It must be very difficult to travel in Japan if you are not able to speak Japanese. I have been hearing so many complaining like “Expensive”. It is very difficult to distinguish how much is expensive. One thing I may say, still we have many choices. If you collect tons of information, you may travel along your ideal way. When I travel in Japan, I also often use tourist information to find out accommodation. They usually give me pretty much good deal. If you want to book in advance, you should know these below. Basically Japanese types of accommodation, we can check in after 15:00. We must check out before 10:00. Dinner time and breakfast time is already fixed by accommodation. For instance dinner time, you are supposed to start at 18:00 to 19:30. Breakfast time, you should have between 7:00 to 9:00. Mainly Japanese style of Hotel , such as Ryokan, you have to do along their scheduled time. If you really want to free travel, you should stay western style of Hotel in Japan. They charge you only for room. If you stay longer, you may negotiate schedule. Also if you give them tip, you might get good treatment as well. If you really want to get nice service, you should give tip to your room service worker, called Nakai. If you give tip to chef (Itachou), you may get very nice service for sure.

Kokumin Syukusya is a name of accommodation which are public accommodation. It should be cheaper than hotels. Basically included dinner and breakfast in the price.

• Minei Kokumin Syukusya

Minei Kokumin Syukusya is also a name of accommodation which are owned by National park association in Japan. Usually they are located close to national park. It’s should be also cheaper than hotels. Basically included dinner and breakfast in the price.

• Kokumin Nenkin Kinko Hoyou Center

Those accommodation are owned by National Pension Plan Association. Basically user are supposed to be a member of national Pension Plan. Nowadays everybody can use. But cost may be a bit expensive than members.

• Kanpo no Yado

Those accommodations are owned by Postal Life Insurance Corporation. If you are member of Postal Life Insurance, cost should be cheaper than normal price.

Minsyuku is a Japanese style of accommodation. Basically included dinner and breakfast in the price. Minsyuku could be pretty much close to Ryokan and Pension. Ryokan, they hire professionals. They serve you really nice dinner. Minsyuku is mainly owned by normal people. Worker’s level could be between amateur and professional. If your purpose is eating fresh seafood, it’s enough to stay these accommodation. They are cheaper than Ryokan.

Pension is also Minsyuku. Minsyuku is Japanese style of cheap Ryokan. Pension in Japan is Western style of cheap hotel. Basically included dinner and breakfast in the price.

Ryokan is a typical Japanese style of accommodation. Basically included nice dinner and breakfast in the price.
