Offline Fun Time

I decided to take yesterday off from the Internet (except while at work where I need to use it to do my job) and I rather liked it. I have to admit that it was hard and there was a lot of temptation to see what the online world had to offer, but I stayed the course. I missed it, but at least I can do it.

Some of my co-workers have been getting together over the past few months for Dungeons and Dragons. Initially, I wanted to play, but didn't because, well, I'm not all that social and it's been over 10 years since I've done any RPGs that didn't involved a Playstation or Nintendo machine.

So, a 3rd Edition Oriental Adventures book came into the store last week and there was talk of wanting to play that. However, their DM doesn't do 3rd Edition rules (for reasons unknown to me, though I suppose I could ask), so I checked out that book and the Player & DM guide to see about possibly running my own campaign.

So far, the books read very positively and I think I can do it. I just need to get the rules straight and figure out a campaign, among a myriad of other things. I dunno how well I'll do, but I think it'll be fun so long as I don't do what I did when I DMed Elfquest in high school and make things too easy. 'Course, I don't want to make things too hard either.
