SPAMICIDAL!

This is a fuckin harsh and noisy band. Starting out as an Insane Clown Posse stlye outfit in 2000, Spamicidal! was formed by ex Dysfunkt member Spam. After a string of albums and two splits, a split album entitled the Three Way Clit with Noisegrind act Catatonic Disoreinetation and Aleut, and one with crazy Cybergrind band Sleepy Samurai, Spamicidal! put together the large set of songs heard on this split.

First tune is I Made A Virgin Mary Statue Bleed Because I Beat The Shit Out Of It, which plunges us straight into fucking insane Spamicidal! oblivion from the very first note. A razor sharp riff lashes out a few times, backed by some fast drumming and cymbal crashery. Spam bellows into the mic what sounds like the song title, loud as fuck in a harsh and nasty yell, the song ending in just under ten seconds. Subseqeuent songs follow similar patterns, battering everything in their path. By the third song it's clear that Spam is a fuckin nutter.

The songs clatter past in a highly uncompromising manner, with all the songs souding quite similar. They are all urgent, crushing blasts of noisy Grindcore, with often speed picked and occassionally harmonic punctuated riffs being played on a trebly guitar, commendable drumming and shocking, vitriol drenched vokills. Spam's drums are the only drums played on a real kit on the enitre split. There aren't many lyrics to the songs and like split-mates Count Chopula, Spam vokillises the song titles for the most part. This makes for simple compositions, also allowing the listener to scream along should the mood take them.

However, the similarity between a lot of the riffs and the way the songs have been written does make for a repetetive set of songs, with precious little variation or elements other than the sheer intensity to keep our interest. Pickled Tampons For Breakfast stands out though, with its simple, bassy riff opening the song, before changing to another speedpicked one, with Spam screaming out the title a few times, the drumming being more or less all over the fuckin shop.

The production of Spamicidal!'s side of the split is of rehearsal room tape quailty. It sounds like bugger all has been altered or mastered or anything like that, with everything exactly as it did the day it was played, with no effects or anything. This does well to  keep the side of songs pure, raw and nasty.

I'd say Spamicidal! is one of the most striking bands on the split in terms of intensity and harshness. The only downside is the similarity between a lot of the songs, which does make many of them bleed into one around the midway area. Seeing as the set is ascerbic, relentless and raw, this factor doesn't damage the overall rating dramatically. Spam himself said to me that he's not all that keen on this particular recording, so I don't reckon he'd be that devastated at the rating his part of the split gets.

3/5

5 WAY SPLIT

This is a nasty yet fun split CD-r with five great bands who all sound completely different. Coprophiliacs Anonymous have done extremely well with this shit splattered, porn littered, gore dribbled piece of growly mayhem. This is five bands all playing different strains of Grindcore all on the same CD for only $5, which works out at around three quid. An all round beauty of a release.
Listen to it while having a shit

Overall - 5/5 easily
