JJ?" I asked. He nodded, even though he had no idea what I just said.

"Well then, we'd love to," Mandi grinned.

"Cool! It starts at seven, do you need a lift?" I asked brushing some of my curls out of my face.

"No, it's the skate rink on the corner of Rhoads and Jefferson hey?" She asked as JJ laughed.

"Yep."

"I live just near there, we'll be fine. Thanks though."

"That's okay, we can give you a lift home though, 'cause it'll be late."

"Okay."

"Pick up, pick up, pick up, pick up..." I willed Christy to answer her phone.

"Alright already!" She laughed, "I picked up!"

"About time man!" I laughed as she giggled.

"Yeah, three rings Nycto, you get more impatient every time."

I gasped, "I do not! You take that back missy!"

"Nevah!" She giggled.

"Fine then, I won't invite you to come ice skating with me, see if I care," I sniffed dramatically.

"Ever thought about taking up acting?" She laughed, "When's this skating?"

"Tonight. I totally forgot about it until Attie reminded me."

"And when will I meet this Attie you always talk about?" Christy asked.

"Tonight when you come skating with me," I answered.

"I never said I was going did I?" She teased.

"I said you have to, so... you have to."

"Do I now?"

"Yep, sorry, that's just the way it is," I laughed.

"Can I bring a friend?" She asked.

"Yep. Our youth group leader will be so pleased if heaps of people come with."

"How does five more people sound?"

"Five? Girl, when did you get five friends?" I teased.

"Oh! Total rudeness on your behalf! I'm offended!"

"Sure you are," I nodded, "I'll see you tonight at seven okay?"

"Alright, see ya."

"Bye," I hung up and grabbed my clothes and headed towards the bathroom.

I hung up the phone and turned around to face Scott and Diana who were sitting together on the couch. Diana's fingers were softly tracing Scott's tattoo on his left arm.

"You guys wanna come iceskating tonight? Christy just invited us," I asked.

"Sure, when?" Diana asked.

"Seven," I grinned at them. They'd been to the doctors to find out the sex of their baby this afternoon, but they weren't telling any of us. Knowing Scott though, the secret wouldn't be a secret for much longer. I ran up the stairs two at a time and knocked on Bob's door.
"It's open!" He called out. I opened his door and walked inside. He was lying on his stomach on his bed, reading a Spiderman comic. "What's up?"

"Wanna go ice skating tonight?" I asked.

"Sure," He nodded and pushed his labret piercing in and out of the hole in his lip.

"That's sick man," I grimaced. He giggled and stopped doing it.

"Who else is coming?" He asked.

"Well, Christy just asked us, she got asked by her friend, um..." I paused trying to think of her name, "Nycto... I think that's her name."

"Nycto?" Bob asked.

"Uh yeah, I think anyways," I shrugged. Bob frowned slightly.

"Why does that name sound familiar?" He wondered.

"Maybe she came to you in a dream," I laughed.

"Oh sure," Bob nodded sarcastically, "That's it. I dreamt her up and now she's real. You're such a dumbass Clint."

"I'm a dumbass hey?" I asked. He nodded in response and returned his attention back to his comic,

"Dude, you should know not to insult me."

"Why not?"

"We're identical."

"Only in looks, everyone knows I'm waaaay smarter than you, now piss off," He flicked his hand at me.

"Ooh, somebody's PMSing," I laughed as I walked out of his room.

"Very mature Clint!" He yelled after me. I giggled and knocked on Dave's bedroom door.

"Come in!" He yelled. I opened his door to find him at his computer checking his emails. His appearance still shocked me, with his labret, nose, tongue, tragus and eyebrow piercings. It was still a little weird. Not that it didn't look good. Just a shock from the good little Dave we were all used to.

"Wanna go iceskating?" I asked.

"Sure, when?"

"Tonight, at seven."

"Cool," He nodded and turned away from the computer screen. "Any hot chicks gonna be there?"

"Christy's coming," I answered.

"Dude, I don't like Christy like that. Any others?"

"Diana," I laughed. He rolled his eyes. "Um, Christy got invited by her frined Nycto's youth group, so yeah I'm sure there'll be some for you to look at."

"Cool," he laughed. I snorted and left his room to go get ready for tonight.
