Pfizer new appointed CEO James Kindler is preparing a new strategic vision for the company. This will include major lay offs and revamping of the way medicines are developped and marketed. He is changing much of the senior management team and cutting the US sales force by 20% . He has been at Pfizer for 5 years and he is an attorney by training. He actually tried to please worried shareholders by increasing the company's dividend to 21%. Pfizer recently had to stop research on its cholestrol drug torceptrapib after some patients died. It will be interesting to see if the new CEO strategy will actually help Pfizer reshape itself amidst the fierce pharmaceutical competition.
