| Those
Liberal Unpatriotic Bellyachers
|
Every
"liberal" I know complains that
opponents of the war are unfairly
characterized as unpatriotic. I don't
actually know any supporters of the war
who characterize ALL critics as
unpatriotic.
I certainly don't. Those who complain
this way, however, should consider the
statements of Michael Moore that the
Iraqi terrorists killing American troops
are actually "patriots" and
should be compared to the American
founders. Those that follow in lockstep
with Moore should be called
"unpatriotic",
as Moore.
Many remember that this was the chorus
heard from the mouths of anti-war
protesters in the Vietnam era about the
Stalinist Ho Chi Minh.
The wars have changed but the unpatriotic
tune hasn't. Those who want the enemy to
win should indeed have their patriotism
questioned.
How can you love your country if you want
its enemies to win? This is a question
that should be put to all those
"liberals" who want to be seen
as patriotic but who have embraced
America's enemies, sometimes directly and
sometimes indirectly by embracing
anti-American supporters of the
terrorists like Michael Moore, and
through him the Zarqawi
"resisters" in Iraq.
Protesters who cheer our enemies are our
enemies. And they should get the message
that that's how we view them.
Unfortunately we're not getting this
message across as a nation. As a result
they feel free to say things like this.
