Hey guys, this is my first ever FanFic. I hope I posted it on here right! Title: "My Everything" Part 1 Author: Stephanie, PracticeLuver@aol.com Author's note: This is my very first attempt at a FanFic. Feedback is appreciated, I'd LOVE it, good or bad. Please don't be too harsh if you hate it, but constructive criticism is fine. Summary: This story begins after Bobby and Lindsay were "recreational", and after Bobby and Helen dated and broke up. Lindsay and Bobby have been officially dating for about two weeks. I'm not going to give away anything, except that it is mainly (nearly totally) about Bobby and Lindsay, so if you don't like them, you won't like this FanFic. Disclaimer: This is a Fanfic based on the ABC drama "The Practice." All characters belong to ABC and DEK. I make no profit in writing it, so please don't sue me. Also, I have no money. Part 1 "Lindsaaaaayyy..." "Bobbyyyyyy..." Lindsay mocked him. She smiled, picturing the whiney look on his face, the look he always gave her when he wanted something. The look that he knew she couldn't refuse. "Bobby, I haven't seen Helen in the two weeks you and I have been dating," Lindsay said into her cell phone as she drove towards her best friend's apartment. "We need to have a girl's night out. I'm sure you can survive one night without me." "I know I can..." he said. The truth was, he wasn't sure he could. He loved her, even if he hadn't told her yet. Sure, they had only been dating two weeks, but they had quite a history before that. Bobby's love for Lindsay was the one thing in the world he was certain of. He was overwhelmed by his feelings; he had never felt this way about anyone. He also wasn't sure if she felt the same way he did. Lindsay smiled. "Well, I'll call you later tonight, okay?" "Okay. Have fun with Helen," he replied, pouting somewhat. "I will. Bye." I love you, she wanted to say. But she didn't dare say it, though she definitely felt it. They had only been dating two weeks, and she didn't want to scare him away. Bobby always kept his feelings so guarded, and she knew he didn't feel like she felt. ~*~*~*~ When Lindsay arrived at Helen's apartment, she parked her car and walked up to the door. "LINDS!" Helen shouted, giving her best friend a bone-crunching hug. "I've missed you." "I've missed you too, Helen," Lindsay laughed. "I'm surprised I was able to drag you away from Bobby for a night so we could go out..." Helen commented wistfully. "I'm so sorry Helen. I know I've been neglecting you; it's just that Bobby and I are so new and exciting-" "And you love him," Helen said knowingly. "What?! No I don't!" Lindsay exclaimed defensively. "Oh, Lindsay, I can read you like a book. You are so utterly in love with him, and he practically worships the ground you walk on." Lindsay looked up, shocked. "What? You're crazy." "Oh come off it Lindsay. Bobby never shows emotion, but every time he looks at you...." Helen let her voice trail off. "It's so obvious." "Helen," Lindsay began quietly. "I do love him- I won't deny it- but I know he doesn't feel that strongly for me. So let's just go out and have fun together!" She tried to sound bright, but Helen could tell her love for Bobby was eating at her. "Okay Linds. Let's go." ~*~*~*~ Helen felt great as she and Lindsay walked down the street, talking and laughing. She ad missed her best friend. Man, she's really got it bad for Bobby, Helen thought, looking at the bright smile on Lindsay's face. She hadn't seen her this happy in a long time. "So how are things in your love life going these days, Helen?" Lindsay asked as they window shopped. "Love life? What's that?" Helen replied sarcastically, and the two friends giggled. "OOOHHHH!!" Lindsay squealed, as something in a window caught her eye. "What? What is it?" Helen asked, looking around them for an answer. "That sweater!" Lindsay exclaimed, pointing to a baby blue V-neck sweater. "It's perfect for Bobby!" Helen laughed at her friend. "Okay Linds. Why don't you go in and buy the sweater for your boy toy, and I'll get us a table across the street at Red Lobster. You can meet me in the restaurant after you're done." "That sounds great Helen! See you in a few!" Lindsay gave Helen a hug and started walking towards the shop as Helen made her way across the street. Lindsay was in the process of opening the door when she heard a terrified shriek. "LINDSAY!" She whipped her head around to see the heel of Helen's shoe stuck in the sewer in the middle of the road. Helen couldn't move; and there was a giant eighteen-wheeler headed straight for her. "HELEN!" Lindsay screamed and, without thinking, she ran to Helen and shoved her across the street to safety. Helen stumbled but stood, unharmed, just in time to see the massive truck ram right into Lindsay. "Nooooo!" Helen shouted as she watched her best friend fall to the ground. She rushed over to Lindsay, sobbing, at the sight. Lindsay was battered, bruised, bloody, and unconscious. "SOMEBODY CALL AN AMBULANCE! CALL AN AMBULANCE NOW!" She screamed hysterically at the top of her lungs. ~*~*~*~ End Part 1 So what did you guys think? I have a lot more written than this, I just wanted to see what you thought before I post more. Please send me feedback, this is my first FanFic so I know I need some suggestions! Thanks. ~Steph (PracticeLuver@aol.com) Title: “My Everything Part 2 Author: Stephanie, PracticeLuver@aol.com Summary, Disclaimer: See Part 1 Author's Note: I was going to wait a few days to post this, but since I already had it written and the feedback was so nice I decided to go ahead and post it! Thanks everyone for the great feedback, it was so sweet. Part 2 After the ambulance came and they finally reached the hospital, Helen made a few calls. The first one was to Bobby. "Hello?" Bobby answered, hoping against hope that it was Lindsay calling. He longed to hear the sound of her voice, see her smile….just thinking of her made him indescribably happy. "Bobby," Helen said, a sob catching in her throat. "What? What is it?" He asked, suddenly alarmed at the tone of Helen's voice. "There's been an accident .Lindsay'. she's been hurt Bobby." "What? Where?" "We're at Saint Anne's, it-" "I'll be right there" He cut her off. Helen then called Rebecca, Eugene, Jimmy, Lucy, Ellenor, and Lindsay's parents to inform them of the accident. When she got off the phone, Helen collapsed in a chair in the waiting room and wept quietly, wondering what the fate of her friend would be. ~*~*~*~ As soon as Bobby reached the hospital, he sprinted to the emergency room. As he approached the waiting room, he tried to calm himself. I'm sure it was just a minor accident, he thought. She probably just broke her arm or something. But as soon as he saw Helen, he knew this was not just a broken bone. Her eyes were red and bloodshot, her face drenched with tears. At once Bobby started to cry. "What happened?" Helen came over to embrace Bobby and started crying harder. "What happened to Lindsay, Helen? Tell me," Bobby said after they pulled apart. "She saved me" Helen began shakily. "What?" Bobby whispered. "I was stuck" in the road- she-…An eighteen wheeler was about to hit me, and she just ran out in front of it, no regard for her own safety, and pushed me out of the way and" Helen choked on a sob. "It hit her." Bobby and Helen both completely broke down, crying for the person that they cared so much for. They sat there, drowning in their sorrows, when finally Bobby spoke. "Is she dead?" The words caught in his throat; he dreaded the answer that might follow. "NO! No, not that I know of. Right now she's in surgery," Helen managed to get the words out. "It's just like her" Bobby whispered. "What?" Helen gave him a bewildered look. "Putting herself before others". it's just what I would have expected her to do" Bobby smiled briefly, thinking about how much he loved this remarkable woman. His grin slowly faded, however, as he thought of the fact that he might lose her before even telling her". He shook himself, not wanting to think about it. "I know," Helen said, "She was- is!" she corrected herself. "IS the greatest person I know. She's everything to me" "Ms. Gamble?" The voice of the doctor cut Helen off. Both Helen and Bobby stood up. "Yes?" Helen answered expectantly. "I am Doctor Henderson. I have some news on Ms. Dole' The doctor looked very distraught, making Bobby and Helen extremely nervous. "What?" Bobby croaked. "Is she okay?" "Well," Doctor Henderson began, "she has suffered several broken bones, uncountable cuts, scrapes, and bruises, a punctured kidney, internal bleeding, a severe concussion, and" She trailed off. "And?" Helen prompted her, bawling at how much pain Lindsay must be in. "She is in a coma" The words hit like a ton of bricks. Bobby looked as if his world had crashed down. "Will she be all right?" "It's possible that she will make a full recovery, but I won't lie to you, it is extremely unlikely" "Can we please see her?" Helen begged desperately. "I'm sorry, we are only allowed to let family into ICU" the doctor told them gently. "Listen," Bobby said firmly. "I am her boyfriend, and she is her best friend. Lindsay is the world to us, and NO ONE loves her like we do. We have to see her" He stared into the doctor's eyes. "All right" Doctor Henderson gave in after a few moments. As they followed her, Helen gawked at Bobby. He really did love Lindsay as much as she loved him. Now if only she would wake up ~*~*~*~ End Part 2 Feedback? Pretty please? I have quite a bit more written and could post it very soon, but I need some encouragement! :-) I'm having so much fun writing this! ~Steph (PracticeLuver@aol.com) Title: "My Everything" Part 3 Author: Stephanie, PracticeLuver@aol.com Author's note: Here is part 3. I hope everyone likes it. Thanks to everybody who sent me feedback, it really encourages me. :-) Summary and Disclaimer: See part 1 Part 3 Bobby gasped when he saw Lindsay. He had expected it to be bad, but…. This horrible he hadn't imagined. Her usually gorgeous face was mangled; he wouldn't have even been able to recognize her. It was scraped, scarred, and bruised, and a large bandage encircled her head. Lindsay's eyes, her usually bright, sparkling, sky blue eyes, were closed. Bobby needed the assurance that those eyes always brought him; the knowing look that everything would be okay. She could always tell him so much with one look in the eyes….but without seeing her eyes, and seeing her lay there limp, he knew everything would not be okay. To see Lindsay, the strongest woman he knew- the woman he loved!- so helpless, caused him to believe that the worst was inevitable. He was going to lose her… the thing most precious to him… before he even truly had her. Bobby started crying again, very quietly. Helen just stood there, staring at her dear friend lying lifeless in the hospital bed, thinking, It should have been me. Not Lindsay…. She wept silently. Finally Helen spoke. "Can she hear us if we talk to her?" she asked the doctor. "Maybe. We can't be for sure, but you're welcome to try." She then left the room. Helen shakily approached the bed and took her friend's bandaged hand. "Hey babe… it's me… listen, everything is going to be okay. You're going to wake up and make a full recovery. We'll talk, and shop, and laugh together again…" Helen stopped talking as sobs racked her body. "What if she's not okay?" she asked Bobby. "What if she never wakes up? What will I do without her, Bobby?" she looked up at him, pleading for an answer. "I don't- I don't know," he stammered, then ran out of the room, feeling sick at the idea. What would ANY of them do without her? Lindsay was always so sweet, so caring, so funny… she brought a certain life to the firm. And she brings light into my life, Bobby thought. He then went into the bathroom and splashed some water on his face. I have to stay brave, he thought. He took a few deep breaths to calm himself and then made his way back to Lindsay's room. A few feet away from it, he heard voices and people crying. Bobby walked in to see that Rebecca, Ellenor, and Eugene had arrived. Apparently, Helen had told them what happened, because they were all crying, and Bec was saying, "That's Lindsay, always thinking of others." Bobby waved weakly at everyone, and they all glanced at each other. "How's he holding up?" he heard Eugene whisper to Helen. "I don't know. He seems pretty crushed, but that's normal, his girlfriend is in a coma." Bobby walked over to the bed, ignoring everyone's worried looks. "Lindsay, hey. It's Bobby. Helen, Bec, Ellenor, and Eugene are here too. We're all right behind you, you're going to be fine. Everything will be okay, sweetheart," he whispered, kissing her cheek. "Everything will be okay." ~*~*~*~ Bobby and Helen both stayed the night in Lindsay's hospital room, sleeping on hard plastic chairs. Helen awoke first. She moved closer to Lindsay, talking to her quietly, being careful not to wake Bobby. "Hey sweetie. You're doing great, the doctor said you're making some real progress," she lied, trying to comfort her friend, if she could hear her. "Bobby's here too… we both spent the night. No, don't worry, it wasn't like that," Helen smiled. "He really loves you Linds… I know you didn't believe it before, but he does. I'm really sorry babe, but I've got to go. I've got a case, but as soon as it's over I'll be back here, glued to this chair again." She then kissed Lindsay on the forehead. "I love you. Get better." Before she left, she shook Bobby awake. "Bobby." "Huh?" He woke up groggily. "I've gotta jet…. A case…. But I'll be back later. Call me if anything happens." "I will. Bye." Helen left, and Bobby sat there staring at Lindsay lying there motionless. Oh, what he'd give to see her smile. Her wonderful glorious smile that could brighten the darkest day… he HAD to see that smile again. And he would not leave her side until he did. Eugene had told Bobby the firm would take care of all the cases or meetings he had lined up, so he could be with Lindsay. Everyone could see how much he loved her, it was blatantly obvious, and how much he was hurting inside. Bobby walked over and leaned down over Lindsay's bed. He looked at her bruised face and his eyes filled with tears. "Hey Linds. You're doing great, honey. I spent the night here, and I am not going to leave until you wake up. Okay? Whenever you wake up I am going to be right here beside you." He took her hand. "Lindsay, I … I know I've never said this before, I guess I was just too scared that you didn't feel the same, or I was just scared at how strong my feelings were. But now, the idea of me never saying it to you, of you never knowing it, scares me even more. I love you." A lone tear ran down his cheek as he stroked her hair. " I really do. I love you so much. You just have to wake up so I can tell you." Bobby hoped that Lindsay would wake up and shout "I love you too!", and everything would be perfect, but of course that didn't happen. Bobby sighed and sat back in a chair, waiting for some sign, ANY sign, that Lindsay would be okay. He sat there for well over an hour, never letting go of Lindsay's hand, before Doctor Henderson came in. "Been here all night?" "Yes. I'm not going to leave her until she wakes up." "Mr. Donnell-" "Please, call me Bobby." "Okay, Bobby. I think it's very sweet that you want to stay by her side, but-" "But what?" Bobby interrupted her. "How long before she wakes up?" "Well, it could be anywhere from a couple of days to a couple of years, or… never." She paused. "However, if patients are in a coma for a month and have made no progress whatsoever, we seriously consider letting them go." Doctor Henderson spoke very gently, expecting the reaction that would follow. "NO! DON'T SAY THAT! LINDSAY IS GOING TO WAKE UP SOON AND SHE WILL BE FINE!" Bobby yelled, trying to force himself to believe it. The doctor checked Lindsay over, then replied, "I sure hope so," before leaving the room. Bobby stayed at the hospital all day, never leaving Lindsay's side, as he had promised. Lucy, Ellenor, Eugene, Jimmy, Rebecca, and Helen were all packed into her room along with Bobby in the evening. "Bobby," Jimmy said, " You have to go home. Get some sleep, take a shower. You can come back tomorrow." "No." Bobby stated stubbornly. "Bobby-" "Ellenor, don't start. I promised I'd stay here until she wakes up, and I have every intention of keeping that promise. Lindsay's ALWAYS been there for me. It's my turn to be there for her." Everyone nodded in silent agreement. That was how they all felt. By nine o'clock, everyone had left except for Helen and Bobby. They sat silently, but there was no question at all what they were thinking about. "You're in love with her," Helen finally broke the silence. It was a statement, not a question. "Yes," Bobby replied slowly. "Yes, I am in love with her. I only hope I didn't realize it too late." He started crying tears of tremendous pain, and Helen hugged him. "She loves you too, you know." "Really?" Bobby looked up at Helen with hopeful eyes. "More than life itself." She then winced at what she had said; Lindsay's life was frail at the moment. "She's my everything Helen…. My everything. What will I do if she doesn't make it? I can't go on without her," he spoke desperately. "I think we all feel that way Bobby. She is an incredible part of all of our lives. We just have to believe that she will be okay. And she will. Lindsay is an extraordinarily strong woman. You just have to believe, Bobby." Helen gave Lindsay a kiss on the cheek. "I have to go now, I'll come by tomorrow. I love you Lindsay." She smiled weakly at Bobby. "See ya tomorrow." "Bye." "And Bobby?" Helen turned back. "Yeah?" "Just believe." When Helen was gone, Bobby talked quietly to Lindsay. "I don't know if you heard what I said to Helen, but it's true. You are my everything, Linds. When I look at everything in my life, I see you. I can't picture my life without you. I'm so sorry I haven't had the courage to tell you this before, but it's true. Please get better, so I can tell you exactly how I feel. I love you. I need you." He then fell into an uncomfortable sleep in the chair, grasping Lindsay's hand throughout the night, as if he'd never let go. ~*~*~*~ End Part 3 Well?? Any comments? Can I please have some feedback? I don't care if you love it, or hate it, or want to throw things at me because it's so bad, please send me feedback! The more feedback I get, the sooner the next one is posted. Hehe, blackmail! :-) ~Steph (PracticeLuver@aol.com) Title: "My Everything" Part 4 Author: Stephanie, PracticeLuver@aol.com Author's Note: Hey guys, here is part 4. It is really sad. :'( I enjoyed writing it though. Thanks to everyone for the feedback. I love to write, and I'm happy to know that everyone enjoys this. :-) Summary: See Part 1 Disclaimer: They're not mine. And any songs I use in this part and in the parts to come aren't mine either. So don't sue me! Part 4 Over the next month, Bobby lived at the hospital. He had gone home once to pack a bag of clothes, but other than that he never left. Lindsay had been moved to a room that had an attached bathroom with a shower, so Bobby showered there. Helen and everyone from the firm came to visit Lindsay as much as they could, and were all very worried about Bobby. But, as much as they were scared for Bobby, they were scared for themselves too. None of them could imagine their lives without the brightness Lindsay brought to them, but her chance of survival was looking bleak. Exactly one month after Lindsay's accident, everyone was gathered in Lindsay's room. When Doctor Henderson came in, they all looked at her, expecting some answers. "Doctor," Bobby began," when Lindsay first came here in a coma, you said that after a month you would seriously consider letting her go if she hadn't made any progress. It's been a month, and we're all wondering what is going to happen." Doctor Henderson sighed. "I was expecting this, and have been thinking. Lindsay has made absolutely no progress in the last month. If anything, her condition has only gotten worse." "Is there any chance of her recovering?" Eugene voiced the question they were all afraid to ask. "As of now, I'd say the chances are slim to none." Helen gulped. "Wh-what do you suggest?" "If her condition has not gotten better as of this time tomorrow, we will take her off the respirator and let her pass, peacefully." Everyone's hopes, everyone's faith that Lindsay would get better crashed to the ground. It was over. Lindsay was going to die. Ellenor and Rebecca sobbed, hugging each other. Lucy covered her face with her hands, tears flowing freely down her cheeks, as Eugene and Jimmy cried for their dear friend. Helen had fallen to the ground, wailing, shouting at how unfair it was that she had to lose her best friend. Bobby stood there, shocked at the news, then fell back into a chair and wept, head in his hands. She's actually going to die, he thought. I never really thought it would happen, and now it is. Doctor Henderson had been crying too. "I'll leave now, but I'll be back tomorrow at around 1 in the afternoon. You all should come then too, to say your final good-byes." She then left the room. Everyone kept crying quietly for the next several minutes, then they all just sat there silently, thinking about the great loss that they would all endure the next day. No one knew what to say or do. Finally, Bobby moved over and sat in the chair closest to the bed. He took Lindsay's hand in his and spoke. "Lindsay, please wake up. You have to. Tonight is your last chance. Please. I can't lose you…. I just can't. I need you Linds. I need your beautiful smiling face, your wonderful sense of humor, your sweet, caring soul. If I lost you, I'd be losing myself." Bobby wiped a tear from his eye. " I….. I want to sing a song for you. It really reflects how I feel." Bobby took a deep breath, and started singing in a low, shaky voice. "Would you know my name if I saw you in heaven? Would you feel the same if I saw you in heaven? I must be strong and carry on 'Cause I know I don't belong here in heaven... Would you hold my hand if I saw you in heaven? Would you help me stand if I saw you in heaven? I'll find my way through night and day 'Cause I know I just can't stay here in heaven... Time can bring you down, time can bend your knees Time can break your heart, have you begging please... Beyond the door there's peace I'm sure And I know there'll be no more tears in heaven... Would you know my name if I saw you in heaven? Would you feel the same if I saw you in heaven? I must be strong and carry on 'Cause I know I don't belong here in heaven..." About halfway through the song, tears started streaming down Bobby's face. The words got to him; he felt the same way the writer of the song must have felt when writing it. That he was going to lose the thing most precious to him, but he knew she would go to heaven. And when he got there, would she remember him? Bobby wasn't sure he was worthy of heaven, but he knew that is definitely where Lindsay would be. It is where she deserved to be…. If she had to die. All the others had started sobbing again too, thinking about how much the lyrics hit home. Bobby kissed Lindsay softly on the lips. "I love you. We all love you." Everyone but Bobby then left, each of them feeling that their heart was ripped in two, saying they'd come back in the morning. They all knew that unless there was a miracle, they'd be coming to say good-bye. To say good-bye to a person who had such a strong impact on their lives. After they had all gone, Bobby looked up and prayed. "God," he began. "Lindsay is the best thing that ever happened to me. Please don't take her away from me now. She is loved by so many people; she's the greatest person I know. The reason she is in the condition that she is is just because she risked her life to save her best friend's. She doesn't deserve to die. Lindsay is my everything, God. Please let her be all right." Unable to sleep, Bobby stayed up nearly all night, thinking about the times he had had with Lindsay. He remembered how cute he thought she was when she first came in for an interview, and how there had been an instant attraction between them. After he had gotten to know her, however, he thought she was absolutely, stunningly beautiful. Lindsay understood him, and accepted him like he was. She didn't try to change him, and he appreciated that more than he could ever express. Whenever she looked at him with those bright blue sparkling eyes, he felt like he could die happy right then and there. Those eyes could see into his soul. And whenever she flashed her 1000-watt smile at him, he felt the whole world brighten. Bobby remembered how happy he had been at the Christmas party when, finally, after all they had been through, after all the time he had loved her, they became an official couple. He had never felt so happy as he did when they kissed that night. He remembered how he had wondered how he had ever gotten the most wonderful, gorgeous woman in the world to want to be with him. Bobby smiled, thinking about all the times he had woken up with her in his arms and watched her sleep. He loved the look on her face when she slept; it was one of peace. He could stare at her face forever. He would never get tired of looking at it, or of just being with her. He thought of how every time he held her it was like all was right with the world. I have to hold her again, Bobby thought. I have to. Bobby stayed up thinking about the woman that he loved, and how close she was to death, until nearly three in the morning, before he fell into an uneasy sleep. ~*~*~*~ End Part 4 Well, did you like it? I have to admit that I cried when I read it over again... hehe. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE tell me what you thought. I know exactly what is going to happen in the next part, I just have to write it out. Feedback motivates me!! :-) ~Steph, PracticeLuver@aol.com Title: "My Everything" Part 5 Author: Stephanie, PracticeLuver@aol.com Author's Note: La de da, I don't really have anything to say except thank you for all the wondeful feedback. It really makes my day! It's nice to know that something that it so much fun for me to do makes other people happy too! (hey, that rhymed!) :-) Summary and Disclaimer: See other parts Part 5 Lindsay opened her eyes and was nearly blinded by the light. She ached all over, and the pain in her head was horrible. She looked around the hospital room, confused, when she remembered the accident. She remembered shoving Helen out of the way of the eighteen-wheeler and then getting hit by it. That would explain the way I'm feeling, she thought. Lindsay looked to the right of the bed and saw Bobby sleeping in a chair. She smiled. I've probably only been here one night, she thought. She started to wake Bobby, but took a look at the clock and decided to let him sleep. It was nine thirty in the morning; he would be waking up soon. So Lindsay just stared at him, watching him sleep. Bobby awoke about thirty minutes later. He sat up, rubbing his eyes, when he heard the most angelic noise he had ever heard. "Morning, sleepyhead." Lindsay grinned at him. "Lindsay?" he asked in disbelief, blinking like it was a dream. "Yeah?" she asked, bewildered, not understanding his actions. "OH MY GOD LINDSAY!" He sobbed, throwing his arms around her, crying happily. "Thank you Lord… thank you Lord!" he choked out. Lindsay was shocked. "Bobby, what-?" "Lindsay, you have been in a coma for the past month. They were going to let you go today if you hadn't made any progress," Bobby explained, tears of joy streaming down his face. "What?" Lindsay whispered, just now realizing the severity of the situation and how close to death she actually was. "I thought that I had lost you, Linds. But you're going to be okay. Everything is going to be okay!" He embraced her, gently and lovingly, and they cried together. They stayed like that for several minutes, giving each other the comfort that only they could bring. The world makes sense again, Bobby thought. Finally they pulled apart, and a realization came to Bobby. "Oh!" he exclaimed. "I better go get the doctor and call everyone!" He got up and started to leave, but turned back around and looked at Lindsay, with that unmistakable look of love in his eyes. "I love you." It felt so good to finally say the words that he had felt for so long. "I love you too Bobby," she said, flashing him that smile. The smile that, if he wasn't already head over heels, would make him fall in love with her right on the spot. "I'll be right back," he said, and left the room. As he walked down the hall to get Doctor Henderson and call everyone to tell them the good news, Bobby wore a grin a mile wide. All he could picture was Lindsay's smiling face. His mind, his body, his soul, could comprehend nothing but her face. ~*~*~*~ After Bobby had made the calls that brightened everyone's lives, he followed Doctor Henderson back to Lindsay's room. Doctor Henderson laughed quietly; Bobby was beside himself with giddy happiness. He must really love her, she thought. As soon as they entered the room, Bobby parked himself in the chair nearest Lindsay and grabbed her hand, as if the five minutes they had spent apart nearly killed him. They grinned at each other, the way two people in love do. "Hello, Lindsay," Doctor Henderson said as she entered the room. "It's nice to finally meet you, after a whole month! How are you feeling?" Lindsay smiled warmly. "I feel okay, just a little weak, and my head hurts…. A lot." "Well, that's perfectly normal. You suffered a pretty major concussion; I'd be worried if your head didn't hurt!" she chuckled. "Bobby, could you excuse us for a few minutes while I check her over?" "Okay," said Bobby, obviously reluctant to leave. It was painful for him to be away from Lindsay for even a second. As Bobby waited impatiently in the hall, Helen ran over to him, nearly tripping over herself. "Where?" she yelled ecstatically. "Where is she?" "The doctor is checking her over." "Is she… okay?" "She's going to be fine," Bobby said, unable to contain his excitement. He and Helen hugged, and Helen screamed. "WOO-HOO! SHE'S GOING TO BE FINE! WOO-HOO! SHE'S GOING TO BE FINE!" Helen chanted it over and over, doing a little dance, until Doctor Henderson came out of the room. Bobby was happy when she did, for Helen was making quite a scene. "Okay, Bobby. You can go back in now. I know those two minutes must have felt like eternity… Oh Helen! Hi!" she said, pretending she hadn't heard Helen's little charade. "Hear the good news?" Helen ignored Doctor Henderson's question and ran madly into Lindsay's room, Bobby following at a slower pace. "LINDSAY!" Helen screamed the word with joy as she saw her best friend, awake and smiling. Helen hugged Lindsay gently and cried with relief. "I never thought I'd talk to you again. I thought you were gone." "It's okay, Helen. I'm fine now. Everything is going to be fine," Lindsay tried to soothe her friend. Helen pulled away from the hug and stared Lindsay in the eyes. "I love you Linds. You are my best friend. I have been so depressed the last month, but now, I am happier than I have ever been. I love you so much." Helen drew in a breath, as if to compose herself, before continuing softly. "You saved my life. I will never be able to thank you enough." Lindsay took Helen's hand in hers. "You are my very best friend, Helen. You are the main reason my life has been so wonderful over the past few years. When I saw that eighteen-wheeler coming at you, all I could think about was how much you mean to me, and how I couldn't let you get hit by it. I had to save you, or die trying. And I would do it again, in a heartbeat." The two friends hugged again, crying. Bobby, who was standing on the opposite side of the bed as Helen, wiped away a tear that was threatening to fall. He didn't want them to see that he was crying, too. ~*~*~*~ Within the next hour, everyone was gathered in Lindsay's hospital room. Bobby was in the chair closest to Lindsay's bed, of course, holding her hand. Helen was also sitting in a chair, and Ellenor was leaning against it. Lucy and Rebecca were sitting on the foot of the bed, and Eugene and Jimmy were standing. "We're all so happy that you are okay," Rebecca said, rubbing Lindsay's leg. "We were all so scared that you wouldn't make it." "Yeah," Lucy agreed. "The firm would have lost a lot of money." "LUCY!" Everyone but Lindsay yelled. "Just kidding!" Lucy said quickly. She then looked at Lindsay, sincerely and seriously this time. "We would all have lost a dear friend." Lindsay blushed. "Thank you Lucy. I am really touched." Lucy grinned in reply, then everyone began talking, just happy to all be together. However, Bobby just sat there silently, watching. He felt so happy, and, so in love. Lindsay laughed at something Jimmy said, and Bobby laughed right along with her. He hadn't heard the joke; just seeing Lindsay laugh made his body fill with joy, so he laughed too. Lindsay looked up at Bobby and smiled. That smile that made him weak. "What?" she asked, grinning, noticing the intense stare he was giving her. "I'm just thinking," Bobby replied, a dazed smile on his face. "About?" Lindsay prompted him to go on. "You. And how happy I am. And how much I love you." Lindsay was shocked at his words. It was so unlike him to share his feelings, especially in front of everyone. She smiled, a sweet, blissful smile, with tears in her eyes. "I love you too." "Aaaawwwww!" Everyone cooed. It was such a sweet moment. Lindsay went back to talking to everyone, but Bobby just continued to stare at her. He relished all of it; all her smiles, all her laughs, the sparkle in her gorgeous eyes, that look she gave when she tried to be serious. Every moment I have with her is precious, he thought. I know that now, and I am going to act on it. ~*~*~*~ End Part 5 I know, I know. Pure mush and sap. But I am a big romantic so I love sap! Especially when Bobby and Lindsay are concerned. Well, anyways, what did you think? I have worked so hard on this, I'm dying to know if it has paid off. Please send feedback. PLEASE! I'm BEGGING you! The next part should be up in a few days. There are probably going to be 2 or 3 more parts to it :-) ~Steph (PracticeLuver@aol.com) Title: "My Everything" Part 6 Author: Stephanie, PracticeLuver@aol.com Author's Note: Here is part 6. It is kinda pointless and short, but just leads into the last part. Hope you like it, and thanks for the great feedback! :-) Summary and Disclaimer: See other parts Part 6 On a Friday a week later, Doctor Henderson informed Bobby that Lindsay could go home. All of her bones had healed, and, except for some scars and bruises, she was pretty much 100% healthy. Bobby drove Lindsay back to her apartment very slowly, as if he went too fast it would hurt her. "Bobby?" Lindsay said, amused. "Hmm?" he answered, placing his right hand on her thigh. "I won't break if you speed it up to, oh, five miles an hour," she teased, grinning. "Sorry," Bobby blushed, and began to drive a little faster. When they reached Lindsay's apartment, Bobby jumped out of the car and opened her door for her. He grabbed her hand, and pulled her close to him. Bobby tucked a stray piece of Lindsay's hair behind her ear, and then leaned in until their lips met. The kiss was very tender, and full of love. When they finally pulled apart, Lindsay looked up and smiled at Bobby. "What was that for?" she asked. "Being you," he replied simply, then led her inside. Lindsay unlocked her door and was greeted with a pitch-black apartment. She flipped the light switch on. "SURPRISE!!" Eugene, Bec, Ellenor, Jimmy, Helen, and Lucy all screamed. There were balloons and crepe paper everywhere, and a big banner read, "Welcome Home!" "You guys…" Lindsay began tearfully. "You shouldn't have done this!" Helen rushed up to her friend. "We wanted to, Linds," she said, hugging her. "We want you to know how much you mean to all of us." Lindsay turned to Bobby. "Did you know about this?" Bobby had a mischievous grin on his face. "Of course." Lindsay kissed him on the cheek. "Thank you," she whispered. "Thank you all!" Lucy was getting antsy. "Hey, let's get this party started!" she shouted. Soon there was music playing, and everyone was talking and laughing. "Bec?" Bobby said, walking up to Rebecca. "Yeah?" she asked, turning away from a conversation she was having with Eugene. "Can I talk to you for a sec?" "Sure," she replied, following him into the kitchen. "What's up?" "Well, I have this idea…. Something to do for Lindsay, and I…. Well, I just wanted to run it by you, and hear your opinion." "Okay. What's your idea?" As Bobby told Rebecca his plan, her eyes filled with tears. "That's perfect, Bobby." "Really?" he asked doubtfully. "You think she'll like it?" "Of course! How could she not? When are you going to do it?" Bobby smiled. "Saturday. Tomorrow." "Aw! I can't believe it!" Rebecca gave him a hug. "Me neither. Now let's get back to the party." "What? Do you miss Lindsay already?" Bec joked, knowing that it was true. Bobby laughed sheepishly and walked back into the living room, Rebecca following him out. He looked over to the couch, and saw Lindsay talking and laughing with Helen and Lucy. Bobby smiled. "Excuse me, everyone," he spoke loudly. Everybody looked up at him. Bobby walked over to the stereo, and said, "I want to dedicate this song to Lindsay." He fiddled with the controls, then walked over to Lindsay. "Dance with me?" he asked, and held out his hand. She took it, looking up at him with big eyes, and they began to dance as the song blared out of the speakers. "I don't need a lot of things I can get by with nothing Of all the blessings life can bring I've always needed something But I've got all I want When it comes to loving you You're my only reason You're my only truth I need you like water Like breath, like rain I need you like mercy From heaven's gate There's a freedom in your arms That carries me through I need you You're the hope that moves me To courage again You're the love that rescues me When the cold winds, rage And it's so amazing 'Cause that's just how you are And I can't turn back now 'Cause you've brought me too far I need you like water Like breath, like rain I need you like mercy From heaven's gate There's a freedom in your arms That carries me through I need you Oh yes I do I need you like water Like breath, like rain I need you like mercy From heaven's gate There's a freedom in your arms That carries me through I need you Oh yes I do I need you I need you" Everyone watched as Bobby and Lindsay danced. They were so obviously in love that no one could take their eyes away from them. Lindsay had her head on his shoulder, and Bobby's face was buried in her hair, as if inhaling its scent. Bobby lifted his head and looked straight into Lindsay's eyes. "I do, you know," he said. "Do what?" she asked, confused. "Need you." Bobby laid his head back down on Lindsay. He had never felt so good, so…. right. I want to spend the rest of my life with this woman, he thought. I just have to wait until tomorrow. "I love you," Lindsay whispered. "And I love you. More than I could ever express." Even after the song ended, they continued to dance. They didn't care that there was no music. They just cared that they were together. As far as they were concerned, that was all that ever really mattered. ~*~*~*~ Bobby woke up very early Saturday morning. He smiled, thinking about how amazing the night before had been. He had never experienced a night filled with more passion, more tenderness, more…. love. Bobby tightened his arms around Lindsay, then leaned down and kissed her forehead. She still slept, and Bobby just stared at her. He was so amazed at the fact that every time he looked at her, she was more beautiful. And how whenever they were together, his love for her deepened every second. Everything she said, everything she did, made him love her more. Even when she did nothing, like now, when she slept, his love grew. Bobby wondered if she loved him as much as he loved her, but then he thought that wasn't humanly possible. Lindsay slept with a sweet smile on her face, and Bobby was tempted to wake her up with a kiss. But since it was so early, he decided to just let her sleep, and go into the kitchen to prepare part of the surprise he had for her that day. Bobby reluctantly tore his gaze away from Lindsay and got up. All he could think about were the plans he had made for the day, and how he hoped Lindsay would love it. ~*~*~*~ End Part 6 I'm sorry it was so pointless and short, but it's purpose is to lead into the seventh and last part. I know exactly what is going to happen in the last part, but I have to write it. It may take awhile to get posted, because it will be hard to write and I am really busy. It should be up within a week or so, but any feedback you guys have will get it up that much faster.... :-) ~Steph (PracticeLuver@aol.com) Title: "My Everything", Part 7 Author: Stephanie, PracticeLuver@aol.com Author's Note: This is the final part of my very first fanfic! Yay! I'm so sorry it took me so long to post, I have just been extremely busy with school lately and softball season just started and I haven't had much time to write. but I want to thank all of the people who have given me such good feedback throughout the whole story. Enjoy! :-) Summary and Disclaimer: See other parts please!! Part 7 "Bobbyyyyy!!" Lindsay whined, tugging at her blindfold. "Where are you taking me?" "Lindsay, sweetie, if I told you where we were going that would totally defeat the whole purpose of the surprise," Bobby smiled. He then picked her up and carried her out of her apartment and to his car. "Here, Linds. We're at the car," he said, opening the door and placing her in the passenger seat. Bobby then walked over to the driver's side and got in. He saw Lindsay reach up to her face, as if she was going to try to take the blindfold off. "Uh!!" Bobby scolded her. "No peeking!!" "Humph!" Lindsay sat back, defeated, with her arms crossed over her chest. Bobby glanced sideways at her as he started the car and grinned. "You know what?" he asked. "What?" "You are amazingly cute when you whine." Lindsay smiled at him in spite of herself. ~*~*~*~ About thirty minutes later, they arrived at their destination. Bobby parked the car and got out. Lindsay started to open her door blindly, but Bobby stopped her. "Wait here!" he instucted. "And NO peeking!" He then unloaded the car and went to set things up. After about ten minutes, Bobby returned to the car to get Lindsay. He opened her door and took her hand, then led her to the spot. "Okay," he said when they stopped walking. "You can take your blindfold off." Lindsay removed the blindfold from her eyes, and gasped at the sight before her. They were in a shady spot with big trees in a park overlooking a lake. Underneath a giant oak tree Bobby had spread out blankets and there were two large picnic baskets sitting on them. Bobby had also brought a battery-powered portable CD player. The afternoon sun was shining brightly on the clear blue lake, making a wonderful reflection on the water. "It's beautiful," Lindsay whispered. "Yeah," Bobby said, looking at Lindsay in her khaki capri pants and figure hugging blue tank top that brought out her eyes. "I love the scenery." Lindsay blushed, realizing what he meant, and looked down in embarrassment. "You are beautiful, Linds," Bobby said, wanting her to believe it. He then felt his knees go weak as she flashed him a smile. Oh, that smile, he thought. After they stood there for a moment, staring at each other, Bobby broke the silence. "Well, I'm starved. I packed us a big picnic lunch, so, let's eat!" As they ate, they talked and laughed, feeling extremely content just being together. Bobby grinned as he watched Lindsay eat a sandwich. She would first nibble off the crust, then eat the rest. Bobby was amazed at how tiny things she did, like eating, brought him such joy. She looked up and caught him staring at her. "What?" she asked. "Nothing," Bobby replied, smiling at her. The time they were done eating was near sunset, and it was getting cool. "Brrr..." Lindsay shivered. Bobby pulled out a blanket and they snuggled under it together. Lindsay laid her head on Bobby's chest and wrapped her arms around him, as he breathed in the scent of her hair. "Thank you for today," Lindsay said. "Thank you for EVERY day." They laid there like that for several minutes, watching the sun set over the horizon. Bobby glanced at his watch, and was gathering his wits for what he was about to do. He was about to share his feelings with the woman of his dreams. "Lindsay, I want to talk to you," he said, propping himself up on his elbow so he faced Lindsay. He then looked her in the eyes and kissed her. After they pulled apart she smiled, and waited for him to speak. One thing Lindsay had learned about Bobby was that you had to let him take his time with things. Finally, he began. "Lindsay Dole, I love you. I love you more than I ever thought I was capable of loving anyone. When my mother died, I never thought I would ever be happy again, love again. And that was true for awhile. There was a period on my life where I was like a robot: Eat, sleep, work. Eat, sleep, work. It was as if I had forgotten how to be happy. But that all changed the moment you walked into my life. You changed me, Lindsay. Just knowing you has changed me and my life in so many ways. You are the most remarkable person I have ever met. You are so smart, so caring, so funny, so beautiful, but most of all, so loyal. I have never known anyone that stands up for themselves and their friends like you do. You have shown me what it is like to love, and be loved, again. Whenever I am with you, I am happier than I have ever been. You are everything to me. That month you were in a coma..... that was the hardest month of my life. All I could think about was how I might lose the woman I love, my everything, without you ever knowing how I felt. I hadn't ever told you, and that drove me crazy." Bobby took a deep breath. "Bobby, I knew-" Lindsay began, crying, but Bobby cut her off. "Please, just let me finish. I know I am horrible at relationships, and at showing my true feelings. It took me a long time to even recognize my true feelings. But I realized.... when I never wanted to be away from you, how I wish I could carry around your smile in a box so I would always be cheerful, how everything made me think of you.... I realized how much I love you. I love you so much. You are my everything." Both of them were crying now, happy tears. Bobby stood up, and pulled Lindsay with him. He put a CD in the portable CD player and took her hand. "Let's dance." They danced with their forheads touching, never breaking the intense stare between them. Each of them could see the great love in the other's eyes. As the song played, Bobby sang along with it. It mirrored his feelings for Lindsay exactly. "To loneliness of nights so long The search for strength to carry on My every hope had seemed to die My eyes had no more tears to cry Then like the sun shined from up above You surrounded me with your endless love And all things I couldn't see Are now so clear to me You are my everything Nothing your love won't bring My life is yours alone The only love I've ever known Your spirit pulls me through When nothing else will do Every night I pray on bended knee That you will always be My everything Now all my hopes and all my dreams Are suddenly reality You've opened up my heart to feel The kind of love that's truly real A guiding light that'll never fade There's not a thing in life that I would ever trade For the love you give and won't let go I hope you'll always know You are my everything Nothing your love won't bring My life is yours alone The only love I've ever known Your spirit pulls me through When nothing else will do Every night I pray on bended knee That you will always be My everything You're the breath of life in me The only one that sets me free And you have made my soul complete For all time For all time You are my everything Nothing your love won't bring My life is yours alone The only love I've ever known Your spirit pulls me through When nothing else will do Every night I pray on bended knee That you will always be My everything Oh, my everything." As the song ended, fireworks started exploding in the sky over the lake. "Oohh, fireworks!" Lindsay squealed. She then looked up and gasped at what she saw. Written in gold glittery letters in the sky were these words: LINDSAY, I LOVE YOU. MARRY ME? Lindsay then looked down to see Bobby kneeling with a ring. "Lindsay, I love you. I have never loved anyone as much as I love you, and I never will. Everything about you makes me so happy. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you please be my wife?" Lindsay laughed as the happy tears streamed down her face. "Yes, Bobby Donnell! I will!" They then hugged and kissed and laughed and cried. Bobby slipped the ring on Lindsay's finger and whispered, "I love you." Lindsay looked deep into Bobby's eyes. "I love you." THE END ~*~*~*~ Whew! Well, what did you think?
