Biography
Magaret LeAnn Rimes winner of 2 Grammys and over 16 milion albums sold, was born on Auust 28, 1982 in Jackson, Missisispi. She started singng by the age of two.By the age of 5 she went on to win a talent contest. After moving to Texas LeAnn played Tiny Tin in the musical "Christmas Carol" by Dickens and sang "The Star Spangled Banner" to open Dallas Cowboys football games.
By thr age of 11 she released "All that", produces by her father, on an independent record label. Bill Mack, who had written a song called Blue, heard LeAnns demo tape and recognized her talent. This new version of Blue became a huge hit, climbing the top of the country charts in the US. Even her album with the same title became huge success, she won 2 Grammys.
In 1997 LeAnn released "You light up my life: Inspirational songs" (which debuted on 3 Billboad Magazine charts at the same time) and "The early years" with old songs. "You light up my life" contained the songst How do i live (US #1) and You light up my life. LeAnn starred in the TV movie Holiday in your heart, based on a book, which she had co-authored. A great year for the 15-year old LeAnn: She won one American Music Award, 2 Grammy Awards, 3 Academy of Country Awards and 4 Billboard Music Awards.
1998 LeAnn released "Sittin` on top of the world" with the songs Comittment and Looking through your eyes (on the soundtrack The magic sword/Quest for Camelot as well)
1999 she published the album "LeAnn Rimes" with the huge US-Hit Crazy and recored Written in the stars a duet with Sir Elton John for the award-winning soundtrack to the broadway musical "Aida".To the Thanksgiving LeAnn traveled to Europe to present a special concert for the pope.
The following year was the Coyote Ugly Year. On the soundtrack are 4 songs by LeAnn Can`t fight the moonlight, Right kind of wrong...
2001 LeAnn released "I need you", which beacme no. 14 in the german top 20.
The next album "Twisted Angel" in 2002 showed LeAnn sexier and more poppiger. She said with this album she found herself! Twisted Angel became a huge success in the german charts and so her singles Liefe goes on and Suddenly.
2003 LeAnn was again a part of a soundtrack. This time Legally blond 2 with her song We can.
2004 she published her Best Of with 20 songs avaible as a remix album as well.
After a huge US-Tour followed the next album "This woman" in 2005, only released in the USA. LeAnn sais it`s the best album she has ever made, `cause its excactly who she is right now at the age of 23. And it`s just the beginning.....
