NATIONAL SERVICE CHALLANGE
The
President's Student Service Challenge is a White House initiative, which
recognizes young Americans with awards and scholarships for outstanding
community service, while encouraging more young people to serve. Middle school students who contribute at
least 50 hours of service to the community are eligible for the new Bronze
Award. If you work 75 or more hours you will receive the Silver Award and if
you volunteer 100 hours or more you earn the Gold Award.
The
President's Student Service Challenge is intended to recognize, reward, and
encourage activities that have a significant impact in meeting the needs of
local communities. Types of service could include: service with community or
religious organizations, service through school or community-based service
learning projects, and individual efforts to help others and improve the local
community. KATS work, of course, counts
too!
Please get a
form from Mrs. Keeton to keep track of your hours worked outside of school. In order to be counted in this school year,
all forms are due at the end of April.
