DISCLAIMER: THESE CHARACTERS ARE NOT MINE. THEY BELONG TO DAVID E. KELLEY AND 20TH CENTURY FOX. "TRY AGAIN" Bobby Donnell and Lindsay Dole walked through the door of their apartment. It was late and they were just getting home from court. The verdict had come in their hit and run case, not guilty. They were both exhausted. "I'll check the machine," Lindsay called to Bobby who had walked into the bathroom. "OK." Lindsay walked to the desk and pressed play on the answering machine. "Hi Lindsay, it's Mom. Hi Bobby. I was just calling to pester the two of you about setting a date for your wedding. I know that you are both busy, but your father and I want you two to get married sometime before we die. Ok? Call me tomorrow. Lindsay your dad says hi to both of you. I'll talk to you later. Bye." "Tuesday. 9:40 pm." the machine announced. "Hello Lindsay, remember me? You're still alive and so am I. The police shot the wrong man. You know the old saying, `if at first you don't succeed, try, try, again' . Don't worry, I plan to." "Tuesday, 9:49 pm." Lindsay's face turned pale white. She stood at the desk, shaking. Bobby walked out of the bathroom. "Lindsay, any messages for me?" Lindsay didn't answer. She just stood there, perfectly still. "Lindsay, Lindsay what is it? What's wrong?" He was now standing next to her. Bobby put his hand on her back and she jumped. "Sweetheart, what is it?" Lindsay rewound the tape and played the message for Bobby. His face turned bright red and he looked at Lindsay. "We have to call Mike." he said. "I know." she responded. "He and Helen had a date tonight. I don't have his cell phone number, but I could call hers." "yeah. Let's do it right now." Lindsay picked up the phone and dialed the number. "Hello?" Helen said. "Helen, it's me." "Lindsay, what's wrong?" "Is Mike still with you?" "Yes, he's right here." "Can I talk to him?" "Uh, sure." Helen hands the phone to Mike. He takes it from her with a puzzled look on his face. "Hi Lindsay. What's going on?" "Mike, I'm sorry to bother you, but I need to see you immediately." "What happened?" "Someone left a threatening message on our machine. I think you need to hear it." "Are you alone?" "No. Bobby's here. Will you bring Helen with you?" "Of course. We'll be right there." "Thanks Mike. I'll see you soon." "Bye." Mike handed the phone back to Helen. "Let's go." he said. "Mike, tell me what happened." "Helen, I'll explain on the way. We have to go now." The two left the restaurant where they had just finished dinner. They drove quickly to Bobby's apartment. When they arrived, Bobby answered the door, looking anxious and angry. Lindsay was sitting on the couch, curled up in the corner with a glass of wine. Helen immediately went to her friend's side and hugged her. "Are you ok?" Helen asks. "Sure. I find out the man who we all thought stabbed me didn't and that the person who did is still out there and waiting to take another whack at me." "Lindsay, come on." Bobby said. "This might just be someone's idea of a sick joke. Whoever he is, we'll find him." "How Bobby? We have no idea who it could be, do we? We all thought it was Kingston and it turns out it wasn't." "Alright, you two. Let me hear the message." said Mike. Mike, Helen and Bobby walked to the desk and listened to the message. Lindsay remained on the couch, holding her wine glass in her shaking hands. " I need to take the tape and file a report. I'll check phone records and see if we can get a number of where the call was originated. Lindsay, I need you to sit down tomorrow at the office and go through all of your cases. See if there's anyone that you are represented that you think that could possibly have motive. I'll need a list of possible suspects, so we can start narrowing the field. Bobby, help her with that. Also, ask everyone at the firm to think about any disgruntled clients any of them have had lately. Call me tomorrow when you have come up with some names, ok?" "Mike I want a copy of that tape" "Why?" I want everyone at the office to know whats going on. They need to know, because this could very well effect them." "All right Bobby. Stop by tomorrow on your way to the office and I will have a copy waiting for you." "Thanks Mike." Lindsay said. "I really appreciate you coming over so quickly. I'm sorry for interupting your dinner." Helen Said, "you didn't. We had finished. Now are you ok? Do you need anything?" "No I'll be fine. Bobby is here. I'll be fine." Lindsay answered. " Thankyou both for coming over." Bobby said. "Mike, I'll pick the tape up in the morning. "Sounds Good."Mike responded."Lindsay try and get some rest, ok?" "I will. Thanks again Mike." "Anytime." Helen kissed Lindsay good night and followed Mike out the door. Bobby locked the door after them and walked over to Lindsay who was still seated on the couch. He sat next to her and rapped his arms around her. Bobby kissed her cheek and held her tight. She softly began to sob, her cries barely audible because her face was pressed against Bobby's chest. He took the wine glass out of her hand and set it on the coffee table. Then he stood up and picked her up off the couch. He carried her into the bedroom and helped her undress. Then, he laid her down on the bed and he laid right next to her, holding her, stroking her hair, kissing her. He held her that way all night. When she woke up screaming, he was right there to comfort her. He did that several times that night. The next morning, Bobby and Lindsay arrived at the office later thatn usual. Lucy was sitting at her desk as they walked in. "gee, you two look terrible. What the hell happened to you?" "Lucy!" Ellenor yelled. "Shut up!" Ellenor got up from her desk and walked over to Lindsay's. She knew something was really wrong, but she was afraid to ask. Everyone was in the office, so Bobby decided that now would be a good time to tell them what hppened last night. "Can I see you guys in the conference room? You too Lucy." "What's going on?" Eugene asked. "I'll tell you in a minute." Bobby responded. Everyone took a seat around the conference table, Bobby at the head and Lindsay, as always, sat to his left. He looked at her and could see all the fear and terror she was feeling. He was feeling it too. He was worried that he would have a hard time telling them what was going on. He didn't want them to see how terrified he was. They already knew he was scared, they just didn't know why. "Last night,"Bobby began, "when Lindsay and I got home, there were two messages on our machine. The first one was from Lindsay's mom. This is the second one." He placed a small tape recorder on the table and glanced at Lindsay. She nodded to him and reached for his hand. He took it and pressed play on the tape player. "Hello Lindsay, remember me? You're still alive and so am I. The police shot the wrong man. You know the old saying, `if at first you don't succeed, try, try, again' . Don't worry, I plan to." Bobby stopped the tape and looked around. Everyone was silent. Lindsay had a tear running down her cheek. Bobby reached over and wiped it away. Lindsay looked at Ellenor who seemed to be in shock and Rebecca was sitting with her hands covering her face. Eugene was the first to speak. "You called the police, I hope." "Yeah, immediately. Mike came over and took the tape. He wants us to come up with a list of former clients who might want to kill...(he paused for a moment not wanting to say the words)... who might want Lindsay dead." "So it wasn't the nun killer." Lucy said. "Apparently not." "Look, we basically have nothing to go on. Mike wants any lead he can grab hold of. That's just somewhere for him to start." Bobby said. "Well, what are we going to do to protect you?" asked Rebecca. "Obviously the son of a bitch has to know that we aren't going to let you out of our sight." "Maybe that's what he wants, for us to be on alert. It would pose more of a challenge." stated Ellenor. "That could be." added Eugene. "Maybe he wants to try again right under our noses." "That's possible." said Bobby. "Look Mike said he was going to try and get a police officer assigned to follow Lindsay." "Bobby, I don't want a cop following me everywhere I go." Lindsay said. "I have a gun, and I know how to use it." "yeah, your gun really helped when you were stabbed right outside this room, didn't it?" Bobby argued. "Besides, I don't like the idea of you carrying that thing around all the time." "Bobby I will not be treated like a criminal because I didn't do anything wrong!" Lindsay shot back. "This is not up for discussion! You nearly died five months ago and I will not go through that again! I can't! So if having a cop follow tou 24 hours a day might prevent anything from happening, then that's what we are going to do!" he shouted. Lindsay looked at him. His face was red and tears were making his blue eyes glisten. No one said a word. This had become a private matter between the couple something they shouldn't be part of, but no one moved. Bobby continued to look at Lindsay as she started to cry. First, her cries were silent, then they grew louder and louder. Bobby stood up and knelt next to her. He took her face in his hands and looked at her. She continued to cry and he hugged her. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to yell at you. I just can't bear the thought of anything happening to you again. I felt my life slipping away from me when you were stabbed and I know I can't go through that again." "I know. I know. You're right." Lindsay whispered. "I''m just so scared." She began to cry again and everyone, led by Ellenor, filed out of the room. Lucy softly closed the door behind her. Lindsay and Bobby stayed there a little longer, holding each other and crying. Slowly, they calmed down. Bobby let go of her and looked her right in the eyes." "I will do whatever it takes to protect you. I don't care what it is. I never want to find you the way I did that night. It tore me apart, seeing you like that, knowing I couldn't do anything to help you. Well, now I can and I will. I love you, more than anything in the world and I am not going to lose you. I can't." Lindsay started to cry again, as did Bobby. "I know you will do whatever you can to keep me safe. I never doubt that." Lindsay said. Lindsay held Bobby's hand to her face and gently kissed it. "I love you Bobby, with all my heart." "I know. I love you too." END OF PART ONE PART TWO TO FOLLOW HOPE YOU LIKE IT! hi everyone! here is part two of my fanfic. hope you enjoy it!! DISCLAIMER: THESE CHARACTERS BELONG TO DAVID E. KELLEY AND 20TH CENTURY FOX. Twenty minutes after everyone had left the conference room, Bobby and Lindsay emerged, hand in hand, their eyes red and swollen from crying. Lucy walked up to them and looked at Lindsay, then hugged her. Slowly, everyone walked over to them and hugged and kissed Lindsay, saying they will do everything they can to help them find the person who stabbed her. As Jimmy was hugging Lindsay, the phone rang. "Donnell, Young, Dole and Frutt" Lucy said. "Just a minute. Bobby, it's Mike. He wants to talk to you and Lindsy." Bobby turned to Lindsay and took her hand. He led her into his office where they sat and picked up the phone. "Mike, what's going on? What did you find out?" "The call was made from a pay phone one block from your apartment." "What?" "Whoever it is, they must know where you two live. Also, lab analysis shows that the caller used a voice synthesizer to distort his voice. Other than that, nothing else really showed up." Mike said. "That's it?" Bobby asked. "Unfortunately yes. Have you come up with a list yet?" "We're working on it. Did you find out about police protection for Lindsay? Can we get someone to guard her?" "I haven't had a chance to talk to my captain about it, but as soon as I do, I'll let you know." "Thanks Mike. I know you will do your best." "Ok. Listen, call me when you have a list put together." "We will. Thanks Mike." "Anytime." Bobby hung up the phone and looked at Lindsay. He could see the fear resurfacing. "It's going to be ok" he assured her. "I know." she replied. "We'll find him and then we can do what your mom wants, and plan the wedding." Lindsay gave him a weak smile. "That sounds good." The couple walked out of his office and updated everyone. They had been thinking and the only client they could come up with who might want to kill Lindsay was Joey Heric. Rebecca mentioned Judge Kittleson's name, but Jimmy strongly argued that Lindsay was sure that it was a man who stabbed her. Rebecca suggested that she could have hired someone to attack Lindsay, but that too was shot down by Jimmy. Bobby and Lindsay couldn't think of anyone either. Bobby went into his office and called Mike. Lindsay sat doen at her desk and tried to get some work done. A few moments later, the mailman walked in and gave the bundle of mail to Lucy. However, there was a registered envelope that Lindsay had to sign for. She signed the clipboard and thanked the mailman. She reached inside her desk drawer and took out her letter opener and opened the envelope. She emptied the envelope and when she saw the contents, she screamed. Bobby came running out of his office and everyone crowded around her desk. Bobby took the envelope and its contents from her and looked horrified. There was a picture of Lindsay, wearing the suit she had on the night she was stabbed. The picture itself had been slashed three times in the chest and abdomen. There was also a piece of paper which he picked up and read. "What does it say?" Lindsay asked. "It says `soon Lindsay my mistake will be corrected.'" The note was handwritten, which surprised Bobby. But that was the least of his concerns. Lindsay was crying hard and Rebecca was standing behind her, hugging her. Bobby placed the note and photo back in the envelope and told Lucy to call Mike immediately. She walked to her desk and dialed Mike's number. Rebecca said to Bobby," Why don't you two go home. Lucy can tell Mike to meet you there. Go ahead. I think she's had enough for one day, we can handle everything else." Lindsay said, "I have cases I need to work on." "They can wait until tomorrow Lindsay. Come on. Let's go home." Lindsay relented and stood up from her desk. She grabbed her briefcase. Bobby walked quickly into his office and got his. He took the envelope and put it inside his briefcase and then helped Lindsay put her coat on. They walked toward the door and said goodbye to everyone. When they were gone, Ellenor gave Rebecca a look that she immediately understood. She was horrified. "I don't know how much of this Lindsay can take. She looks like she is going to break." Ellenor said. "I have never seen her like this," Rebecca responded. "Nor Bobby. Every time he looked at her, it was as if he was seeing her for the last time." "Well, that's what he's afraid of," said Eugene. "I can't imagine how he feels right now. He looked terrified." "He was trying to hide it, for her sake I think." Jimmy said. "Yeah, well he wasn't doing too good a job of it" Lucy chimed in. They all glared at her and she said "What? You know I'm right." She was. "They both need us now more than ever" Jimmy said. "That's right. Look, until this is resolved, I don't think we should take any new cases." Eugene stated. "We need to keep finding Lindsay's attackeer the nubmer one priority, don't you agree?" "Absolutely" said Rebecca. "I agree" said Ellenor. "Yes" was Jimmy's response. Just then Helen walked in. She looked very upset. "Have Bobby and Lindsay been in at all today?" she asked. "They just left." said Ellenor. "Lindsay got a picture of herself in the mail that had been slashed. There was a note with it that said something like, soon the mistake will be corrected." "Oh God" said Helen. "Rebecca convinced them to go home and relax." said Lucy. "Not like that's possible" said Rebecca. "Did they call Mike about the picture?" asked Helen. "I did" Lucy answered. "I told him to meet them at their apartment." "Ok. Listen, I'm going to head over there, too. I will talk to you all later." Helen turned and walked out of the office. Slowly, everyone returned to their desks, trying to wrap their minds around what had just happened in the past hour. Gradually, they began working and trying to go on as if it were any other day. END OF PART 2 PART THREE WILL BE READY BY WEDNESDAY. ok, here's part three! enjoy! DISCLAIMER: THESE CHARACTERS BELONG TO DAVID E KELLEY AND 20TH CENTURY FOX. Lindsay and Bobby arrived home and sat down on the couch. Bobby took his shoes off and reached for Lindsay's feet to take hers off as well. "I'm tired." she sighed. "I know you are, So am I. Why don't we try to take a nap?" "I really doubt I can." Lindsay answered. "But you could try. Come on, we'll go to bed." He stood up and reached for her hand. Lindsay placed her hand in his and they walked to the bedroom. Lindsay laid with her head on Bobby's chest and his arms wrapped around her. He gently kissed her forehead. "I love you." he whispered. "I love you too" mumbled Lindsay, who was already falling asleep. Bobby closed his eyes and drifted off as well. About half an hour later, the sound of the doorbell woke Bobby. Lindsay was still asleep, so he carefully got up without waking her. He covered her with the blanket and went to answer the door. It was Helen. "Hey, what are you doing here?" he asked. "I stopped by your office and they said you two had just left. I thought Mike was supposed to be meeting you guys here." "Yeah, he is. He was out on a call and he said he should be here in about an hour, so we decided to take a nap." "That's right. He is investigating an armed robbery at a gas station." Helen said. "Really? Hmm. So, did they fill you in on the latest?" "About the picture? Yeah." "It was her in the same suit she was wearing the night she was attacked." "You're kidding." Helen said. "I wish I were." "Bobby, what are we going to do? How are we going to find this sick bastard?" "I don't know. What I do know is that we have to do it soon because I don't know how much more of this Lindsay can take. She barely slept at all last night. She kept waking up, screaming and crying. I am surprised she is still asleep now." With uncanny timing, Lindsay screamed and Bobby ran right into the bedroom with Helen close behind. Lindsay was sitting straight up in the bed shaking, her face red and damp from crying. Bobby sat next to her on the bed. She fell into his lap and sobbed. "I was so scared. I woke up and you were gone." "I'm sorry sweetheart. Helen was at the door. You're ok. I'm right here. Did you have another nightmare?" She nodded. "Same one actually. I wish it would change a little. I'm getting tired of being stabbed over and over." "I know. Listen do you want to come into the living room? Mike should be coming soon and Helen's here." "Sure." Slowly, Lindsay let go of Bobby and the two walked into the living room, following Helen. "Do you want something to drink?" Bobby asked Lindsay. "I'll have a glass of water please." she answered. "Ok. Helen?" "I'll have the same. Thanks Bobby." Bobby walked into the kitchen and Helen and Lindsay stayed on the couch. Helen took Lindsay''s hand and looked at her friend. She hated to think it, but Lindsay looked terrible. Her eyes were swollen, from crying to be sure. She had a faraway look on her face and her exhaustion was evident. "How you doing babe?" she asked. "Oh, just great. How about you?" "Well, to be honest, I'm really worried about you." "I wonder why." "Gee Lindsay, I don't know. Someone is threatening you. He wants to kill you." "Yes, and whoever he is, he's very good at what he's doing. Did you hear about the picture?" "Uh-huh. Listen, we are going to find him, no matter what it takes. Mike is quite determined." "Helen, can we talk about something else?" "Sure. Whatever you want." "So, how was your date with Mike last night, I mean, before I interrupted?" "It was fine." "Just fine?" "I actually had a really good time." Bobby walked back in carrying two glasses of water and a diet coke.He handed Lindsay and Helen their water and sat on the chair next to the couch. "What are you two talking about?" he asked. "Helen's date with Mike" Lindsay told him. "Oh yeah. How did that go?" "Really well, I think. He's a great guy." "Yes he is." Lindsay said. "So, are you going out with him again?" "yeah, tomorrow night." "Good, I'm glad." said Lindsay. "So, how is your case going? I heard the DNA evidence was inconclusive." Bobby said to Helen. "Yeah, isn't that great. The one chance at hard evidence and it's inconclusive. I'm thinking of offering a plea bargain." "You don't have anything else?" Lindsy asked. "Nothing concrete. I need to talk to Richard about it." "The midget?" Bobby asked. "Yes the midget." Helen said. "Helen, he's a jackass. Why are you going to ask his opinion?" "Because he's a good lawyer and a good DA." "Yeah right." Bobby laughed. "Bobby, he is a good lawyer." Lindsay stated. "He's beaten us." Bobby just rolled his eyes at her. "So Lindsay, have you talked to your brother lately?" Helen asked, changing the subject. "No, but my mom says he's doing really well." "I'm glad." "Yeah." "Hey, I have a great idea! Why don't I make an appointment for the two of us at the spa? You can get a massage, facial, whatever you want. It might make you feel better." Lindsay looked at Bobby. She knew he would oppose the idea instantly. "Helen," Lindsay began, "I don't think that's such a good idea." "Why not? Come on, it'll be fun. Every other time we were supposed to go, you couldn't." "I'm sure it would, but..." "But what? What's the problem?" "The problem is," Bobby interrupted, "that things are bad right now. Lindsay is being terrorized and stalked by someone who is hell bent on killing her and you want her to go to a spa?" "That's exactly why I want her to go. Hopefully, it will take her mind off of everything and give her a chance to relax." "It's not safe. I don't want her to risk it." Bobby said adamantly. "What, you think thi psycho will attack her during her facial?" "You never know." was Bobby's response. "Bobby," Lindsay said, "What if you came too?" "Lindsay..." "Look, I know how you feel, I do. We went through all this earlier, remember? I agree that I need to be very careful, but I also want to try and be as normal as possible. If I am forced to live like a prisoner, then he's won half the battle." "Sweetheart..." "Come on, please? Come with me." Lindsay looked at him and smiled and he knew he couldn't say no to her. Shew as right. No matter how scared they were, hiding out was gining in and he didn't want to do that. He loved her all the more for refusing to surrender everything to this maniac. "All right. Helen, make the appointment. I'll be your bodyguard for the day." Lindsay looked at Bobby and said "I love you." "I love you too." He reached over and kissed her. "Ok, that's enough." said Helena s she looked at her watch. "Listen, I have to get going. I'll call the spa and make the appointment and I'll call you later tonight." "Sounds good." Lindsay said. She stood and walked her friend to the door. SHe hugged Helen as she left and closed and locked the door behind her. Lindsay turned and faced Bobby. He was worried, she could see it in his eyes. "Don't worry Bobby, everything is going to be ok." He walked to her and hugged her. He held her so tight, she could barely move. She could feel him trembling. Then he whimpered and sighed. "Bobby, if you really don't want me to go, I won't." "No, you're right. I just can't help being concerned, that's all." "Yeah, I know." She took his face in her hands and kissed him hard on the lips. He kissed her back, passionately. His hands moved up her back and to her hair. He kissed her neck and earlobes. They were interrupted by a knock at the door. Bobby groaned and slowly released Lindsay from his embrace. He went to the door and looked through the peephole. "Hi Mike." he said as he opened the door. "Hey, sorry it took me so long. I was working another case." "That's ok. Come on in." Bobby said. "Would you like something to drink?" "No thanks. I really can't stay. How are you doing Lindsay?" "Ok Mike, thanks. Well, let's not waste any time." Lindsay said. Bobby walked to the desk and opened his briefcase. He took the envelope and handed it to Mike. Mike picked up the envelope with gloved hands and removed the picture and note. "It's handwritten." he said, shocked. "Yeah, I noticed that too." "Who touched the picture besides you Bobby?" "Just Lindsay." "Good. Well, I'll have it dusted for fingerprints and I'll get a handwriting analysis done. Anything else I can think of, I'll do." "Great Mike. Thank you." said Bobby. "Anytime. Listen, I hate to do this, but I really have to go. I'll be in touch." he started toward the door. "Thanks Mike. See you soon." Lindsay said. Bobby shut the door behind him and then turned to Lindsay. "Now, I forget, what were we doing before Mike showed up?" he said with a smile. Lindsay laughed and gestured for him to follow her. He obeyed. She led him into the bedroom and slowly began to take her clothes off. First her blouse, then her pants. She walked toward him and helped remove his clothes. She pulled him toward the bed and laid down. Bobby laid on top of her and kissed her. Lindsay woke to the sound of the telephone ringing. She reached across Bobby, who was sound asleep, and lifted the phone to her ear. "Hello?" she said in a sleepy voice. "Hey, it's me. I got us an appointment for tomorrow, can you believe it?" "That's great Helen. What time?" "11:00. I had you scheduled for a massage, manicure, pedicure and facial. Is that ok?" "Mmm, sounds wonderful." Lindsay responded. "Ok, well, are you going to the office tomorrow?" "Yeah, meet us there at 10:30 and we'll drive together." "Great. I can't wait!" "Me neither. I'll tell Bobby." "Good, I'll see you tomorrow. Bye." "Bye." Lindsay hung up the phone and glanced at the clock. It was 7:00. She couldn't believe they had slept so long. She tickled Bobby, trying to wake him. He mumbled, then rolled over. Then, she kissed the back of his neck and blew in his ear. He sat up immediately. "You know I hate that." he said groggily. "Yeah, that's why I did it" she laughed. "Helen got us an appointment for 11:00 tomorrow morning." "Ok. What time is it?" he asked. "Seven." "Seriously?" "Yep." "Mmm, i'm hungry?" "Me too. Should we order something?" Lindsay asked. "Yeah, what do you have a taste for?" "Chinese." she said. "Me too." "Great, I'll call." END OF PART THREE part four to follow... should be done by friday tracy hello again. i've been home sick from work and school, so i'm posting this faster than i normally would. enjoy! DISCLAIMER: THESE CHARACTERS BELONG TO DAVID E KELLEY AND 20TH CENTURY FOX. The next morning, Lindsay and Bobby arrived at the office at 9:00. Everyone else was already there. "How are you feeling Lindsay?" Ellenor asked. "Better, thanks." Lindsay smiled. "What's going on around here?" "Not much." "How's your case?" "A royal pain in the ass." groaned Ellenor. "Sounds exciting." Lindsay laughed. "Oh yeah. So, did you get any rest when you went home yesterday?" "Actually, yes. We slept for a little while, then Helen showed up. Right after she left, Mike came over and took the photo. After he left, we went back to bed." Lindsay told Ellenor. "Good. You needed the rest." "Yeah, well Helen convinced me to go to the spa today." Lindsay added. "What does Bobby think of that?" Ellenor inquired. "Well, he wasn't crazy about the idea, but he's coming with. He's going to be my bodyguard for the day." Lindsay said with a smile. "Just be careful." Ellenor said, concerned. "Don't worry, I will." Helen walked into the office and went straight to Lindsay's desk. "Hi. Are you ready?" she asked. "Yeah, let me go get Bobby." Lindsay stood up and walked to Bobby's office. "You ready?" she asked, peeking her head in the doorway. "Yeah, give me one minute." Lindsay walked back to her desk and took her purse out of the drawer. Bobby joined them and they started toward the door. "Lucy, " Bobby said, "We will be gone the rest of the day. I'll call in a little while to check in, ok?" "Sure," Lucy responded. "Have fun." Bobby looked around in amazement. "So this is what it looks like in here? Interesting." "May I help you?" asked a red headed woman sitting behind the counter. "Hi. Helen Gamble and Lindsay Dole. We have an 11:00 appointment." Helen told the woman. "All right. First, you will have your massages. If you will follow me." The three of them walked behind the woman and down a hallway with at least ten doors. The woman showed Helen into the third room on the left and led Lindsay to the fourth door on the right. Bobby walked in behind Lindsay and the woman gave him a strange look. "I'm her bodyguard." he stated. "I have strict orders not to leave her alone for even one minute." "Ok." The woman looked truly puzzled. She turned to Lindsay. "Remove all of your clothing and put this towel around you. Then you can lie down on the table." "Thank you." Lindsay said and gave the woman a smile. The red head left the room and Bobby and Lindsay bust out laughing. Bobby took a seat and watched as Lindsay undressed and wrapped herself in the towel. "God" he thought "she is so beautiful." "You're beautiful." he said to her. She blushed. "Thank you." There was a knock at the door and a tall man walked in. "Hi Lindsay, I'm George. I'll be giving you your massage." "Hi George, nice to meet you. This is Bobby." "I'm sorry, we don't allow another person to sit in here during a session." he said. "I am her bodyguard and I am not leaving." Bobby said sternly. "All right." George wasn't going to argue. George began to massage Lindsay's shoulders and back. She was clearly enjoying it. About ten minutes after he started, someone knocked on the door. "George" said the red head, "there is a phone call for you." "All right." he replied. "Lindsay, I'll be right back." "Sure." she mumbled. George left the room and Lindsay looked over at Bobby. She smiled. "Thank you. I'm so glad we're doing this." "Me too." Bobby answered. About a minute later, the door opened. Bobby looked up, but it wasn't George that he saw. There was a man dressed in black with a ski mask covering his face. Bobby got up and stood defensively in front of Lindsay. The man walked toward Bobby and grabbed him by the throat and threw him up against the wall. Bobby fell to the floor. He struggled to get up, but the man took the chair he had been sitting on and hit him over the back of the head with it. Lindsay screamed. The man grabbed Lindsay and banged her head on the table, knocking her unconscious. He threw her over his shoulder and carried her out of the room. Bobby was out cold, lying on the floor. George walked in and yelled to the red head. "Call the police!" he shouted. "Helen came running out of her room and walked in to see Bobby unconscious on the floor and Lindsay nowhere in sight. She knelt next to Bobby and slapped his face lightly intil he came to. "Lindsay!" he cried as he looked around, but all he saw was Helen crying. "Where is she? Helen, where is she?" he screamed. Helen couldn't say anything, she just continued to cry. "Oh my God! Lindsay! Oh my God!" he yelled in anguish and began to cry. "This is all your fault Helen! She's gone and it's your fault! You did this. You did this!" Bobby glared at Helen with anger and fear in his eyes. He put his hands over his face and cried hysterically. Helen, in shock from Bobby's accusations, sat and stared at Lindsay's clothes hanging on the hook next to the door. She wept softly, her sobs drowned out by the desperate cries of Bobby. END OF PART FOUR Part five will be posted by Friday! DISCLAIMER: THESE CHARACTERS BELONG TO DAVID E KELLEY AND 20TH CENTURY FOX. Bobby woke up several hours later in the hospital. Jimmy and Eugene were sitting next to his bed. Bobby looked puzzled as to why he was there. Then, in an instant, everything came back to him. His expression changed from confusion to fear. "Have they found her?" he asked. Eugene looked at Jimmy, then said "No." "I shouldn't have let her talk me into going. It was a mistake. I knew it was a risk, nnut I couldn't say no to her..." his voice trailed off as his eyes filled with tears. "Bobby, this is not your fault" Jimmy said sternly. "No, it's Helen's fault." Bobby said angrily. "She talked Lindsay into it. This whole spa thing was her idea. It's her fault." Helen walked in as Bobby was laying the blame on her. "Get the hell out of here Helen!" he screamed. "I don't want to see you or talk to you! GET OUT!" "Bobby..." she said softly. "If anything happens to Lindsay, I will never forgive you!" "I know. I'm sorry Bobby." she said. "A lot of good that does. She's gone." he shouted. "We will find her." "You better pray that we do," he yelled, "because if we don't, I will make your life miserable." "I only came to tell you what Mike has found so far." "What?" he snapped. "A witness got a partial plate number and a description of the car." Helen told them. "They are cross checking the information and should have something very soon." "Anything else?" Jimmy asked. "Yes. A footprint was found just outside the back door of the spa. They also found a small hair. They are going to analyze it." "It could be Lindsay's." Bobby said. "I know." Helen responded. "I'm going over to the police station now to talk to Mike. I'll call if I hear anything." "Thanks Helen." Jimmy said. She smiled and left the room. Jimmy turned to Bobby. "Don't you think you were a little hard on her? You know, she's upset too. Lindsay is her best friend." "Yes I was hard on her and she deserved it. Lindsay may be her best friend, but I am going to be her husband." "I understand that Bobby, but..." "No, you don't Jimmy." Bbby interrupted. "Helen convinced Lindsay to go to the spa. She begged her until she gave in and asked me to do the same. I knew it was a bad idea. I knew it. But I gave in. I shouldn't have. I should have insisted that she not go. I didn't." Bobby looked away from them. "Truth is," he continued, "I am as much to blame as Helen, if not more so. I had a gut feeling that we shouldn't go. But I gave in, I relented and now look what happened." "That's enough Bobby." Eugene said. "Look, kicking yourself isn't going to help us find Lindsay." "You're right." Bobby agreed. "I need to talk to Mike." "Yes you do." Jimmy concurred. "I'll go call him." Jimmy left the room and met Rebecca and Ellenor in the corridor. They both looked as if they had been crying. "How is he?" Rebecca asked. Physically, he's all right, but emotionally..." Jimmy paused. "What? Emotionally what?" Rebecca asked. "He thinks that this is his fault. He is blaming himself for giving in to Lindsay." "This isn't his fault." said Ellenor. "He did his best to protect her." "Well, he wouldn't agree with that." Jimmy stated. "What about Helen?" Rebecca wondered. "How is she?" "That's a whole other story." Jimmy groaned. "What do you mean?" inquired Ellenor. "Bobby was yelling at her, saying none of this would of happened if it weren't for her. He is so angry with her." said Jimmy. Ellenor and Rebecca looked at each other. Ellenor thought to herself, "Bobby's right. This is Helen's fault." "Is he alone?" she asked. "No, Eugene is in there with him." Jimmy responded. "Ellenor, let's go see him." Rebecca said. "We'll see you later Jimmy." "OK." He continued down the hallway toward the payphones. Helen walked through the squad room looking for Mike. She found him at his desk talking on the phone. He held up his index finger when he saw her to let her know he'd be right with her. "ok Jimmy" he said. "Tell him I'll be there in about an hour. See you later." Mike hung up the phone and looked at Helen. "How are you?" he asked. She gave him a weak smile and whispered "Ok." "Jimmy told me Bobby blames you for what happened. He's just upset Helen. He doesn't mean it." "Oh yes he does. He's right. This would never have happened if I hadn't pushed her. It's my fault." "Stop. You know as well as I do that if this guy hadn't done it today at the spa, it would only be a matter of time and different location until he did it. Look, our main objective is to find Lindsay as soon as we can, right?" "yeah." Helen answered. "Have you found anything?" "I'm waiting for the cross reference on the car. It should be done soon." Mike told her. "What about the hair and the footprint?" "That will take a day or two." he said. "Listen, I have to go to the hospital and talk to Bobby. What are you going to do?" "I'm going home." Helen stated. "Has anyone called Lindsay's parents?" "No." he answered. "Ok. I will." Helen smiled and started to walk away. Mike stood up and took hold of her arm as she walked by. He looked into her blue eyes and said, "Helen, we are going to find her. I promise." She began to sob softly and Mike put his arms around her, holding her close and paying no attention to the stares of his fellow detectives. END OF PART FIVE part six to follow... stay tuned... ok everyone, here is part six. enjoy! DISCLAIMER: THESE CHARACTERS ARE NOT MINE. THEY BELONG TO DAVID E KELLEY AND 20TH CENTURY FOX. Lindsay came to in a cold, damp, dark room. Her wrists and ankles were tied up with rope. She looked around, desperate to know where she was. There were no windows, only one door and no furniture of any kind except the mattress on the floor and a wooden chair. She began to cry, but stopped abruptly when she heard a noise outside the door. She tried to remain calm as the door opened. The man in black stepped inside the room carrying a glass of water and a plate full of food. He set them on the chair and turned around. He opened the door and as fast as he had entered the room, he was gone again. Lindsay sighed and began to cry again. She laid down on the mattress, not touching the food that was on the chair. As she drifted off to sleep, she mumbled "Bobby" over and over. Bobby walked ino the apartment and sat down on the couch. The doctor had released him three hours after he had woken up. Rebecca, Eugene, Ellenor and Jimmy all offered to come over and sit with him, but he insisted on going home alone. Now he wished he hadn't. Bobby stood ans walked into the bedroom. Next to the bed, lying on the floor, was Lindsay's nightgown. He picked it up and laid it on the bed. He turned toward the door and stopped. He looked over at the nightgown and went back to pick it up. He held it gently to his face. Bobby could smell Lindsay's perfume. He returned to the living room and laid down on the couch. He held the nightgown close to his fave and closed his eyes, breathing in its sweet scent. Lindsay sat up and screamed when she saw her kidnapper sitting on the chair. He didn't move or speak, he just stared at her. She summoned her courage and spoke to him. "Who are you?" she began. "What do you want?" He gave her no answer. She continued. "Why did you kidnap me? Are you the person who stabbed me?" Again, he said nothing. "Why are you doing this? What do you want from me?" Still, no reply. He did, however, push the meal he had brought earlier closer to her. She looked at him defiantly and kicked the food with her tied feet. "Go to hell you son of a bitch!" she screamed. The man calmly rose from his chair and moved toward Lindsay. He knelt down beside her and grabbed her by her hair. He pulled her close to his face. When she was about an inch from his face, he punched the side of her head with his fist. Lindsay fell to the mattress as her abductor stood and left the room. Bobby jumped off the couch when he heard the doorbell ring. He opened the door and saw Rebecca standing there. He gestured for her to come in. "I know you said you wanted to be alone" she began, "but I wanted to make sure you were ok." "Thanks Bec." Bobby smiled. "I was just resting on the couch." Rebecca looked at the couch and saw Lindsay's nightgown. Bobby noticed that Rebecca's expression had changed so he quickly took the nightgown from the couch and brought it into the bedroom. He walked back and smiled awkwardly. "Bobby," Rebecca said, "it's ok. You don't have to be embarassed. I know you are sad. I know you miss her. But Bobby, you have to believe taht we will find her alive." "Do you really think we will Bec?" he asked. "Honestly?" Rebecca hesitated. Bobby took her silence to mean she thought Lindsay was already dead. He buried his head in his hands and started to fall to the floor. Rebecca helped him to the couch and sat with him, hugging him. He looked at her with tears streaming down his face. "Everything was wonderful." he started. "We were so happy. Why did this have to happen?" "I don't know Bobby." Rebecca answered. "I have never felt so whole and happy and at peace with anyone but Lindsay." he cried. "She means everything to me." "I know." "No one has ever known me the way she does." "I know. Bobby, you have to be thankful for the time you did have with her and pray that she is ok." "I am Rebecca, believe me I am." he said. The two sat silently for a little while. Bobby began to tremble when the phone rang. He stood up from the couch and walked to the desk. He lifted the receiver and said "Hello?" He listened foe a few seconds and then said, "Ok. I'll be there in a few minutes. Thanks for calling Mike." Rebecca looked at him and said "What is it?" "That was Mike" he said, his voice cracking. "They think they found Lindsay." "What do you mean 'they think'?" she asked. "Mike wants me to come to the morgue and make an identification" he cried. "They think they found her body." END OF PART 6 part 7 to follow. i should have it posted by tuesday or wednesday! ok, here is part seven! part eight is also finished, and i will send it to you tomorrow! DISCLAIMER: THESE CHARACTERS ARE NOT MINE, ALTHOUGH I OFTEN WISH THEY WERE. THEY BELONG TO DAVID E KELLEY AND 20 TH CENTURY FOX. Bobby stood outside the morgue, unwilling to go in. Rebecca had called the others and they met them there. Helen and Mike were there as well. Bobby couldn't or wouldn't move. Eugene gently touched his shoulder. "Bobby, do you want me to do it?" he asked. Bobby thought for a minute and then turned to his friend. "No, Eugene, I need to do it." he said. "Thank you, though." Bobby pushed the door open and walked up to the coroner. He was a tall man with thick glasses. "I'm Bobby Donnell." "Mr. Donnell, thank you for coming so quickly." the coroner said. "I'm Dr. Weitz. If you want, we can make the ID through dental records, that is if you don't want to see her." "No," Bobby said, "I need to see her." "Ok." Dr. Weitz led Bobby to a table where the body was covered with a sheet. He looked at Bobby and nodded as if to say "ready?". Bobby nodded and the doctor lifted the sheet away fron the face of the body. Bobby gasped when he saw her because she was so severely beaten and bruised. However, he did not need to look any closer. This woman was not Lindsay. There was no doubt in his mind. Dr. Weitz couldn't read Bobby's expression. "Mr. Donnell," he asked, "is this your fiancee? Is this Lindsay Dole?" "No," Bobby replied. "No, it's not Lindsay." "I'm very sorry you had to come down here," the coroner said. "But I'm glad it wasn't her." "Thank you." Bobby smiled and turned toward the door. He stepped into the hallway and saw everyone staring at him. He walked closer to them and stopped. "It isn't Lindsay." he said. A loud sigh was made by the group and Helen began to cry. Mike put his arm around her and held her. Bobby started toward the exit. "Bobby, where are you going?" called Ellenor. "Home." he answered, not stopping. He got into his car and his whole body shook with relief and fear and sadness. He drove home slowly, knowing that Lindsay wouldn't be there waiting for him. Lindsay woke several hours later and realized it must be morning. As she struggled to sit up, her head throbbed with pain. The man entered the room and walked to her. She cowered on the mattress, but he didn't hit her. He untied her ankles and helped her to her feet. He led her out of the room and down a hallway. She was silent our of fear. They came to a door and he opened it for her. He had brought her to the bathroom. Before he allowed her to go inside, he untied her wrists. She rubbed them, wincing fron the pain of the rope burns. She stepped into the bathroom and waited until he closed the door. She went to the bathroom and looked around hoping to find a window to escape through or something to use as a weapon. There was nothing. She stood up from the toilet and went to the sink. She looked in the mirror and was horrified. The side of her face was purple and swollen where he had hit her last night. She washed her face and hands and then the door opened. "Please, just one more minute." she said. He grabbed her arms and pulled her into the hallway. Again, he bound her wrists and led her back to the room. This time, however, he left her ankles free. She sat on the mattress and remained silent. Her kidnapper walked out of the room and locked the door behind him. Lindsay's mind was racing. How was she going to be found? Dod the police have any clues as to where she might be? Hell, she didn't even know. How was Bobby? What about her parents? Helen? What did they think happened? Her head was spinning. "Bobby won't stop looking for me." she said to herself. "I know that. He won't quit until he find me." THREE WEEKS LATER Bobby jumped out of the shower and threw his robe on. There was someone ringing the doorbell. He ran to the door and opened it. "Mr. Dole. Mrs. Dole." he said. Mrs. Dole looked loke she had been crying. Bobby had not spoken to them since yesterday morning. It had been three weeks since Lindsay had been abducted and they were no closer to finding her. The fear of the unknown was weighing heavily on Bobby as well as Lindsay's parents. "They look exhausted" Bobby thought to himself. Mrs. Dole put her arms out and hugged Bobby. He hugged her back and buried his face in her shoulder. Mr. Dole shook his hand firmly when his wife had released Bobby from her embrace. "Please, come in." he said to them and led them into the kitchen. He was embarrassed because the apartment was such a mess. The kitchen was the cleanest room because he hadn't been in there at all since Lindsay was taken. He couldn't honestly remember the last time he had eaten anything, at least not at home. Once inside the kitchen, he offered them something to drink. "Coffee?" he asked as he poured water into the coffee maker. "That sounds good." Mrs. Dole said. The three of them sat at the table together. Bobby filled them in on the latest, which wasn't much. They still had no solid lead as to where she might be and who might have taken her. Bobby told them how sorry he was. "Sorry?" said Mrs. Dole. "What do you have to be sorry for, Bobby?" "I didn't protect her well enough." he responded. "I knew that we shouldn't have gone to the spa, but I gave in. I let her talk me into it." "Bobby," said Mrs. Dole, "Lindsay would have gone with or without you. You know her well enough to know how very stubborn she can be. As much as she loves you, she would have done what she wanted." "That's right." agreed Mr. Dole. "No" Bobby stated. "I think she would have given in if I pushed her a little more." "Please don't blame yourself." she said. "We know that you love our daughter and would do anything to keep her safe." Tears formed in Bobby's eyes and Mrs. Dole took his hand. "Lindsay loves you more than anything in the world," she began. "She would hate for you to be sitting here thinking of all the thing you could have done. None of that matters now. All she wants is to be found and we will find her. When we do, I am going to sit down with the two of you and not let you leave until you have picked a wedding date. I mean, really Bobby, we aren't getting any younger." Bobby couldn't help but laugh at that. "Thank you." he said. "No Bobby, thank you for loving our little girl." Mr. Dole said. The three sat there a little while longer without speaking. As they were getting ready to leave, the phone rang. Bobby asked them to wait while he answered the call. "Hello?" he said into the receiver. "Yeah, what's up? ... Really?... Where?... Did you find anything?... Is she there?... Uh-huh... yeah... ok... When?... I'll be there. Thanks Mike." Bobby hung up the phone. "What is it?" Mr. Dole asked. "They found the car, but nothing else except the towel Lindsay had on at the spa." he told them. "Where?" Mrs. Dole asked. "About five minutes from here. I'm going over there. If you want to stay here while I'm gone, please do." he said. "No, we're going to head home." Mr. Dole said. "Call us as soon as you hear anything." "I will." Lindsay was joined by her captor. He handed her a sandwich and a bottle of water. As unwilling as she was to take it, she wa starving. She took a bite of the sandwich as he stood there watching her. She devoured the sandwich because she had eaten very little in the past three weeks. She glanced at him and for the first time recognized something familiar about him. His eyes. She knew she had seen them befor. Was it the night she was stabbed or some other time? She couldn't be sure, but she was determined to find out. "Do I know you?" she asked. "Have we met before?" He nodded. "Did you stab me?" He shook his head. "Were you a client of mine?" she inquired. He again shook his head. "How do I know you?" At that point, he reached into the breast pocket of his shirt and pulle dout a photo. he handed it to her and then walked out of the room. Lindsay looked at the picture and gasped with shock. It was Daniel Martin, her former boyfriend. She had dumped him to be with Bobby. She couldn't believe it! Why would he do this? She stood and ran to the door. She banged on it and yelled "Danny! Danny! Danny!" He didn't answer. She crumbled to the floor and rocked back and forth. "Bobby, please find me!" she cried. Bobby walked into the office and everyone looked up, surprised to see him. It had been nearly three weeks since he had gone to the office. He smiled and went straight into his office and closed the door. As he sat in his chair, Lucy knocked on the door. "Come in." he called. She entered the room nervously and handed Bobby a large manila envelope. He took it and opened it immediately. Inside there was a photo of Lindsay. She was lying on a mattress with her wrists and ankles tied. "Lucy, call Mike now!" he yelled. Eugene ran into Bobby's office and said, "What is it?" Bobby handed the photo to him and a look of shock fell over his face. "It's Lindsay" he said, surprised. "Yeah, but where the hell is she and how long ago was this taken?" Lucy reentered the room and told Bobby that Mike was on his way. Bobby took the photo back from Eugene and asked to be left alone. Eugene and Lucy left the room and closed the door behind them. Bobby held the picture and stared at it. This was the first he had seen of her in three weeks. But, was she dead or alive? He noticed how swollen and bruised her face was. What had that bastard done to her? he wondered. The fear of not knowing and the anger at being taunted like this was more than he could bear. Bobby picked up the lamp from his desk and hurled it at the wall. He fell into his chair and buried his head in his hands and sobbed softly. END OF PART SEVEN... PART 8, THE FINAL INSTALLMENT, WILL BE POSTED TOMORROW. PLEASE EMAIL ME WITH YOUR THOUGHTS AND OPINIONS : Teetee1711@aol.com here it is the final installment of try again. Hope everyone enjoys it! DISCLAIMER: THESE CHARACTERS BELONG TO DAVID E KELLEY AND 20TH CENTURY FOX. Lindsat sat thinking of ways to get through to Danny. What could she say? What could she do to get him to let her go? She wanted more than anything to be home with Bobby, to lay on the couch and watch a movie or go out for dinner. Anything, as long as she was with Bobby. When she closed her eyes, all she saw was him. She looked up as Danny walked into the room. He sat next to her on the mattress and took off the mask he had been wearing. She looked him in the eyes and he looked back at her. She tried to find the Danny she once knew, but he was gone. All she saw now was anger and hatred. She shuddered while looking at him. "Danny, I know you were hurt, I know I hurt you and I'm sorry." she began. "But is this something you really want to do? I mean, you are going to get into a lot of trouble. Do you want to go to jail?" "Lindsay, you left me for Bobby Donnell, the scum of the earth." he said angrily. "Don't say that. You don't know anything about Bobby." she shot back. "I know that he is a slimy lawyer and his filth has rubbed off on you." he said. "He is the one who made you betray me." "I never betrayed you." she said. "You were screwing him while you were with me!" he yelled. "NO!" Lindsay screamed. "I never slept with Bobby while I was dating you. NEVER!" "I don't believe you." "Believe what you want, but that's the truth." "Sure." he mumbled. "You know what Danny?" she hollered. "Go to hell! I do not have to justify myself to you or anyone else. I broke up with you because I was falling in love with Bobby, not because I was sleeping with him. I cared about you so much, but not in the same way I felt about Bobby." "Well, isn't that sweet? Thank you so much." "You are acting like a two year old!" she shouted. "Grow up! Everyone gets dumped at least once in their lives. Deal with it!" He looked at her and she knew that she had gone too far. He slapped her across the face and slammed her down on the mattress. Lindsay screamed and tried to push him off of her. He started to pull at the oversized clothes he had given her to wear the day before. He leaned in close to her so they were nose to nose. Lindsay lifted her head and bit his cheek as hard as she could. Danny screamed and rolled off of her. Lindsay got to her feet as quickly as she could and stood over him. He was holding his face, blood seeping out from in between his fingers. She awkwardly lifted the chair over her head and hit him with it. He was still moving, so she hit him again. This time, he was out cold. Lindsay dropped the chair and ran to the door. She fumbled with the handle but managed to open it. She stepped outside and closed the door behind her. The key was in the lock so she turned it ans pulled it out. She frantically ran down the hallway, looking for a door that led outside. She found it next to the bathroom. It was locked! She tried the key fron the other door and it worked. She turned the handle and ran outside. She looked around once she was street level and saw a payphone just half a block away. She looked around again and realized where she was. She was two blocks from the office. She started to run toward the office, her wrists still tied together. "I hope Bobby is there." she said to herself. Mike and Bobby were standing in Bobby's office looking at the photo. They were trying to find some clue in the picture, with no luck. Lucy was seated at her desk, as were Ellenor, Jimmy and Rebecca. The front door flew open and Lucy screamed "LINDSAY!" Bobby walked out of his office and gasped loudly when he saw Lindsay standing there looking at him. He ran to her and picked her up, holding her close to him. She buried her head into his neck and bean to sob. Everyone watched with smiles on their faces and tears in their eyes. "Are you all right? Baby, are you ok? Lindsay?" Bobby asked, still clinging to her. "I'm ok. I'm ok." she mumbled through her tears. She held onto Bobby and he walked into his office, carrying her. "Lucy?" Bobby called. "Call 911. We need to take her to the hospital. And get me a pair of scissors." "Of course." Lucy answered. "Lindsay" he said to her, "I'm going to get this rope off of your wrists. Hang on." Lucy handed him the scissors and within seconds Lindsay's hands were unbound and she wrapped her arms around Bobby's neck. Bobby sat down on the couch with Lindsay on his lap. He cradled her gently and decided not to ask her anything yet. He just wanted to hold her close and never let go. Mike walked up to them and asked Lindsay if she was ready to talk yet. She didn't answer so Bobby looked down at her face and saw that she had fallen asleep. He kissed her head and held her until the ambulance arrived. As the paramedics strapped Lindsay to the stretcher, Bobby called her parents. He followed the paramedics out of the building and climbed into the back of the ambulance. Eveyone had followed them out and Lucy had locked the office. When the ambulance pulled in at the hospital, they were met by Lindsay's parents and Helen. Lindsay was still asleep, so they all sat in the waiting room together. "Did she tell you what happened?" Helen asked Bobby. "No. She just cried and fell asleep in my lap." he answered. "She just walked into the office?" Mrs. Dole asked. "Yeah. I was in my office with Mike and I heard Lucy scream 'Lindsay' so I walked out of my office and there she was." "Amazing." said Mr. Dole. The doctor who had treated Lindsay in the emergency room the night she was stabbed walked toward Bobby. "Mr. Donnell," she said, "Lindsay's awake and asking for you." Bobby jumped up from the chair and ran to the examining room. Lindsay was lying semi-upright on the examining table. As soon as bobby entered the room, she smiled. He walked to her and took her hand. He kissed her softly on the lips and then on her cheeks and her forehead. She gazed into his eyes and laughed. "What?" he asked. "The whole time I was gone," she said, "all I could see when I closed my eyes was your face and your eyes. Now I'm really seeing them." "Honey, who was it? Who took you?" Lindsay took a deep breath and closed her eyes. "Danny Martin." she said. "WHAT?" Bobby yelled. "He wanted to get back at you and me for breaking his heart I guess." "Why? Because you broke up with him to go out with me?" "Apparently." "Where is the son of a bitch?" he asked. "How did you get away from him?" "I was talking tohim and I got mad and yelled at him. He slapped me and them got on top of me. I bit his cheek and hit him with a chair twice. I ran out and locked him in the room he had left me in. I got outside and noticed I was two blocks away from the office, so I ran there instead of calling the police." Lindsay told him. "What did he do to you?" Bobby asked, afraid of what the answer might be. "He didn't rape me, if that's what you think. Although, I think he was going to before I bit him. He just punched me in the head and slapped me a few times." Bobby looked pissed off. "I'm ok Bobby. Really." Mike walked in and Lindsay told him in detail everything she had just told Bobby. He left to arrest Danny. As he walked out, Helen, Lindsay's parents and everyonr from the office walked in. They all kissed and hugged her and told her how happy they were that she was all tight. After about twenty minutes, the doctor came in and said that Lindsay was being released. Everyone decided to leave Lindsay and Bobby alone as they got ready to go home. Bobby and Lindsay arrived at their apartment at 10:00 pm. Lindsay sat on the couch as Bobby ran a bath for her. She met him in the bathroom and easily slid into the bathtub. The warm water felt wonderful on her sore, tired body. Lindsay looked at Bobby and said "Come in here." "Are you sure?" he asked. She smiled and nodded. Bobby removed his clothes and sat in the tub behind her. They laid there together, relaxing and enjoying the peace and quiet they had not known in nearly a month. Bobby wrapped his arms around Lindsay and whispered into her ear "I love you." Lindsay smiled and said "I love you too Bobby."
