Tauron of the Sundered Lands vs. Grolsch of Bols
Ultrann floats over the centre of the arena as the crowd settles into their seats. He sighs, "Again I have to do all the work, with Grolsch being in the ring." " But without a doubt this will be an interesting match, for it is the unkempt Master of the Whips versus the burly Master of the Chains!!" The crowd begins to cheer and chant, with almost equal portions siding with each opponent. Ultrann settles to his throne to watch the proceedings, and makes two successive snaps of his fingers...
Tauron finds himself in front of the east gate, with his bow in hand. A split second later, Grolsch of Bols finds himself in front of the west gate, staring directly at his long-haired opponent. Tauron reacts quicker, firing off two arrows in quick succession before moving a few steps southerly. Unfortunately both arrows strike the gate on either side of Grolsch. Some members of the crowd murmurs "ooooh..."
Grolsch lets out a loud bellow/war cry as he begins swinging his chains around. "Grolsch, Grolsch, Grolsch!!", chants members of the audience. He makes a hasty beeline for Tauron, ending his dash about 10 feet from his opponent. Tauron seems to be surprised by the quick dash of the heavy-set opponent, but decides to drop his bow and pull out his two whip daggers. As Tauron begins winding up his whips, Grolsch takes the opportunity to swing his spiked chain, but misses. Tauron manages to lash out with the whip dagger in his right hand, creating a wound on Grolschs' leg. However, Grolsch follows through with a regular attack of his own, striking Tauron in the right hip, causing him to grimace in definite pain. As quickly as he attacked, Grolsh retreats about 15 feet westerly, surprising Tauron with his speed (for such a large man).
Tauron moves to within striking distance of his fleet-footed enemy and lets his whip dagger unfurl. Unfortunately, he misses. With another quick burst of speed, Grolsh moves forward and with the quick spin of his chains, strikes Tauron on the left arm with one of its spikes. Before Tauron can react, Grolsch has already moved 15 feet from his previous position, again moving west and slightly to the south. The crowd seems to be chanting the name Grolsch more than Tauron...
Tauron mumbles under his breath, "He's like a damn cheetah!" Unsure of how to best deal with his stout opponents' speed, he looks to his dropped bow near the east gate, as he quickly tries to figure out his next move. He decides to quickly move, leaping onto the side of the pillar and climbing to the top. "Maybe a better perch will improve my success...". Maybe not! Grolsch lets out another bellow ("Heyooohh!!"), swinging his chain with surprising ease and quickness. He dashes to the base of the pillar below Tauron, swings his chain up. He strikes Tauron's left arm before sprinting just over 10 feet north of the pillar.
Tauron is clearly frustrated (not to mention bleeding profusely). He stands at the very edge of the pillar to try and reach his opponents with his long whip daggers. He flicks them at his opponent with amazingly fast rapidity; two lashes with his right whip dagger and one with his left. Unfortunately, all three attacks miss his weaving opponent. After completing his dodging and weaving, Grolsh moves towards his opponent - just enough to reach him with his lengthy spiked chain - and lets loose. The arc of his swing sends a spike up through his opponents' bearded chin and into his skull. The momentum of the spiked chain brings both the chain down in addition to his enemy, firmly attached to the spike with his face. "Medic!!!", screams Grolsch.
Grolsch: 350 XP, 207 gp. An amazing set of talents have silenced both your opponents so far.
Tauron: 500 XP, 157 gp. You prepared for your opponents' barrel-chested toughness, but were surprised by his agility and speed. You are a quick study, so no doubt you will be better prepared should you meet again. Complete resurrection is granted, along with the best magic plastic surgeon that Ultrann has on retainer. A scar under your chin will remain, though.
