We are aboard the Queen of Cowichan ferry on our way to The Island, Vancouver Island, off the coast of British Columbia.

We have crossed Vancouver and caught the ferry at Horseshoe Bay, north of the city, travelling to Nanaimo, which is also famous for Nanaimo bars.

Ferries here are the easiest to use that I have ever been on. Huge numbers of cars roll on and off in a quarter of an hour.

The Island appears in the distance.

We are going to drive North and look for a quiet area. The shores are really something here.
