It's a good job we went to the glacier yesterday, I wouldn't fancy that road today.

We went out along the boardwalk to look at the valley this morning. It is 90 km to the Pacific Ocean but the locals do not seem too concerned about the Tsunami zone warning signs. The whole town is very low set and there are lots of pictures of floods

Someone told us that we would spend our time in Stewart with our heads tipped back to see the view. He was right.

This afternoon we have visited the Stewart Town Museum. We highly recommend a stop here if you possibly can and ask the nice lady on the desk to run the amazing video of life in the old mining town. We meant to come back and take a picture of the museum but life got interesting!

We were having tea - yup, great tea here - when there was a huge boom just down the street. Everyone charged out of the cafe. It wasn't a panic stampede, it was a determined rush to help. It turned out to be an explosion in a transformer in a metal and wood shed. The flying corrugated sheet metal went through some nearby powerlines. Fortunately no one was hurt, and the RCMP were just down the road.
