JUMP ROPE/HOOPS
FOR HEART
All students at
Trailridge will be invited to participate in a fundraiser for the American
Heart Association. Students will ask
family, friends, and neighbors to pledge money for their jumping rope or
shooting hoops from 2:30-4:40 P.M. on Thursday, February 1. Students must choose to jump rope or play
basketball for the allotted time. Prizes
such as T-shirts, jump ropes, light propellers, voice changer, swim
radio, mini phone recorder, water bottles and basketballs will be given to
students, depending on the amount of donations collected. $15.00 is the minimum donation. Anyone who donates over $50.00 will receive
an extra signature for each $50.00. We
will be asking parents to help provide refreshments for the day of the
jump. There will be a late bus.
There will be a special meeting on Friday, January 19 to distribute
materials for this event. You must have
a parent permission form signed and returned to Mrs. Pike by Wednesday, January
17, to attend the meeting.
Friday,
February 23rd, KATS Stars with six Trailridge signatures or more since
November 1 will go to
SPRING CLEANING
It’s time to clean out
your closets! Be sure to make a pile of
clothes (especially jeans) that you no longer wear. The PTA and KATS will be collecting clothes

Take home a box for beverage
tabs. The aluminum is sold for recycling and the money goes to
Ronald McDonald House, a "home away from home" for families of
children with serious illnesses who are undergoing treatment at local
hospitals. When your box is full bring it to Room 17 and get another
box.
Check out our updated web site at www.geocities.com/trkats. You can see our calendar of this year’s
activities and pictures of past events.
ELECTRONIC BOARD
Each
Friday, Ronnie Chandra or Hannah Biegel program the electronic board in the MPR to list the names of
the students having birthdays that week.
If you see a name that has been omitted or spelled wrong, please let
Mrs. Ramsey know. Thanks
Ronnie and Hannah.
KATS CARDS
Each time you work for
thirty minutes, be sure to get your KATS card signed. When the card is filled out, you become a
KATS Star and eligible for field trips and special parties. Your KATS card is your pass to be in the
halls before 8:30 A.M. Carry it in your
hand. Please do not use your locker before 8:30 A.M.
Your KATS card is not a locker
pass. KATS workers are needed Monday,
Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings at 8:00 A.M. and after school on
Tuesdays. You do not have to let anyone
know you are coming; just come in and we’ll put you to work. Members also can make arrangements with a
teacher to work after school.
Be sure to get
signatures from the sponsors or from the teacher you work for on the day you work. It is really tough to sign cards for work
done two weeks ago. Also your KATS card
is valuable. A lost card can be replaced, but the signatures
cannot.
Any student who has turned in a completed
KATS card should check the bulletin board outside the library to see if their
name is on a star. Please inform Mrs.
Pike if your name is missing.
Congratulations to new KATS Stars Andrew Bateman, Hayden Stimach, and Erica Waltman. Stars with 6 cards are Shannon Knoll, Evan Neuman and Hannah Sharpe.
Sarah Briggs, Brianna Clayton, and Haylee
Slocum have 7 stars. Johnny Tong and
Savannah Bell have 8 cards finished and Emily Chambers has 9.
Siobhan Barrett and Kristina Buchanan have 10 completed. Way to GO Stars!
PRESIDENT'S STUDENT SERVICE AWARDS
The President's
Student Service Challenge is a White House initiative, which recognizes young
Americans with awards and scholarships for outstanding community service, while
encouraging more young people to serve.
Middle school students who contribute at least 50 hours of service to the
community are eligible for the new Bronze Award. If you work 75 or more hours
you will receive the Silver Award and if you volunteer 100 hours or more you
earn the Gold Award.
Please get a form from
Mrs. Pike to keep track of your hours worked outside of school.
There will be a meeting
for all KATS Stars the second Tuesday of the month from 8:05 to 8:30 AM in the
library. During this time, Stars will
vote on KATS activities, give their input and ideas, and plan the general
meetings. You’ve earned the right to be
a decision-maker and leader in our club.
Please come to these meetings.
The next meeting is Tuesday, February 13. You must be a Star to attend.
The next regular KATS meeting is Thursday, February 15, during the second
half of 6th hour.
