NKP 765 Back Under Steam
|
[New Haven, IN] - From the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society
It is done. The 765 rebuild is complete. 12 years,$600,000+ and over 8,500 man hours have gone into revitalizing a living, breathing piece of history that would make proud the men of the Lima Locomotive Works who created her 64 years ago.
The men and women of the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society have labored long and hard for their love of this locomotive.
And it's time to throw a party.
The Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society invites the general public to our annual Open House to Celebrate the work of our members and crew and the return of our beloved Berkshire.

Steaming
Again!
While the group has no plans to steam on open rails this year, Nickel Plate Berkshire 765 is primed to do so! 2006 promises to be an exciting year with the return of this magnificant steam engine to the high iron.
Not since 1993 has the 765 riden the rails in all her glory. But today, we stand poised to welcome her back.
Welcome back, 765. And a huge thanks to the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society for staring down this daunting task for a second time.
