About 50km from Wilcannia at Maccullochs Range there is a rest area that would be suitable for overnight stay. Ditto about 70 km out from Cobar. We stopped in Wilcannia to refuel and then continued on another 50km to Maccullochs Range rest area where we had a cuppa and a sandwhich. There were a lot of Apostle birds in the rest area. There were thousands of Emus along the way. In some cases there was about 60 or so Emu in each mob. Generally they were inside the boundary fences but there was quite a lot on the road verge and you never knew which way they would take off. We also saw quite a few wild goats. After arriving in Cobar we partly set up the van then went down to the shopping centre. Odette was able to fix up her PIN for her replacement Visa card and we also did some grocery shopping. Cobar appears to be a tidy, well presented town. We shouted ourselves chicken and chips for dinner, our first "take away" so to speak. Later we watched the State of Origin football and then the Soccer World Cup match between Turkey and Brazil (0-1). Frost on the ground in the morning. |
