Warm-ups and stretches for frisbee golfers.

Yes, urban frisbee golf is a spontaneous game. You grab your frisbee and a couple of friends and hit the streets. Unfortunately, like any sport, frisbee golf involves a lot of straining, pulling and twisting of muscles. On an unprepared body, the strain of throwing frisbees and climbing fences can lead to injury. Therefore, its always necessary to do a simple warm-up before any game.

The following stretches can be done in mere minutes before a game, and will save you a lot of pain in the long-run.

This simple strech relieves tension in the calf muscles, enabling you to hurdle over fences, sprint confidently and kick dogs in the head.

This stretch is super important for loosening up the front of the thigh. With pliable legs your stance will be more confident.

This is a general stretch for the waist, groin and lower back. It is necessary for bending one's body around obstructions.

This simple stretch takes tension out of the shoulders. Apply this stretch before each game, and you will soon see your throws become more accurate. Hold all stretches for about ten seconds.

Think stretching is only for wooses? Just ask professional urban frisbeegolfer, Eddie Diablo, and hell tell you otherwise. I cant tell you how many times Ive strained muscles, Eddie says. Climbing trees, jumping over fences. Even simply throwing [the frisbee] can take a lot out of you. Over the years Ive had the [most] problems with my shoulders and calves. Then one day, someone suggested that I stretch before the game. After trying it for a week, my muscle pain reduced considerably. Anyone who thinks that stretching is unnecessary should at least give it a try.
