JACKSON, Miss. (AP) _ Tim Henderson scored 23 points to lead Jackson State as the Tigers held Texas Southern to 19.4 percent shooting in the second half Saturday, January 12, in a 66-57 victory.
Jackson State (3-11, 2-3 Southwestern Athletic Conference) went on a 16-1 run over an 11-minute span in the second half to break the game open. Jackson State led by nine, 53-42, with 5:38 remaining. Texas Southern (1-10, 1-2) pulled to within six, 58-53, with 1:25 left, but Henderson made six of Jackson State's final eight points to secure JSU's second straight win.
Michael Sneed led Texas Southern with 17 points and 14 rebounds. Jackson State made 10-of-15 free throws during the second-half run. Texas Southern led by as many as eight points in the first half. Texas Southern held a 36-32 halftime lead. Jamaal Clark added 12 points and 11 rebounds for Texas Southern. Ra'Kim Hollis added 11 points.
The Tigers return to action, 7:30 p.m., Monday, January 14 against Grambling State in Grambling, Louisiana.
