FORGIVENESS
" If you accept your
function in the world of time as one of healing, you will emphasize the only
aspect of time in which healing can occur. The moment you choose to forgive. " A
Course in Miracles.
Forgiveness is an important aspect of spiritual growth and healing because it
leads us to new dimensions of love. To forgive means, "to give up for change."
When we give up anger, resentment, criticism and fear, the energy in our heat
changes; our perspective of life changes; our mind changes and our relationship
with God changes.
Forgiveness enables us to flourish, not merely survive, because our hearts once
again open to the goodness of life, the goodness of God.
For your own growth and evolution, spend forty days in a state of forgiveness.
Forgive those who have hurt you. Forgive those who have wished you harm. Forgive
those who are not conscious enough to realize that you are a child of God and
that whatever they do to or think of you, is a reflection of what they really
think and know about God. Your most important task for this period is to forgive
yourself for bad choices and decisions; for wasting time; for wishing harm or
ill upon others; for believing others when they told you things about yourself
that was not true. Most of all forgive yourself for forgetting that you are a
precious child of God and that God loves you exactly where you are, as you are.
This is a forty-day process. You will need a notebook, at least 20 minutes, a
quiet place and most importantly a willing heart and an open mind. As you begin
the forgiveness process you may just be saying the words, notifying the Universe
of your intent. As you continue the process the act of forgiving becomes
empowering.
In our lives we experience upset and pain. Often these upsets involve
individuals who are in our lives daily. The fastest way to change these
circumstances and relationships is to forgive.
Recite the following prayer morning and evening:
Dear Father Mother God: (Feel free to use any other name with which you are
comfortable)
Today, the power of love fills my heart and I am able to forgive.
Today, the power peace fills my mind and I am willing to forgive.
Today, the goodness of God fills my life and I am ready to forgive.
I am ready and willing to receive your perfecting presence in my life.
I now open my mind and heart to your divine order as the center of my life.
Bring me into alignment with my highest and greatest good.
Thank you! And so it is!
After reciting the prayer write the following statement 35 times.
I,__(Your name)___________ , forgive__________________________ totally and
unconditionally.
Do not edit the names. Who ever comes to mind, write their name. If the same
name comes up over and over, write it.
