Eye Witness Accounts

This section will possibly remain sparce, for a while, as I gather eye witness accounts of ghost sightings and other paranormal phenomena at/under/around the bridge. I have no way of verifying what I report, though I will attempt to post reliable sources.

Tuesday, 12 August 2003. A high school girl I actually know, the one and same who first told me about Trodes Bridge, confided in me today that she has had many 'strange' experiences at the (but mostly under the) bridge. She told me about a break in the south side chain link fence, and how it has beeen covered, as if to repair it. (I will check this out.) She told me that someone escaped from a mental institution in the area, cut through the fence, and jumped to his death on the tracks. She said she has seen ghosts from underneath, looking to the south, a boy walking on the tracks. She told me it is dangerous under the bridge, that gangs meet there, and not to go alone. She said there are bits of clothes and other objects scattered about under the bridge, and that it all has meaning. She told me about a date painted on the wall under the bridge, a future date when someone else will take the plunge from the top of the bridge...in 1904. This girl visits the bridge often and says one must be under the bridge to have similar experiences. Please Note: It is illegal to go down to the tracks. It has been reported by a member at the GhostZoo paranormal Forum that the railroad authorities are authorized to shoot [dummy bullets] at you if you are caught down there.

She also spoke of an abandoned monastery in the area, a place where all the doors are securely padlocked from the outside. Cobwebs verify that they have not been entered. She told me she can see in the window, and sees a computer screen running, and always the same web page displayed. I will try to get more details.

A Student From Birmingham High School

July 2004. This is an account I received by email (July 2004) from a Birmingham High School student, printed with his/her permission.

I am a student at a birmingham high school. I went down to the bridge a few days ago with a group of friends, after finding this site. We parked at Sacred Heart. As we were walking toward kensington the last light lighting up the entrance to Sacred Heart began flickering and went dead.

We walked to the bridge and ventured down the trail on the southeast side to the tracks. The trail was rough and had a few steep cut offs that you need to watch out for also theres a lot of broken glass in that area. Underneath the bridge was very erry alot of graffiti that was hard to make out. A friend brought his camera and attempted to take a picture but the battery he had just put in that morning went dead for a few minutes, but after a few more attempts went by and he managed to snap two pictures of the site before the battery went dead again. It definitely seemed like someone didnt want us there. We didn't see any ropes or evidence of suicide under the bridge but on our way back we noticed what we thought to be a white jacket which turned out to be a robe (possible KKK.)

When we returned to top of the bridge my friend's camera came back to full battery. Very creepy. We all agreed that it was kind of eerie but not as bad as we expected. A few hours later one of the kids in our group was passed out puking in the corner of the room, only to awake fine the following day. This could be completely unrelated but is suspicious.

In conclusion, there is definitely something wrong down there you can feel it when your there and anytime you think of your experience after that. I don't recommend thrill seekers to venture down there unless your prepared to deal with what might come.
