But on to your question...there really is no one word to describe the Anal Mullet sound, maybe people say Grindcore, some people say Asscore, or even Mulletmetal
The Overlord : I just popped a boner
Baz - What motivated you to sprout and cultivate Anal Mullet?
The Grinder - Well one day, we went out to the stor and bought some mullet seeds, and then we wiped our asses with them and what came out of the ground was an explosion of musical genius
The Overlord - In other words, The Grinder and I were really bored one days and we were listening to Anal Cunt and thought about how anybody could make a band, and suddenely Anal Mullet was born.
Baz - How many peple are currently involved in Anal Mullet? Does it sport only one or two stubborn whinnets, or is it surrounded by a colony of clustered haemorrhoids?
The Grinder - Well currently it is just the two mullet men, The Overlord and I. But we are planning on having some haemorrhoid infestations with some other vocalists for some guest tracks.
The Overlord - I don't know what a whinnet is, but if you mean wieners, yeah i've got only stubborn weiner but I can't speak for the Grinder, he may have two. And no, luckily mine isn't surrounded by a colony of haemorrhoids.
Baz - What is the current Anal Mullet discography? Which of your works stand out as the most unsightly boil?
The Grinder - Right now we have only released a few demos ourselves. But we are planning on releasing a full length soon.
The Overlord - In May of 2001 after being rated the #2 Grindcore band in the world on mp3.com, we released Demo 2001. This release contained 6 of our songs up to date and one bonus track. After a years of reflection and pondering, we recorded 6 more songs including David's Afraid of Water, Charlie has a Schnozz, You Mom Plays the Bass, So I Hit Her in the Head, You Ate My Cat with Chopsticks and Shut Up Emo Fag. Combined with our previous material this was all bundled together and was released in June of 2003, under the title of Demo 2002. Shortly after Shut Up Emo Fag was a part of the Frenzy Radio D.I.Y. Compilation. Since then we have recorded several of our best and most creative works to daye which will be released on our upcoming full length.
Baz - Which band/s would you most like to appear alongside on a split release?
The Grinder - I think it would be funny to have a split with Anal Cunt and see how much we can make fun of each other on it.
The Overlord - We're not planning on it. Personally I feel that being packaged together with other bands that do not share the same message of Anal Mullet would only work to hamper our voice and creative efforts. However, in the case that we should run into another asscore band that shares our vision, I would definitely be willing to be on a split release with them.
Baz - What are your views on the striking number of bands whose name begins with the word 'Anal'? Who is your favourite?
The Grinder - There are other 'Anal' bands out there??? I thought we were the only ones original enough to come up with that one. Ok, back to the drawing board... Well it's surprising to actually see how many 'Anal' bands there are. When I looked it up, there are a lot of people that are obsessed with the anus I guess and they seem to be leaning more towards the mutilation side of the anus [Anal Blast, Anal Bleeding, Anal Massaker]. It's quite funny actually.
The Overlord - I'd have to say Anal Blast though Anal Blizzard would be a close second. It's really not that strange that there are so many bands focused on the rectal area of the body. I mean look how many bands have 'heart' [Heart, Black Heart Procession...] in their name, or 'head' [Skarhead, Motorhead, Radiohead...]. The anus is just as important for like as the heard or the head so why not have 'anal' bands as well?
Baz - Who have you been listening to lately?
The Grinder : Well I was just walking past the bathroom and I was listening to my roommate take a crap. It was quite humourous to say the least.
The Overlord - I've been into Finnish Melodic Death Metal lately. Besides Children of Bodom, I've been listening to Norther and Eternal Tears of Sorrow [Kalmah side project].
Baz - Have any live Anal Mullet performances taken place? If not, do you plan to leave any rectal haris in the soap at any gig venues in future?
The Grinder - If anybody has seen Anal Mullet play live, then they are the greatest AM fan of them all!!!
The Overlord - There's a bootleg recording of us playing in Kabul, Afghanistan just prior to the fall of the Taliban. We played in Mayhem in the Mist to a large fan of terrorists including Mullah Mohammed Omar, Osama bin Laden and Maulana Masoon Azhar with the infamous lyrics 'YOU'RE GONNA DIE'. Can't say we didn't warn them!
Baz - Do you have a favourite Anal Mullet song?
The Grinder - Well my current favourite is 'You Went to a Peach March' but it's really hard to pick favourites, it's just like picking your favourite child. Well, unless one of the children gets a contagious skin disease and grows boils all over their face and then dies from facial bleeding. You know how that goes.
The Overlord - I'd say Mayhem in the Mist. Not only because that was the song that brought us to fame but also because it was one of the most amazing recording experiences ever.
Baz - Many thanks for this interview! What can we expect from the band in future?
