The story of Raygull Kiao Part IV
The road to the future
Ray was nervous as he approached the city. It had been almost 14 months since he had any human contact, besides Guri, and was never very good around people, anyway.
As he walked through the city, everything seemed to be like he remembered it. Suddenly, he saw a man in a mask, with a dark colored bag, run out of a jewelry store and straight towards him. "I don't think he paid for whatever is in that bag," Ray thought to himself. As the man grew closer, Ray thrust his arm out, causing the thief to flip end-over-end and fall facedown on the ground.
Calculating that the chances that there were people staring at him was pretty good; he chose to continue walking instead of waiting for the police. Once a few blocks away, he figured he could relax. But, when he sensed someone behind him, he whirled around as the person ran into him and fell to the ground. After many apologies, the person was standing again, and Ray froze at the reality- There, in front of him stood a girl; blonde hair, green eyes, and very pretty. Once again, Ray found himself stumbling over his words "Uh... I mean-" "I'm Regan" she interrupted "What's your name?" "I'm... Ray" he managed "Are you new here?" she asked "Yeah" "Do you need a place to stay?" "Nah, I've got a place" Ray said; thinking about the cave he had found, just outside the city. It would work for a shelter until he could get an apartment of his own. "Oh. Okay" Regan smiled "Well, I guess ill see you around" "I hope so" Ray thought, then turned beat red when he realized that he had said it out loud. He began babbling again, out of nervousness, but completely froze as Regan leaned over and kissed his cheek, then walked away as he stood, unmoving for what seemed like hours.
Later, after he had eaten supper, which he bought with leftover money from his allowance, from the Walker's, he began to make his way out of the city, when he was surrounded by what was apparently a street gang. "That's him" one of them shouted, "That's the guy who took out Paulie" "Are you sure?" another asked, as he stepped out from the group "Positive" the first replied. "Okay" the man turned to Ray "We can do this one of two ways: you can give up and take a beating, or you can try to take us and run the risk of getting killed" Ray thought moment, then said, "Well, there's ten of you" he paused again "I think I'll take my chances" "Your funeral" the thug replied as he pulled a gun and fired.
For some reason, the bullet seemed to go slower then he remembered seeing on TV, as he simply stepped aside and watched it whiz by then jumped forward and grabbed the gun. He was surprised as the gun crumbled in his grip; he figured that Guri's training had made him stringer, but not this much.
Apparently, the gang members weren't very smart, as they approached him with chains and knives, even seeing what had happened to the no longer recognizable weapon, tried before. One of the knife-wielders attacked first, Ray used and open-hand strike to knock the blade away then sent a flare-like ball of light into the group.
This was one of his favorite techniques that had been taught to him by Guri. By simply harnessing his physical and spiritual energy together, he could create a ball of pure light energy much like the blasts he had preformed before Guri's training.
The ball exploded, sending bodies flying in all directions. One-by-one the gang members recovered and ran away.
As Ray made his way further out of the city, he was again stopped, this time by a boy about his age. He had silver hair and green eyes, and was built like an average boy. There was nothing special about him, it appeared. "Look, I don't want to hurt you" Ray told him, "Same here" he replied, "My name is Bobby Starx, and I'm here to make you an offer" "What kind of offer?" Ray asked "A job" Bobby told him "as a bounty hunter"
