When there did occur the great battle between Kaurava and Pandawa, Lord Krishna advised Arjuna, the great warrior and the middle aged brother of Pandwas. In the battlefield, Arjuna witnessed his nearest relatives and friends ready to fight with each other and Arjuna grieved with deep sorrow. He expressed this sadness to lord Krishna and told him that he would not fight and kill any body and he would remain standstill. He further said that under those circumstances he could not think properly as to what is wrong and right. Therefore, Arjuna requested lord Krishna, a friend, philosopher and guide to advise him and show him the path, which will lead him to light of knowledge and success.
On Arjuna’s humble request, Lord Krishna said, “It is not fair on your part to behave like this at this critical time. See that the warriors and soldiers are waiting eagerly to start war. Why are you loosing your courage and heart, when you are already a great warrior?”
Arjuna said, ”I am unhappy with deep sorrow with the thought that I have to fight with relatives about whom I have full respect. I may win the war and achieve the whole kingdom which, in my view will not be a good result.” Arjuna told Lord Krishna that he was confused as to what to do, and therefore he requested lord Krishna to advise him and to show him the right path.
Lord Krishna said, ”Arjuna, on one side you are lamenting and on the other side you are speaking a language that of a doctrine. We should not worry for those dieing or surviving. One who takes birth is to die one day. Principles upon which this universe exists cannot be changed. The soul never takes birth and so never dies. Hence Arjuna, being a Kshatriya, your prime duty is to fight this religious war, which is bestowed upon by destiny! Being a Kshatriya to fight is your religion and duty. If you die in war, you will be in heaven and if you win, you will be a master of this whole earth with fame and success.”
Go UpLord Krishna observed that Arjuna, in spite of being a great warrior, was not willing to kill his relatives in war, which as per his point of view was thrust upon him. He was moved with love and emotions for his nearest and dearest relatives and ultimately forgot that those relatives had gathered there to fight war and kill Pandwas and so also Arjuna who was moved to tears.
With a firm stand and absolutely clear views, to show right path to Arjuna in that critical situation, Lord Krishna with a smiling face said to Arjuna, ”Your duty is to do ‘Karma’ and your sight to look towards Karma should be pure. You may win this war or you may not, your prime duty is to fight this war, which is bestowed upon you by destiny and you will observe that the result will be a grand success.”
Lord Krishna further said, ”Yourself and myself have passed through many cycles of birth in the past and so we will take birth in future. The secret truth is that soul neither takes a birth nor dies. It is ignorance that makes us feel so. Souls in these warriors will never die, as souls are immortal. Their bodies of course, have their end one day or later. In this universe soul is the absolute truth. This universe came into existence from this truth only. You will realize all this in details when after deep meditation you will enjoy ‘Samadhi’.”
Arjuna asked, ”What is called deep meditation or contentment of soul or Samadhi?”
Lord Krishna said, ”One has to be without any desire and be happy and contented with his own soul. This makes one fit in a balanced mind. In a critical or fair situation, he neither becomes disturbed nor feels good. He carries on all his duties but without any expectation of fruits. He becomes non-egoistic, desire-less and unattached and becomes emerged in soul like a diluted medicine, as a result of which he remains happy with himself and enjoys real peace of mind and self-contentment. His body, mind and intellect have no separate existence, but they become inter connected with soul, which is sane, pure, and mighty, and absolute truth. Every thing within himself becomes emerged and concentrated in soul only without any passion. Like an idol of salt, one becomes immersed in the ocean of soul with deep meditation. This is called “Samadhi”, a situation beyond sorrow and happiness, but certainly with complete peace of mind, with firmness to know the real essence of life, the secret of this universe, the sacred soul, the absolute truth i.e. “GOD !”
Arjuna said, “Lord Krishna, you value intellect more than action, then why do you expect me to do the dreadful act of fighting this war? Due to this advice of yours, I am more confused. With deep faith in you, I request you to show me the right path for the betterment of my life.”
Lord Krishna said,” People have faith in two paths of life. One is that of knowledge & intellect and another is of that selfless action. But in my point of view action is greater than knowledge, but that action should be without expectation of fruits. Because Arjuna, no one in this universe can exist without movement of action. Every living creation is governed by certain quality, which forces one to act in the living presence. You are also governed by the same rule. Being a Kshatriya, your prime duty is to fight war and so fight like a great warrior and do not think to run away from it.
Please understand that these animals and living generations are created from food, which is created from rain. Rain falls due to Yadna, which takes place because of Karma i.e. action. Karma is created from MAYA i.e. Brahma which comes into existence from infinite OM i.e. supreme soul. This is the great cycle of this universe, which is nothing but the manifestation of soul. This cycle should have motion, which we have to continue during many years to come.
Yet when one becomes self contented with one’s soul, one enjoys all the happiness with one’s own self. In such condition, one does not require to do any Karma neither for himself nor for others.
Act in the living presence without any passion or desire. This way one gets the extreme peace of mind & becomes united with the supreme soul i.e. God. Lord Krishna further said,” In this universe I have achieved every thing that one should desire. Even then I work and expect every one to act accordingly. Let every one work even though one works out of ignorance i.e. without knowledge. This is because “to work without hope for fruits is every one’s right by birth”.
Arjuna, please understand that organs are better than body; Mind is greater than organs; Intellect is greater than mind; and lastly soul is greater than intellect. Therefore, your soul should have control over the organs with the help of intellect. By doing so, without any ago, see one great soul within yourself and everywhere and do your prime birth right karma of kshatriya to fight the war with faith in myself by offering their fruits to me, the Almighty soul!
Go UpLord Krishna further said,” I had told about this unvanishing Yoga to Sun long long ago .Sun preached this Yoga to Manu who later on told this to King Ikshaqoo after whom many learned kings were well versed with this Yoga. Today I will let you know this old secret Yoga. “
Arjuna said,” Sun’s birth did take place before a very long period, as against you are born during this age. How can I believe that you have told about this Yoga to Sun long ago?”
Lord Krishna said,” We both have passed through many cycles of birth before and so we will take birth in future. Being a supreme lord of this universe, I know all about this, where as you are unaware about this, you being a normal man. Though I am ever existing, changeless and birthless, I appear on this earth physically with the help of YogMaya, my dear half and sweet heart, to punish the cruel and unjustified people and to restore good religion, justice and peace, law and order on this earth. But I do all this without any expectations of any fruits. So, I remain unbounded and enjoy freedom of my soul. Arjuna, you also act according to this principle and path of life, surrender to me, offer all your fruits of karma to me, be immerged in me, and fight the war so that you will also realize the same freedom of soul.
There is no difference between Karma, Akarma and Vikrama. Firstly understand properly the “Common Karma “ and then “Vikarma” and also understand “Akarma”.
One who sees”Akarma” in “karma” and “karma” in “Akarma” will be supposed to be good and wise. One should work without any desires, which should be burnt by knowledge. Under this circumstance one works continuously and yet he is workless. One’s body works and even then One’s soul enjoys calmness. One who is happy with one’s own self, enjoys one’s own knowledge and works for “Yadna” where does remain no Karma. When “Brahma” is mixed with “Brahma” and when work does mix with “Brahma’, one himself becomes “Brahma”. All these Yadnas are done due to karma only. “Dnyan Yadna” is more important than all the Yadnas.
Therefore, be immerged in Dnyan Yadna and then being immerged in myself, you will find every thing in me and me in yourself. With calm and quiet mind, and faith in myself, all the karma gets burnt by knowledge. Breaking up all your doubts in your heart, with the help of “Dnyan Yoga”, gird up your lions and be ready to fight in the battle and you will enjoy freedom of soul!
Go UpArjuna said ”Lord Krishna, you advocate both karma sanyas and karma Yoga at a time. Please explain clearly as to what is more helpful out of these two, Karma Sanyas or Karma Yoga.
Lord Krishna said,” Both Karma Yoga and Karma Sanyas are equally helpful to achieve “Moksha” or emerging with supreme soul with extreme peace.
But with my experience, I would say that Karma Yoga is far better than Karma Sanyas. In fact, both are similar to achieve the goal of “Moksha”. But one cannot get Sanyas without Karma Yoga. One can achieve Brahma with the help of Yoga. One who has full control over organs and mind with purity of heart; one feels and finds one pure soul in every object. Then being unaffected by Karma, without any binding, one achieves the ultimate peace of mind i.e. Moksha.
But if one acts by keeping an eye on the fruits of karma, one becomes involved again in the cycle of birth and death, and remains far away from the goal of Moksha. Being a solitary soul, if one works or does not work makes no difference to him. In such condition one remains happy with one’s self. Like Sun, which brightens the whole universe, the knowledge of self, created in the heart, brightens the goodliness in the body, mind and intellect and gets freedom from birth and death. One sees one great soul in every thing. One becomes away from happiness and sorrow, even if one gets any thing according or against one’s will. Therefore, One’s outlook towards happiness and sorrow should be similar, remain unaffected and see oneness everywhere.
One should not take interest in happiness like a consumer in organic matters. One should be fully satisfied with one’s own soul and be gratified with Moksha by becoming a Godly Yogee! By full control over one’s self one should constantly desire the betterment of the whole humanity without any selfishness. By thorough knowledge of self, one should have one’s sight fixed straightly on nose, breathing with constant speed, one should control over organs, mind and intellect and remain away from desire, passion, fear and anger, and enjoy the eternal bliss.
One, who realizes that I am the Master of Yadnas and this universe, and the dearest one to every creation, enjoys the freedom of soul and extreme peace, which is everlasting and imperishable.
Go UpLord Krishna said,” One who performs one’s duty without any expectation of fruits, is a real Sanyasi and Yogi. If one lives away from family life, wife and children, does not perform Yadnayag, and does not work for livelihood, he is neither a Sanyasi nor a Yogi. This is because a real Sanyasi and Yogi is one who works but without desires and expecting no fruits. This way of life is helpful to attain Yoga, and a real Yogee remains equal to all with the help of peace of mind.
God helps those who help themselves. Man should become the best friend of himself. He should win himself like a brother otherwise he will be turned down into an enemy to himself in no time. Such a self controlled man remains unshaken in difficult and critical period, in atmosphere of cold and warm, in happiness and sorrow, in salutations with respect as well as in insult with curse.
Yogi is one whose heart is filled with spiritual knowledge and remains unaffected with earthly objects. Gold and earth are of an equal and same value to a real Yogee. In behavior, Yogee gives a same friendly treatment to his well-wishers, friends and foes, good and bad people. Yogee prefers an isolated peaceful life to control his mind, body and intellect and for concentration and meditation to attain Yoga.
One who looks towards every object with one similar sight, one who is fully happy and satisfied with one self is a great Yogee. Without looking anywhere and keeping eyes straight at the end of the nose, a Yogee should sit on a wholly place where a simple darbha charma is placed. In such a situation by concentration and meditation Yogee Keeps his mind and sight very calm and quiet and after that Yogee becomes fully absorbed with my soul, like rivers get absorbed in the ocean. In the end, Yogee attains solace and freedom from worldly objects and climbs the highest peak of upliftment in life, becomes fully dissolved in the ocean of happiness and unbelievable spiritual joy.
Such a Yogee sees oneness in the universe and feels the whole universe within him. Yogee becomes so much immerged in me, that he sees my image everywhere in the universal objects and finds the entire universe in my image. Such a Yogee remains always attached with me. Unselfish Karma Yogee is better than other Yogees. Therefore, Arjuna, act like a great warrior and fight this war, without keeping an eye on fruits i.e. success or failure, win or defeat. Be fully devoted to me whole-heartedly with your mind and spirit and make your life sublime and grateful.
Go UpHere lord Krishna explains his importance. He said” Arjuna, under my kind shelter, study Yoga by devoting your mind, intellect, and soul to me. A very few people make efforts for Moksha. Among them a very rare person attains the real and absolute knowledge about me. It is rather difficult for one to understand, study, and realize me fully in principle. Earth, water, light, air, sky, mind, intellect and ego is my dear-half divided in eight (8) parts. Besides this, I have another enlightened dear-half (sweetheart) and the whole universe and the universal objects are created from these two scientific and spiritual dear ones and even destroyed by these two only. In this universe, there is no other principle except me. Every object, created or non-created, is within me. I am spread over everywhere.
I myself am water. Light in Sun and Moon is myself. The wholly word “OM” in Wed is myself. The good fragrance and smell in earth is myself. The living energy in all creation is myself. I am the original seed of all the objects.
Intellect in the intellectuals is myself. Shining light in the bright people is myself. Desire and power without ego is myself.
The whole universe is like an ocean with objects created by Maya. These objects are governed by three characters: Satva, Raja, and Tama and I reside and exist beyond these characters. Those who surrender me completely and whole-heartedly can only come across this Maya and join me, and know me properly. The whole Universe is being attracted by all these characters created by me through Maya.
Four kinds of people pray me. :
1.Affected with sorrow
2. Thirsty for knowledge
3. Having desires for wealth and worldly objects
4.One who is learned and has attained complete knowledge.
All these people are gentlemen, but one who has obtained deep knowledge is dearer to me. Under my shelter he grows and emerges in me. In fact he is no one but by myself. I rarely find a personality, which finds and feels my spiritual existence everywhere. I know all the living creation in the past, present and future but no one knows me in a real sense. Because almost all the people are wandering within their certain limits of desires, anger and jealousy and are surrounded by happiness and sorrow. But some good people among these come under my shelter and pray me with devotion to get rid of death and oldness. I am shadowed by Maya and cannot reflect myself unless this Maya is crossed by my devotees. Those who cross this Maya, become the rightful persons to emerge in me to achieve tranquility and stable peace.
Go UpArjuna said to lord Krishna,” God! Please explain me what is “Brahma” Adhyatma, and Karma. What is Adhibhoot and Adhidaiva? Which is Adhiyadna and how it remains in body? How Prayani, a well controlled Yogee, should remember and understand you?”
Lord Krishna said,” The supreme, excellent and unvanishable original principle is “Brahma” i.e. ”OM”. The original character of every object is “Adhyatma” and the creative activeness of humanity and living substance from living and nonliving objects is called “Karma”. Lord Krishna further said,” Arjuna, all destructive and vanishing objects are “ Adhibhoot” and the everlasting enlightening power in these objects is “Adhidaivat”. The supreme and the supernatural head of all Yadnas is “Adhiyadna” i.e. myself in all body holding creations.
One who remembers me well at the time of death leaving the body, reaches up to me and becomes emerged in my supreme peaceful form beyond any doubt whatsoever. At the time death one reaches to the same form and condition of which one thinks and remembers. Therefore, Arjuna, remember me all the time and fight the war. Offer your mind and intellect to me so that you will undoubtedly reach unto me even after the war.
One should keep the doors of the organic body closed, keep mind and intellect in the heart, and keep soul in the forehead. Thereafter with deep meditation pronounce the wholly word “OM”, remember the supreme soul, the ruler, who is as bright as Sun, apart from darkness, infinite, beyond logic, ancient and ever lasting, full of divine knowledge. Then by keeping one’s sight in the middle of eyebrows, one reaches to the supreme lord i.e. up to me by full concentration and devotion. Such people are great souls and they become unbounded from the cycle of Life and death, unhappiness and sorrow.
From Brahma Lok and other lok, lives after death reach to the respective lok and again take birth and die. A day of God Brahma is of one thousand Yuga and so is his night. Every one takes birth as the day arises and dies during the sleep at night. When the day of God Brahma begins all movable and immovable generation is created from principle, which cannot be expressed, and when his night begins, all these objects vanish and dissolve in the same principle. Above all this, there is one undistinguished, unawared, unvanishable great principal that is ever lasting. That great principle is nothing but myself.
The whole universe is created and extended from me and all objects, living and nonliving do remain within me. A Karma Yogee, enlightened with this all-spiritual and scientific knowledge, achieves the supreme position among all devotees and reaches the wholly status and place where I reside.
Go UpLord Krishna said,” Now I tell you the most secret knowledge with science. By knowing this, you will enjoy freedom even by doing karma. This knowledge is great, wholly, delighting directly, ever lasting ,religious and can be brought into practice very easily. Hence this is the greatest king of secret knowledge.
This world and the universe is expanded and occupied by my form that cannot be expressed or explained. When fire is created ,there remains smoke. Similarly my soul creates all the living and nonliving objects but it is not attached with them. Like the great moving air in the sky, entire universe is rested within me.
When Yuga begins, I create all the living and nonliving objects with the help of my Prakruti. Being captivated by my Prakruti, all this action is done by me from Yuga to Yuga, but I do not become entangled in this action as I remain impartial and unattached in this action due to which the process of creation and destruction is in process from time to time.
I am omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent. After a spell of time, to maintain law and order on earth, I express myself some times in the form of human body or in any unusual form as time demands. But the wicked and criminal people hate me as they do not understand and follow my divine status. But the learned gentle men know me in a real sense and they pray me from the corner of their heart.
Sankalpa, Yadna, food, rituals, hymns, fire, vegetable oil, fuel all these things are myself . I am father, mother, supporter and promoter of this universe. Rugveda, Samveda, Yajurveda, the wholly word “OM” and all sacred knowable objects are my self. I give heat and burn through Sun to attract water and fall rain. Birth and death, living and nonliving objects, truth and non- truth are myself. The gentle men do good work according to Veda and after death they reach heaven and enjoy heavenly life there and again come down to earth and take birth. They thus move in the cycle of birth to death.
But some few people pray me , and remain united physically and spiritually in me. Therefore, I take all care of these devotees during their life. People of various shades pray their respective lords as per their will, but as I exist everywhere, they pray me unknowingly. I remain equal to every body irrespective of their caste and creed. No one is liked or disliked by me. But I stay in those who pray me by heart and sincerely. Even if a characterless person prays me with good heart, he is no one but a saint in my view. Very soon he becomes a good soul. Believe in me confidently that my devotee always uplifts in his life and never turns himself down.
By remembering and praying me even women, people of lower caste, the ugly down traded person gets superior status in life. Then what about to say about good sober gentle men and moral good kings? They certainly get good placement in life and get immerged in my peaceful form.
Arjuna, you are my best friend and devotee! So, keep your mind and intellect concentrated within me, pray and salute me, so that you will reach up to me and enjoy eternal bliss and peace.
Go UpLord Krishna said,” Gods & saints do not know when I was born, because all those saints and Gods are created by me. I am the first original God of this universe and hence I am without birth. One who knows this, becomes free from all sins.
Wisdom, Knowledge awareness , kindness, truth, controlling organs , peace, happiness, sorrow creativity , fear, boldness, nonviolence , equality, courage , satisfaction, extreme efforts with devotion , donation, success, failure , all these feelings are created from me. Seven Maharshis, four Manu, from whom this humanity is created, are nothing but the manifestation of mind.
One who realizes truly this extension and power of my yoga, becomes master of constant karma yoga. Such people devote their mind and soul together to me and by praying me from the corner of their heart, they enjoy with fulfillment my presence with satisfaction. To favor them, I enter into their heart, and remove darkness of ignorance and enlighten them with true knowledge.
Arjuna said, ”Lord Shrikrishna, you are a supreme, most divine, wholly sacred power. You are super God of the Gods, without birth, ever lasting, enlightened great personality! All know you well in this form, and you too tell me the same and I believe with trust that all this is true beyond doubt. Lord, you know your self better. You are in each and every corner of this universe. You exist in your various divine forms. Please illustrate me how I should always remember you and pray you. Please tell me about these divine forms. I am fully captivated by your sweet words and speech and I still desire to listen to it. So, kindly mention clearly and extensively about your power of Yoga and divine forms where you represent yourself.
Lord Krishna said, ”Alright! There is no end to my divine forms, which are widely spread. I will mention here only those, which are important.
I am a living soul in every creature. I am the original, middle and ending order of every life. I am Lord Vishnu in the twelve sons of Aditi. Among the lightening stars, I am Sun and Moon. I am Sam Veda in three Vedas, lord Indra in Gods, mind in organs and enlightenment in living objects. I am Shankar in eleven Rudras. I am Kuber, fire and mountain Meru. Bruhaspati, Kartikswami and ocean are myself. Bhrugu Rushi, the wholly word “OM” is myself. Japa yadna ,Himalaya, and pimple tree is myself. I am Narad among great Saints in gods. Chitrarath Gandharva and yogi Kapil is myself. The divine horse Uchaishrava and elephant Airavat is myself. I am a king in humanity. “Vajra” a weapon of lord Indra and “kamdhenu” in cows is myself. I am the lord of generation and “vasuki” in serpants is myself. I am “Anant” lord of kobras and lord Varuna of water. I am “Yamadharma”, the lord of death. The great devotee Prahlad is myself. I am the everlasting time. Lion in animals and Garud in birds is myself. I am the moving air. I am Ram in men holding weapons. I am crocodile and the wholly Ganges in rivers. Adhyatma knowledge and debate is myself. I am Brahmadeo. I am Death for ending all lives and Birth for regenerating the same. Fame, Shri, Speech, memory, Kindness, intellect, wisdom is myself. I am Bruhatsama recital and Gayatri Chhanda. I am Margashirsha in months and Vasant rutoo. I am speculation of the wicked people. The shining of the lightening objects and goodness in the gentlemen is myself. I am Vasudeo in Yadwas, Dhananjay in Pandwas, Maharshi Vyas and shukracharyaa in poets. I am a “Rule” in equipment for punishment and proper consultation to get victory. Silence and knowledge of the learned people is myself. The seed of every substance is myself. There is no object where I do not exist.
There is no end to these different various forms of mine. All famous, shining, glorious objects are created from a little spark of my brightness. I have told you all about this to let you have an idea of my resemblance, presence and existence. After all, what you intend to do by knowing all about this? To sum up and in short, please note that I have occupied this universe by a simple one per cent of my divine power.
Go UpArjuna said,” You have told me all this sacred secret knowledge with sweet words to favor me. I realized your true spirit and nature, your extensive field of creation, and destruction, and your importance as one unborn everlasting soul. I am eager to see the extraordinary, exceptional forms of yours by my naked eyes. If visible, kindly show me the same.
Lord Krishna said, ”Arjuna, as you desire, see various shades of my divine power, and the entire universal objects united in my body. You will not be able to see all this by ordinary human sight. So, I offer you a divine vision by which you will observe my Godly Yoga, wonderful excellent power practically.
Arjuna’s eyes were enlightened with bright sight and then he observed all human, universal, and worldly objects centralized in Lord Krishna’s body. With numerous eyes and mouths, with wonderful figure, lord Krishna had many powerful weapons in his ample hands. With beautiful flowers and valuable clothes decorated nicely, lord Krishna had a huge extensive body which was shining with a one thousand sun’s brightness.
Arjuna was astonished to see lord Krishna in such an abnormal form. Arjuna bowed down his head to Lord Krishna, saluted him humbly and said,” lord Krishna, I see in your universal body that all Gods and all lives, the great Brahma Deo, all saints and enlightened serpents are existing closed to each other. I do not find wherefrom your body begins, where is its middle portion and where it ends exactly. You have infinite hands, stomach, mouths and eyes. With your powerful weapons in your hands, your body is full of spread up furious fire, shining like numerous suns together, tightened all over the body, with many eyes widely spread over every where.
Arjuna said,” Lord Krishna, the studious everlasting principle is your self. You are the real protector of ancient religion. I am now confident that you are the only one prime pure soul in this universe. Sun and Moon are your eyes, and enlightened fire is your mouth and as a result of which this universe is spread over with full brightness and heat. All are frightened to witness this terrible sight of yours. All Gods duly united are entering into you, some praying you fearfully. The great saints in your body are praising with hymns, with wholly recitals. Rudra, Aditya, Vasu , Gandharva , Ashwinikumar, Siddha and many other deities, are looking towards this wonderful and frightening scene of you with full excitement.
Arjuna said,” All sons of Dhrutarashtra, Bhishma, Karna, Dronacharya, and many warriors of either side are entering in your dreadful mouth, broken in many parts in your teeth, Like rivers flowing towards ocean, these brave people are moving speedily in your mouth with fire spread all over and finishing their lives by themselves. O’lord! You are swallowing all this with your various tongues with brightened light and fire spread all over your body and its surroundings.”
Arjuna said,” O,lord! I humbly salute you! Please calm down and favor me with your usual peaceful smiling face! I am eager to know as to who are you in this dreadful figure?”
Lord Krishna said ,” I am a widely grown time, and I am standing here to end the lives of these warriors. Even if you do not fight this war, I put all these to death. So, gird up your lions, and fight this war like a brave warrior!”
Deeply impressed by Lord Krishna’s speech, Arjuna said,” Lord Krishna, the whole humanity salutes and prays you and the wicked people run away from you fearfully and it is good and right. You are God of Gods, existing everywhere. You are the eternal principle beyond truth and falsehood. You are the only initial God upon whom this universe is resting and existing. I salute you every now and then from all sides to you. You are brave and most powerful. Without knowing your real image and Godliness, I have behaved with you some times without paying you due respect, for which kindly pardon me. You are the creator of this world. You are the most admirable and lovable personality. You are almighty and greater than all other lords.
Therefore, I humbly bow down to you, surrender to you with a request to excuse me kindly for my all sins and faults. I am frightened on one side and otherwise I am gratified to observe your wonderful extraordinary image. Now I desire to see your usual form with a smiling face.
Lord Krishna said,” Arjuna, no one except you have observed this tremendous personality of mine. You are my dearest devotee and so you could witness this form. Thereafter Lord Krishna returned to his normal form whereupon Arjuna became fearless and very calm.
Lord Krishna said ,” Arjuna , only due to your deep love and pure devotion to me, I could bestow upon you the great rare chance to see me, know me, and emerge into me in principle. A person who does all work and offering their fruits to me, prays me without any expectation, reaches to me very easily. You too, do the same, be friendly to all, see oneness in every thing, so that you will feel within you all my divine power, and you will get dissolved in me forever.
Go UpArjuna said,” Some Yogis pray you and remember your visible form consistently and the others become emerged devotedly in your invisible form. Out Of these two, who are great?
Lord Krishna said,” Those who pray me from the corner of their heart, with deep faith, are the greatest Yogees in my point of view. Some Yogees control their organs and mind, & and pray the invisible, unexpressive, unbounded, ever lasting principle for the betterment of humanity and at last they reach to me with great efforts.
My devotees offer all the fruits of their work to me , & remember me by chanting prayers. I take all care of these devotees and their livelihood. They cross over the ocean of birth & death very soon and reach up to me. Arjuna, therefore, Keep your mind and intellect concentrated in me, so that you will also be absorbed by me beyond doubt.
By study, try to be constant and steady in me. If this is not possible, work only for me, offering its all fruits to me. Knowledge is greater than study, meditation is greater than knowledge, and dedication of fruits is greater than meditation and by dedication one gets peace.
My real and true devotee keeps no animosity with any body. He remains friendly to all. He is kind, without any ego, and has similar attitude to happiness and sorrow. He is ever satisfied; a well controlled determined Yogi, offering all his mind and intellect whole-heartedly to me. My devotee neither troubles any one nor gets disturbed by people. He remains aloof from anger, joy and fear. He is thoroughly sacred, well aware of his duty, works not for the sake of fruits.
My devotee keeps same attitude to friends and foes , cold and heat , happiness and sorrow, praise and criticism. My devotee prefers to talk less and keep mum. He remains contented in whatever he gets. Unattached with home and family, my devotee remains unshaken and steady in principle to me with love and devotion.
Those devotees who, with above-mentioned good moral character, follow the sacred religion with rules and regulations and deep faith, are dearer to me.
Go UpLord Krishna said,” This body is called “Kshetra” and one who knows this “kshetra” is called “Kshetradna”. I myself am “kshetradna” in all the “kshetra” and this is the real knowledge. Now I will explain all about kshetra and Kshetradna in details. Earth, water, light, air, sky, ego, intellect, Prakruti, organs, desires, happiness, sorrow, inter connection of organs in a body, enlightenment, & courage and the consolidation of this all is called “Kshetra”
Kshetradna is without ego, nonviolent , kind, thoroughly wholly and sacred. He is straight forward , respectful to his preacher, and well controlled. He believes that birth, death, oldness and decease, are the faults of the body. He is unattached in home, wife, sons , and daughters. He remains unaffected in good and worst period of life. He prefers selected or lonely place and avoids common people and prays me devotedly assuming that he is a part of my life.
To believe that spiritual knowledge is ever lasting and to follow the principles of this philosophy is called a real knowledge and all contrary to this is called ignorance. Now I will let you Know how salvation (Moksha) is achieved. The greatest ancient “Brahma” is to be realized for Moksha. It is neither truth nor false. This Brahma has hands, legs, eyes, heads, and ears from all the sides and it is widely spread everywhere. To speak the truth, it has no organs, even though organs do resemble in it. This Brahma remains unattached, and creates, promotes, and develops all lives carefully. This Brahma exists in and out of the universal objects. It is stable and movable also. As it is minute, it is difficult to realize Brahma.
This Brahma remains undivided all over, and even then it resembles to be divided among all creatures. It is a creator, caretaker and destroyer. This Brahma is extreme light of brightness and is far away from darkness. This Brahma is well preserved in heart, can be realized by supreme knowledge. Thus I have illustrated Kshetra, Knowledge , and Brahma. My devotee realizes this fully and gets immerged in my image and form. Both Prakruti ( i.e. Maya, Woman ,and vanishing objects) and Man (i.e.(enlightenment) are ancient. Five (5) organs of work , Five(5) organs of knowledge, Five (5) subjects and one (1) addition of mind thus totally sixteen (16) objects and earth, fire, water, air, sky , ego, intellect totally these seven (7) reasons have their inter connected action all around and the reason behind this Prakruti and reason for feeling of happiness and sorrow is Man (Purush). When Purush comes in contact with Prakruti, he enjoys vices and virtues of Prakruti and so he takes birth in good or bad form.
Kshetradna Purush is altogether different from Prakruti and he is the supreme great God. Having got captured by the Prakruti, he witnesses all the games of Prakruti. He promotes, develops all her actions, takes experience of joy and sorrow and one way he keeps all the strings of her game in his hands. This way Purush is a part from Gunas and Prakruti is full of Gunas. One, who knows this, does not take birth again.
Some Yogis see the soul in the heart by purifying the intellect minutely and by concentration and meditation . Some accomplish the soul by Dnyan Yoga and some by Karma Yoga without expectation of fruits. But those who are not well versed about all these paths, pray the lord by listening to knowledge by humbling down to the learned preacher. Those who keep deep faith in advice only, become free from fear of death. All living and nonliving objects are created from the union of kshetra and kshetradna.
God exists in every corner of the universe in the same equal form and figure and he remains eternal even before and after the destruction of all creation. One who realizes that all actions by one are done and governed by only Prakruti and that one’s soul is altogether devoid of action, only then one is called a real spiritualist.
When one will find as a day light, that all diversity is unified in soul where upon this universe is expanded, then only one is blessed with “Brahma.” This soul is ancient, unattached and unaffected.
The sky is minute and remains untouched. In the same way, soul existing in the body remains aloof from body’s qualities. Just as only one Sun enlightens this universe with brightness, one great soul i.e.Kshetradna brightens the entire Kshetra.
As illustrated above, one understands the difference between Kshetra and Kshetradna and by sight of knowledge, reach to the root of original Prakruti and then one achieves the ultimate seat of “Brahma.”
Go UpLord Krishna said, Arjuna, I will now let you informed the best knowledge, I have ever said. By this knowledge, devotees get immerged in my sacred form, and they do not take birth at the time of creation of this universe and so they do not perish at the time destruction. My original Prakruti is, in principle, like Brahma and she is the root of creation of humanity. In short, I am the father and my Prakruti is the mother of this universe.
Satwa, Raja, and Tama are the three qualities created from my Prakruti and these three qualities force the unbounded soul to get entangled in a body. Out of these three qualities, delightful and faultless Satwa is sacred and pure and helps the soul to achieve pure knowledge and happiness. The quality of Raja creates passion and ambition and it forces the boundless soul to work. The quality of Tama is created from ignorance. It captivates most of the people. Sleep, Laziness, and illegal wrong doings are the characters of the soul bounded by Tama.
Satwa creates a hobby for happiness, Raja creates the passion to work and Tama surrounds the knowledge by ignorance and leads one to illegal path of lawless undutiful work. When body is enlightened fully and when sacred knowledge is created in all the organs of the body and one becomes very active, it is significant that quality of Satwa is in rise.
When quality of Raja is in force, one becomes of full of passions, desires, and dissatisfaction and desires to work hard to pacify the will.
When quality of Tama rises, one becomes ignorant, desires not to do any work and runs away from duties and responsibilities.
After death the people having Satwa quality go to heaven, those having Raja qualities take birth on earth in humanity and those having Tama qualities go to hell. Myself is a great soul and I am apart from and far away from these qualities, which are the reasons to force one to take birth.
By devoted work, prayer and meditation, one crosses the three qualities and becomes immerged in my peaceful form. Such a devotee remains unmoved, calm, even if one of these qualities is created. So also he does not wish to have these qualities if they disappear. He remains stable in his position and keeps similar attitude towards happiness and sorrow. Gold, earth and stone are equally valued by him.
With full courage, he has a balanced mind towards praise and insult, friends and foes. He works without any expectation of fruits.‘
One who prays me loyally with full devotion and determination, crosses the river of these qualities created from my Maya i.e. Prakruti and becomes immerged in my “Trigunatit” impersonal form. Because being a supreme soul, I am the creative centre of ancient religion, unaffected everlasting “Brahma”, extreme peace and happiness.
Go UpLord Krishna said,” The unstable, ever changing huge tree of universal activities has its roots up in the infinite sky, and has its branches stretched downwards. Four Vedas are its beautiful leaves. When one knows and reveals out the mystery of this ancient tree, one realizes its real form and becomes the learned master of the secret of Vedas. The stems and branches of this tree are fully-grown with three qualities i.e. Satwa, Raja, & Tama and they are widely spread all over the universe with its roots of work and action stretched down in the human race.
No one can visualize the beginning, status, end , and size of this tree. One should cut this tree by sharp weapon of unattachment and should search out a situation where resides the initial soul, from whom the first original Prakruti is created. That destination of mine is called “ Brahma Pada.” Sun, Moon and even fire cannot brighten this Pada which is enlightened by soul. Some devotees and Yogees conquer their ego, and attachment, destroy their desires and passion and remain aloof from happiness and sorrow. Such Yogees alone reach this unvanishable “Param Pada” where I reside.
The smallest ray of my spiritual Light becomes soul in the living creation. That soul in the body attracts six undistinguished organs like mind. While entering or leaving a body, this soul carries with it these minute organs, including mind, like wind carries with it fragrance from flowers. The soul enjoys the touch, taste, & smell by its presence in ears, eyes, skin, tongue, nose, and mind. Only Yogees and saintly devotees realize the presence of this soul in the body. Ignorant and uncultured persons cannot realize this soul in spite of efforts.
Arjuna, believe that the brightening light in the Sun, Moon and fire persists of me alone. I enter into the earth and preserve the living objects carefully. I preserve all plants and trees, i.e. flora, with cold, watery rays received from calm and quiet Moon. I remain enlightening fire in the living bodies and digest all kinds of food. I enter into every body’s heart. Remembrance, knowledge, forgetfulness are created from me. I am the sacred knowledge to be acquired by studying Vedas, which are created by me. I am master of the Vedas.
This universe consists of two parts only, vanishing, and everlasting. All universal heavy objects including bodies are to be vanished one day, and the enlightened spiritual soul in all these objects is everlasting. This soul is the supreme lord i.e. God that is myself spread all over the universe to preserve it. This being my greatest form, I am named as “Purushottam”. One who knows me so, prays me devotedly. I have told this sacred knowledge that will make one learned with full satisfaction.
Go UpLord Krishna said, ”Fearlessness, thorough gentle character, readiness for acquiring knowledge, and to do karma, liberal nature for offering donations, controlling organs, following self religion, meditation, straight forward nature, nonviolence, truth, peacefulness, dedication, kindness, delightfulness, forgiveness, sacredness, well wisher, nature without ego, all these good qualities belong to gentle people who take birth with divine power.
Contrary to this, people with devilish character do exist. Ego, hatred, cruelty, ignorance, and pride - all these vices belong to devilish wicked people. These people are uncultured. They cannot judge properly the difference between vices and virtues. Therefore, they cannot take a proper decision as to what to do and what not to do. These wicked people do not believe in God. They believe in power, wealth, & enjoyment and they follow in destructive activities. They achieve wealth and property by illegal ways and prefer to lead a luxurious life and live lavishly. Eat, drink, and be merry are their aim. Through out the life they care to gain these material objects only.
They remain unsatisfied. Their thrust for power & wealth grows continuously. They are violent and have pleasure to kill the enemies and continue killing in the future. They are victims of pride & prejudice. They have a superiority complex. They have unwarranted ego of their richness and status. They spend unnecessary money on unlawful rituals, luxury, and donations. Gripped and surrounded by these illegal action & thoughts, these cruel and wicked people reach to Hell.
Due to these vices they cannot realize my spiritual existence in the body. They envy me and have feelings of animosity with me. Passion, anger, and sexual desire are the paths that reach to hell. One should discard these paths and try to make best of his life. By praying and devoting me so as to march ahead towards divine light and peace. Only two qualities of life are created in this universe .One is divine and on contrary to it is devilish which is nothing but wickedness with cruelty. Arjuna, you are born with divine qualities. So, get rid of sorrow, control yourself, behave like a great warrior and fight the war!
May it be Yoga or any good work, it should be done according to systematic process i.e. science. One who does not follow this, cannot have access to success and happiness. Therefore, to judge the dutiful and undutiful work you have to search out good and bad on the basis of science. It is better for you to act and do only those things that are permissible in science.
Go UpArjuna said,” lord Krishna, there are people who have faithful feelings but they carry on their work without following the methods of science properly. How can we decide their status of mind, satwa, rajas or tamas?
Lord Krishna said,” The faith of humanity is of three kinds i.e. satwa, raja and tama and it is according to qualities of each character. All human beings have three kinds of liking for food. Satwa character is fond of food, which helps to increase life span, intellect, energy, health, happiness and affection and to create sound mind in a body. People of Rajas character like hot, sour, salty food creates sorrow and decease. People of tamas character like stale, cool, tasteless food, which is not sacred and healthy.
Satwik Yadna is performed by systematic legal process, following all norms, with proper pronunciation of hymns, and lastly with peaceful mind but doing all this, no fruits are expected. In Rajas Yadna fruits are expected after the completion of rituals. This Rajas Yadna is performed mostly to impress upon the dignity, status, and greatness of one who does it. Tamas Yadna is performed without hymns, faith ignoring all correct process of rituals.
To honor & respect Gods, Brahmin, saints, Priests, and learned gentlemen, straightforwardness, simplicity, nonviolence, Brahma charya, all this is a strict disciplined way of life leaded by one physically.
To speak truth with sweet words, with proper balanced thought, without hurting other’s mind and feelings and to study the ins and outs of nature of one’s work is a strict disciplined way of life related to speech.
To keep mind pleasant and calm, to cool down gentleness, to behave saintly, to control mind and organs and to keep purely clean and sacred feelings is a strict disciplined way of life related to mind.
Without expectation of any fruits, when one prefers above mentioned three strict disciplined ways of life, it is known as Satwik Tapa. “Rajas Tapa” is unstable and uncertain. It is mostly performed to make a show of one’s richness, dignity, and status with expectation of honor and salutations from people. In Tamas Tapa one insists upon one’s own unlawful, unscientific methods, tortures the body, make efforts with strains with an intention to trouble and destruct others.
In Satwik Donation, firstly proper place and proper time and proper person is selected and then donation is offered to the proper person without accepting any obligations from him. All this is done only to perform duty without any expectation in return.
In Rajas Dan, donation is offered with the expectation to get some thing in return. Also here donation is not offered wholeheartedly.
In Tamas Dan, donation is done to improper person at improper time and place, without honor and respect to the receiver.
‘Brahma’ is signified by the wholly sacred words ‘Om Tat Sat’. From this Brahmin, Veda, and Yadna are created. From ‘Om Tat Sat’ this universe is created. Therefore, all rituals and good work is started by pronouncing ‘Om’ by people who have faith in ‘Brahma’
Those who desire salvation without expectation, perform the task of Yadna, Tapa, Donation by pronouncing ‘Tat’
The word ‘Sat’ is utilized for existence, saintliness, and good work. The continuity of Yadna, Tapa, and Donation and work done for it is called ‘Sat’.
Hawan, Donation, Tapa, or any other work done without faith is called ‘Non-Truth’ which is not useful in any part of the universe. So, all this work should be done with deep faith only.
Go UpArjuna said, ”Lord Krishna, I desire to know the principles of sanyas and Tyaga separately.”
Lord Krishna said,” The learned person prefers to remain without work, which results in fruits and calls fruit producing work as’ Sanyas’ and a well balanced person calls renouncing fruits from work as ‘Tyaga.
Some learned persons say that work should be given up as it is full of defects. On the contrary, some noble people say that renouncing Yadna, Tapa, Donating, and work is not proper. I am of a firm opinion that Yadna, Tapa and Donating must be done. It purifies heart and mind. But all this should be done without attachment & expectation of fruits.
Being captivated by love and affection, when one renounces work bestowed upon by one’s character and religion, it is called Tamas Tyaga. When renouncing of work is done with the fear of trouble to body, it is called Rajas Tyaga. And when trusted work is completed without attached sentiment and expectation of fruits, and only to perform duty, it is called Satwik Tyaga.
When one keeps similar attitude towards skilled and unskilled work, renounces fruits out of work, such noble, intellectual and doubtless person is called Sanyasi who remains unbounded of fruits. Arjuna, as mentioned in science of Vedas, any work occurs due to five reasons. These reasons are body, subject, instruments of organs work producing different trades and with that fifth is fortune. These five reasons remain behind any work done by body, speech and mind.
Under such circumstances, due to lack of culture and intellect, one who supposes himself as a worker is nothing but a fool. Knowledge, the knower, and the subject to be studied, are the three inspirers behind work, and the instruments to carry on work, work to be accomplished and the worker are the three reasons behind work.
Satwik Dnyan is that where one single everlasting, indivisible soul and feeling is seen in all different living creatures. In Rajas Dnyan this soul and feeling is seen differently in living creature. Without understanding the meaning of principal, one’s knowledge is surrounded and limited to body only; such little knowledge is called Tamas Dnyan.
Satwik work is done without attachment, love, anger, and desire for fruits. Satwik worker, in spite of success and failure, never looses balance of mind and with zeal and courage remains without any ego, and unaffected. Rajas work is done with physical strain and hard work with intention to gain fruits. Rajas worker expects fruits out of work. He is dirty, violent, full of passion, and becomes joyful with success and sad with failure. Tamas work is done without full of thought, ignoring one’s ability, future effects and trouble to others. Tamas worker is unstable, ignorant, full of pride, lazy, sad, deceiver, cheater, and bankrupt.
Satwik intellect (wisdom) understands properly what to do and what not to do as mentioned in religion, what is acceptable and not acceptable, to whom and of whom not one should be afraid, which work makes one bounded and which leads to salvation.
Rajas intellect cannot judge properly as to what do and what not to do as per moral in religion.
Tamas intellect is full of ignorance, believes in immoral activities against morals mentioned in religion, and brings out improper meaning of every statement.
When power of Satwik meditation is in process, due to concentration on soul, one carries on the action of mind, life, and organs in a smooth and stable process.
When Rajas power is strengthened, one has inclination towards religion, wealth, and passion and occasionally desires fruits out of work done.
When Tamas power has its strength, due to lack of wisdom, one is inclined to sleep, fear, sadness, lust, and sorrow.
In Satwik happiness, one remains loyal to soul; one tastes initially poisonous, but later on sweetness with full satisfaction.
In Rajas happiness, due to union of subjects with organs, one feels sweetness initially, but later on poisonous, with bitterness.
In Tamas happiness, one gets tempted to attractive objects due to sleep, fear, laziness & sorrow.
All living creatures on earth and heaven cannot be traced without these three qualities and characters..
Arjuna, the work of Brahmin, Kshatriya, Vaisya, and Sudra, is distributed dividedly according to their natural qualities.
Prayer, holiness, Peace, spiritual knowledge with experience, simplicity, and loyalty to God is the natural work of Brahmin.
Bravery, brightness, courage of mind, alertness, to donate, to impress upon, and not to run away from the battlefield is the natural work of Kshatriya.
Agriculture, to grow and feed animals, to do business and trade is the natural work of Vaisya.
To attend, to take care, to serve others, is a natural work of Sudra.
One should follow and carry on loyally to one’s natural work, by praying the great soul from whom all living creatures are generated. This results in fulfillment of one’s desires and will.
It is better to follow one’s own religion than to follow other’s religion with full comfort. By carrying on one’s natural work, one remains happy, and away from sin. Arjuna, one should never leave one’s birth right work even if it has some faults. Like fire with smoke, all work remains with some defects.
A fully controlled person who without any desire renounces fruits from work, achieves extra ordinary supreme absolute status i.e. “Brahma’. With sacredness he controls his organs, leaving all desires, love, & anger. He prefers to stay in a selected or peaceful place and then with concentration and meditation, by selflessness, he qualifies to emerge in “Brahma’ and becomes a perfect pleasant yogi. He, then, neither hopes nor mourns, and by keeping similar attitude to all leaving creatures, he realizes how great is my supreme soul. By this spiritual knowledge, he becomes dissolved in me like a dilute medicine. Such Karma Yogi carries on all his work for me and by my good will and favor, he achieves a stable everlasting status.
Therefore, Arjuna, offer all your work to me, and with a balanced mind and intellect pray me with full concentration.. This will empower you to cross over all the obstacles and calamities, but if you do not follow me with your ego, you will have your end in a shameful condition. Under the shelter of ego, you state that you will not fight this war. But your determination is baseless, and meaningless. Your character of a Kshatriya will force you to fight the battle, as you will be captivated by your Kshatra Prakruti.
Arjuna, God rotates all living creatures as if they are installed on a machine by his Prakruti and he resides in their hearts. Please surrender that God in your heart with full devotion, so as to achieve supreme peace and stable place. I have disclosed this most secret knowledge to you. Keep all your mind and intellect in me. Pray me and be my devotee so as to reach unto me. You are dearest to me, therefore I tell you on oath that you will get immerged in me. Now, please think ins and outs of your problem, and you may take any decision whether to fight the war or not.
Please surrender to me by leaving all religions and get rid of your sorrow. I will relinquish you from your all sins.
One should not tell this secret knowledge of Geeta to a person who does not lead a disciplined sacred life, and one who does not pray me, keeps jealousness with me and does not desire to listen to this. When a person does a profound study of our conversation on religious spiritual topic, I will take it for granted that he has prayed me with full devotion by Dnyan Yoga. When a person will listen our speech with deep faith without searching out any faults, he will reach to divine place where all sacred people with good excellent moral reside.
Arjuna, have you listened to this supreme knowledge of Geeta with full concentration of mind?
Arjuna said,” Lord Krishna, with your kind advice and grace, all ignorance in my mind is wiped off and vanished. I am now free from all doubts. Now I will fight this war, bestowed upon me by destiny like a brave warrior.
All this wonderful, secret, speech between Lord Shrikrishna and great warrior Arjuna was heard by Sanjaya who reported to King Dhrutarashtra, the father of Kaurawas, the exact incidence that occurred on the battle field of Kurukshetra.
Sanjaya said,” By the grace and favor of Lord Vyas, I heard the secret supreme speech of Karma Yoga spoken by Lord Shrikrishna himself. Lord Dhrutarashtra, I have been extremely pleased to listen this dialogue of great soul Shrikrishna and his devotee friend Arjuna.
Whichever party gets moral support of Yogeshwar Shrikrishna and great warrior Arjuna, that party will positively achieve the rightful win, prosperity, upper hand, spirituality, and political gain and his real devotee will be the master of ‘Kaiwalya Pada’ with salvation.
