RESEARCH INTEREST
To findout crack propagation and nucleation of fracture process zone in concrete.
Mechanisms of micro-cracks in concrete are determined by applying acoustic emission (AE) techniques.
Testing specimens of variable notch depth under bending, the stress intensity factors are estimated.
AE waveforms are generated as elastic waves in concrete due to crack nucleation.
Crack kinematics in fracture process zone are represented by the moment tensors which can be determined by the SiGMA (Simplified Green's function for Moment tensor Analysis) code.
Simulation of crack propagation of concrete is carried out by a two-domain boundary element method (BEM), applying the critical stress intensity factors determined.
These analytical results are compared with the results of the SiGMA analysis.
