HELP! HELP!

The Wiccan Religion Message Forum

Posted by Perfection on July 21, 1998

I have recently moved in with my Father. At first he was cool about my religion and just asked that I never bring spirits into the house by performing any acts of magick or worship. This was fine by me, I love to be outside for them anyway.

He has recently made it very clear that I have to go to their church (they are Southern Baptists) and he wants me to participate there, he has even made the "suggestion" that I should be baptised! I have tried  explaining to him and my stepmother that it makes me really uncomfortable to do all these things, they don’t care. I have explained to them about the Wiccan religion (good and bad), they don’t listen. I’m at the point now where they won’t even let me use Tarot cards within twenty feet of the house.

Everyone has stated clearly that they don’t like my worshipping the "devil" and when I explain that is has always (even before I was a Wiccan) been my belief that the devil was just a scapegoat that humanity uses for their imperfections, they say they had never said that I was worshipping him, but it was a good way for him to get inside the minds of sweet Christian girls!

I have never been a fucking Christian, dammit! Before Wicca, I was a diehard athiest who believed there was nothing and no one but me in charge.

I need help, how do I get them off my back? If you can, please answer.

Blessed be,

Perfection

You are certainly a spirited sort. We should all be glad it’s not three or four hundred years ago. Southern Baptists are not famous for being tolerant and just remember you’re perhaps not in the right position to try to make them so. There is a whisky called "The Glenlivet" that has a motto which is: "Don’t be hurried". Problems like this one are best viewed as long-term events rather than subject to quickfixes.
Don’t be hurried, Perfection.
