The story of Raygull Kiao Part III
Graduation
Deep in the forest, two figures fought, they were not at war, nor were they angry with one another, but they fought hard, nonetheless. One: 14-year-old Raygull Kiao who, before his training, was afraid of the power of which he had been gifted. The other: Guri Archimatt, a man appearing to be in his late 70's, who had been helping Ray to control his power, for just over a year.
As Guri lashed out, Ray stepped aside and kicked at the old man, who blocked the kick, and flipped Ray; the boy landed on his feet and charged once again. This had been the scene for over two hours as Ray was taking his final exam as Guri's apprentice. The goal: to defeat his master in a fight in which neither held back. If he failed, he could look forward to another month of hard training, if he succeeded, he was free to leave, for in defeating his master, he proved that he was superior, and didn't need any more training.
Ray had taken the test twice before, but both times failed, the most recent of which, his refusal to give in almost cost him his life. Ray believed that this time was different, he had been training harder than ever, in the few weeks leading up to the fight, and was finally holding his own against his master. In his spare time he had done some experimenting with Guri's techniques and had modified them to fit his style of fighting. But, his secret weapon was not only a modified version of one of Guri's techniques it was an enhanced one. He had taken the temporary power-increaser technique that Guri taught him, and improved it to the point that he could increase his physical strength by over double for an extended amount of time, with less of a toll taken on his energy.
As they connected on a power strike, they both flew backwards, landing on their feet, neither moved as they tried to regain some of the energy that they had lost during their fight. 'Now or never' Ray thought to himself. He began to float in the air as the energy inside of him duplicated. With the air around him crackling, he charged, taking Guri by surprise, the old man was knocked backwards crashing through about 5 trees before falling to the ground. Ray landed in front of Guri, the air still fizzing from his immense power increase. Guri began to laugh, "I give up" he chuckled loudly. Ray helped him to his feet as he powered down to normal.
Later that night, Ray was preparing to leave, when Guri appeared behind him "What's your next stop?" "I don't know" Ray replied, "I might go to the city and become a mercenary or a bounty hunter. That way ill be able to put my skills to good use, and make a decent wage, at the same time" "Smart boy." Guri paused "So, you will be leaving in the morning?" "Yeah. First thing" Guri extended his hand "It has been a pleasure working with you" Ray smiled "Same here"
