The story of Raygull Kiao Part II:
The old man Guri Archimatt
It had been about a month since Ray had left the care of the Walkers. He had been moving by day and making camp every night. By now, he was probably a few hundred miles from the place he had left. He had run out of food about a week ago and had to resort to cooking the small rabbits and squirrels that he had caught. He had grown to accept his powers, and was even starting to control them. All the days had been the same since he started his journey, until this night. As he began to set up camp for the night, he noticed that there was another fire nearby. "Who would be out here?" he asked himself "this is even too far out for boy scouts". As he made his way to the location, he looked around for another person. There were supplies around the fire and a few logs over by some trees. He was about the middle of the camp, when he heard someone behind him. He whirled around to see an old man, carrying some firewood. The old man looked to be in his 70s or 80s, he had white hair, and a white beard, he was a little bit shorter than Ray, and was very skinny. "Hello, who are you, young man?" he said cheerily. "My name is Raygull Kiao" Ray responded. "They call me Guri Archimatt," the old man said, as he set the logs by the fire and shook Rays hand. "What brings you here Mr. Raygull Kiao?" the old man asked.
Guri listened as Ray explained what had happened. "You say that you saw a bright flash attack the other boy?" Guri asked, with a strange interest in his eyes "Yeah, but-" "Can you do it again?" Guri interrupted. Ray looked at his feet "I don't think so" "Why not?" Ray paused "I don't know how I did it". Guri looked disappointed  "I see... well, you had better get some rest" Ray didn't argue he finished his meal and sat by a tree.
That night Ray had no nightmares for the first time since he left the Walker's care. When he finally awoke he found Guri making a bread-like meal by the fire. "What's that?" Ray asked. "An old family recipe" Guri replied "eat, it will make you stronger" he put a piece on a plate and offered it to Ray "Thanks" Ray took it and gulped it down. "So, where are you from, Raygull Kiao?" Guri asked after they were finished with their meal. "Call me Ray" he replied, "I come from a small town just north of here called Pittsfield". "And, your parents?" Guri asked intently "My mom has lived here most of her life, also" "what about your father?" Ray paused for a moment "Dad never talked about where he came from" Guri nodded, as if to know something that Ray didn't, then asked "Will you fight me?" Ray looked at the old man, confused "Fight you?" Guri stood up "Yes, fight me. I want to test your strength". As Ray looked at the old man's small, fragile figure and began to wonder if he was insane, but that thought was quickly ended as Guri jumped back and waves of energy began to flow from his body, making the ground tremble. "Ready?" he asked "As ready as I'll ever be" Ray said as he shifted his feet, and raised his hands to fight. Guri jumped forward, moving at blinding speeds and slammed his fist into Ray's gut, causing him to fly backwards into a tree. As Ray staggered to his feet, he looked around, Guri?s amazing speed made him almost impossible to detect. As he stood to his feet he looked and saw that Guri was right beside him. Ray swung at him, but he dodged it and kicked him in the side sending him flying again. This continued for the next few minutes, Ray would try to attack Guri, who would counter the attack and send Ray flying in the other direction. The more this happened, the more determined Ray got, until finally, he got an idea, as he got up for what seemed like the hundredth time, he saw that Guri was again beside him, but this time, everything seemed to slow down 'This is my only chance, I have to do it' Ray put both his hands out and concentrated hard, twin beams shot from his hands and sent Guri flying into the air, but the blast also drained most of Ray's energy. "Very good, Ray" Guri walked over to Ray and helped him to his feet "you have potential" "Thanks" Ray replied
Later that night, after they had eaten, Ray began to pack up his belongings, Guri came behind him "Where will you go from here?" "I don't know" Ray replied as he finished packing "Why don't you stay here?" Guri asked "Why?" "I could train you"Ray's eyes widened "You mean..." Guri smiled "Raygull Kiao, I would like you to be my apprentice"
