Title: Snapshots Author: Staci Disclaimer: These characters are not mine, no indeed! If they were I would not of had to do that accounting test today! I could pay someone else to! Summery: B&L! Okay just pretend for my stories purpose that B & L are the same age! Bobby goes back in time to figure out a perplexing matter! This set at the start of the third season! Authors note: When you seen a (B) then the following is Bobby's pov, and when you see a (L) the following is Lindsay's pov! - - - - - - - - `Snapshots' - - - - - - - -(Bobby's pov) Do you ever do things just because something bugs you? It nags at you and plagues you until you find out what's behind it all. Do you ever take things too far and you know your over reacting but you can't help it because something in the back of your mind tells you there is more to the picture. It turns you into a fool. I've heard of it happening to other people. But I knew it would never happen to me because I was always in control. I was wrong. - - - -Summer of 1999- - - - - - It was just sitting there…open. …What was I to do? I had already examined the rest of the room while I had been waiting, then my eyes fell to the end seat of the couch that I was perched on, and there it lay, just screaming for me to look at it. I tried to ignore it and go on waiting but suddenly I found myself sitting right next to it. My gaze fell onto the page,..photos…delicately arranged in symmetry. I chuckled at the cheeky face staring back at me. As I turned the pages I saw it went in chronological order. Right before me the little girl matured, you could see the understanding in her eyes grow with each snapshot. There was a period just with pictures of objects and abstract things. Written underneath them were things like, `Assignment Photo' or `Project five'. She must have studied photography in school. She was good! Unfortunately these photos's seemed to take the place of the ones of her. Soon though, my smiling face turned into a perplexed one. That photo…talk about a major deja vu? I had never seen her album before let alone this picture, so why? I picked up the album and placed in on my lap to get a closer look. The date on the corner read 26TH June 1984. Due to the chronological order, and if my calculations were right she would have been 14 when this photo was taken. That was also the same year I turned 14. Anyway, the picture was of a lake with a small peer and a Tarzan rope hanging from a big willow, the sun was rising so the sky was streaked with red and pink. It was a very picturesque shot. I was about to take the photo out to see if anything was written on the back of it when the doorbell rang. I flipped the book shut and dove back to my seat. Innocently I turned to see who else had arrived. In strode Bec and Lucy armed with munchies. At last! I was no longer the only one here. I hate being the first one at… well anything. It's always so uncomfortable, luckily when I arrived Helen wasn't home yet and Lindsay had to finish some cooking so I was aloud to wait alone….with no awkward conversations and, … with the album. I'm not quite sure how this get-together came about, first we were having a staff meeting then all of a sudden there has been a firm video night established! One word…Lucy! Soon everyone was there and we all piled into the lounge room. Lindsay and I were ahead of the rest. As I sat down where I had been earlier I cringed when I realised I had closed the album, after she had left it open. I prayed she wouldn't notice. She didn't seem to. She placed it on top of the TV and we all got settled. Sitting, laying and leaning, ready for the videos to capture us. I couldn't concentrate, not now, I had to figure out what was up with that photo or I wouldn't stay sane. I wanted to look at it again but since it was on top of the TV, I figured me jumping over the back of the couch, flying over Eugene and Lucy on the floor and standing right in front of the movie wouldn't be discrete. So I leaned back and went into my own personal daze to try and figure out some clues. Okay so I had: 26th June 1984 - 14 years old - summer - summer holidays - Got my braces off - Year mom was diagnosed - camp Coonawarra - Wait! Camp - Vikki Rowlyn - the camp that Vikki Rowlyn went to - the camp where I had my first real kiss, from Vikki Rowlyn - the end of camp dance - the peer!!!!!!!! That was what the picture was of! Okay now that I know where it's from I can rest easy! I was just about to relax and watch Denzel when a more perplexing thought came to me! Why did Lindsay have a picture of where I had my first kiss?? And judging from further calculations it was taken the day after I received my first kiss. Several different scenarios came to mind but none that would put me to ease so I decided to replay that summer. I reached back into my mind for the archived files from before mom died. - - - - - - The Summer of 84 - - - - - -- "Dad I don't want to go!" I pouted and slumped back into my chair. Mom and dad had been trying to make me go to summer camp again. I had gone two years before and I had enjoyed it immensely, but that was before mom was diagnosed. I secretly wanted to go, but I knew mom needed me. She was getting weaker by the day. She would say that she wanted me to go but I could tell she wasn't thrilled about the idea, so I put up a fight for her. I knew they would make me go so I didn't worry about them backing down but I wanted mom to know I was thinking of her. The main reason I wanted to go was, this year I didn't have my braces on anymore, and Amy Patterson would be there! I saw her at the last camp and immediately I had a crush! My first crush! And I was determined that she would be my first dance this year! "Your going son, your mom needs a rest and that's all there is about it!" "Honey I know you worry about me but really I will be fine! You go and enjoy yourself!" I gave a little smile and gave mom a hug and kiss on her cheek then practically skipped to my room. I was going to camp! - - - Cambridge - - - (Lindsay's pov) "How's my little camper? Linds!" Dad walked into the kitchen and patted my head. "Ready for the great outdoors, huh? And to see all your camp friends?" I gave a little smile and nodded. My Dad was just as excited about camp as he thought I was, but the truth was I didn't want to go! Brian parents were going to be away and he had personally invited me to his party! Me! Brian! And now I have to go to summer camp, again! Sure seeing my friends wouldn't be so bad but not seeing Brian would be almost unbearable. Unfortunately though there was no changing my parent minds. I knew they would make me go no matter what. "Linds, you better get ready and pack, I can see you are practically jumping with excitement!" I got up and gave him a hug and a kiss on the cheek then slumped back to my room, turned the radio up and dreamed of Brian. I was going to camp. - - - Camp Coonawarra - - - - "Okay Campers, let's go!" "Yeahhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!" the millions of kids continued to yell and scream as they went off to their cabins. I rolled my eyes, sighed and slugged my bags towards the butterfly cabin. Every year I had been in the butterfly cabin with Joan, Vikki, Michelle and Amy. I went in and greeted the girls. They were all there except for Joan. We hugged and examined each other's new haircuts or piercing's. Then I climbed onto my bunk to unpack. We had all had the same bunks since the first year we were there. We each had carved our names in the wood above our chosen bed. Soon in walked Joan and the greetings started again. Camp had officially begun! - - - - Tiger Cabin - - - (B) I walked meekly up the steps, slung my bag around on my back and turned the knob. When I looked inside the other boys were already unpacking. They looked friendly enough but I was still a little scared. As I entered they all turned. I gave a small smile and proceeded to the empty bunk. "Hello!" I turned around to see a boy with red hair and freckles, his face looked familiar. "Hi!" I returned and put forth my hand. He shook it and laughed. "You were here a couple of years ago weren't you?" He asked, I knew I had seen him before he had been in the same cabin as me two years ago. "Yeah, I'm Bobby!" He smiled and nodded "I'm Charlie! Um this is, Ken, Ryan and Mark! Hey lets get you settled!" I smiled and started to unpack. Camp had officially begun! - - - - - - - end of part one------- ------Part 2--------- The first couple of days the boys stayed with the boys and the girls stayed with the girls. The girls camp was over the other side of the river, so at the most I would see some of them canoeing or on their way to the ropes course, but that was it…until…. They came for the night hike! - - - - - We grabbed our torches and put on our comfortable shoes. There was no need for a jacket, the air was dewy and humid. As I walked with the other boys to the meeting area I could feel the squadron of butterflies causing havoc in my stomach. We stood at the back and I strained to see over the other kids to get a glimpse of Amy. No such luck, but I had the rest of the hike to look. "Attention campers! Here are the rules!" - - - - - - - - (L) Great, here we go again with the rules. The same rules as every other year, the rules that no one followed anyway but that took about half an hour to say. I settled down at the base of a tree and played with my torch. "Some cute guys here!" Amy said and sat down next to me. I sighed. The only boy I wanted to see was miles away, probably inviting some other girl to his party. - -- - - (B) After some helpful rules the hike began. Off we went, there was about a hundred or more kids with flashlights shining all around like a moving disco. The hike wore on, my feet gradually got sore and I still hadn't seen Amy. We finally arrived back at camp and a disappointment surrounded me. I started on my way to the cabin when I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned around and what I saw took my breath away. She looked like she had just stepped of Sunset Boulevard. The lights from the torches behind me provided the perfect light to highlight her face, her blue eyes glowed and her light brown-golden hair flowed halfway down her back. I blinked to make sure she wasn't a dream. "Could you uh please tell me the time?" She smiled and I almost fell over. I fumbled with my watch till I could make out the time. "Um it's 20 past!" "20 past what?" She raised her eyebrows and chuckled. "Oh right, um 20 past two!" "Thanks!" She nodded and walked off. I watched her walk away, she was slightly shorter than me but I felt only two feet tall. I was sure she was an actress and thousands of boys probably had her picture in their lockers. Amy was nothing compared to her! I had a new crush! Amy was too late, I hadn't seen Amy, she hadn't asked me for the time. This girl had. As I walked back to my cabin I came to the conclusion that I didn't have a crush… I hadn't felt this way when I first saw Amy. The only thing more extreme than a crush, I had been told, is being smitten! I was smitten! "Hey Bobby, you look sick!" Charlie exclaimed as I walked, still stunned, into the cabin. "I've been smitten!" "Bitten by what? Did it hurt?" "Not bitten! Smitten!" I smiled and fell onto my bunk and fell asleep. - - - - - ------- (L) "Could you uh please tell me the time?" Did that sound as stupid to him as it did to me? I couldn't help it he was so cute! I had seen him during the hike and he took me breath away, I just had to talk to him! For the first time this camp, I wasn't sad to be here and not with Brian! This boy had the most amazing blue eyes and rich dark hair. He was probably a model! "Um it's 20 past!" Oh what a voice! I could listen to it forever, I had to here it again. "20 past what?" I chuckled. I can't believe I asked that, he didn't seem to mind though. "Oh right um 20 past two!" Oh how sexy can you get? If I didn't get away soon I would turn to mush. "Thanks!" I nodded and walked away with a spring in my step. I had a crush! No it was more than that. I was smitten! I walked back to the cabin in a daze. "Lindsay are you alright?" Vikki asked as I stepped inside. "Just smitten that's all!" "What bit you?" "Not bitten! Smitten!" I grinned and climbed onto to my bunk and fell asleep. - - - - -Tiger Cabin - - - - -(B) The trumpet blew and I rolled over. I didn't partically love waking up to that loud noise. I put my pillow over my head and tried to get back to sleep. Then I sprang up and remembered… I was smitten. I jumped up and got dressed never removing the smile which hung on my face. The other boys were slowly rising and looking at me funny. I wasn't one to be first up so I granted them permission to go on looking at me funny. - - - - - - Butterfly Cabin - - - - -(L)) As usual I had slept right through the trumpet and Amy was kicking my bed from underneath telling me to get up or we would be late. I stretched and laid there for a while, then I sat up. I had been smitten! I jumped down and dressed in lightning speed, in fact I was the first one out of the cabin, which has never ever happened before. - - - - - Boys - - - - (B) "…Then there will be free time for three hours!" That was the only sentence that I heard at breakfast. Free time! When free time came around so did the girls! They had free time as well and because we had the best swimming area they always came over to our side of the camp. This day couldn't get any better! - - - - Girls - - - - - (L) I lived for free time! I was giddy when they announced that we would have three whole hours at one o'clock! What to do? It wasn't really a question, the other name for free time was `swimming with the boys'. Three hours swimming with the boys! The camp leaders were never thrilled about free time because it made their jobs harder! Who would want to be a camp leader anyway? Who grows up and says, `I want to sleep with spiders, wake up to a horn and eat slop all my life? I couldn't be bothered trying to think of who, so I started the long process of what to wear swimming. "This day couldn't get any better!" I exclaimed to the other girls. "On the contrary, I think it could!" Michelle smiled and raised her eyebrows. She was right it could! ------end of part 2--------- ---------Part 3---------- - -- Free time (aka Swimming with boys) - -- - -(B) The sun was shinning on the water, there were no clouds in the sky. The weather was perfect. Kids were spread out along the banks and some where sitting on the peer. We put our towels under the willow and Ken started to climb the tree. We followed each other up till we were all standing on a big branch that hung over the lake. "One, Two, Three!" We all jumped into the cold water creating a rather large splash onto some kids sunbaking, we didn't care though, we were boys having fun. We each grabbed a tire-tube and had races in between the red buoys that were floating around. Then she arrived, well I should say they, but she was the only one I was waiting for. I spanned across the group. There were five girls and Amy was with the group, she was standing next to her. Even In this light Amy was nothing compared to her. I looked back at her. Orange bikini, blue eyes, stunning legs! I should find out her name. "Hey Mark!" I yelled for him to come over. - - - (Mark) - - - - - "Hey Mark!" I looked around to see who was calling me. It was Bobby. He was waving me over, so I paddled myself as best I could to him till I bumped into his tube. "You see those girls that just walked down to the bank?" "How can you not? They're the butterflies!" I grinned. "The butterflies?" he asked. "They're from the butterfly cabin, they're always at this camp and always together! Hot aren't they!" I raised my eyebrows and surveyed them appreciately. "Yeah what's that ones name?" He asked and pointed rather vaguely, as far as I could tell he could have been asking about any of them. So I took a guess. "Um I think you mean Vikki Rowlyn! Yeah nice huh?" Not the nicest, I thought, that went, by far, to Lindsay, but still. - - - - - - (B) - -- "Yeah!" Vikki Rowlyn, I said it to myself a couple of time to get use to it. There were five butterflies and they seemed to get all the attention of the boys. I had no chance. - - - - - - - (L) - - -- We walked down the path to the lake; you could hear the other kids splashing around already. We were always one of the last groups to come, that way the boys would notice us, it was Amy's idea. "Some cute guys here!" Amy said and sat down on the peer. I sighed, the only boy I wanted to see was nowhere in site yet, and he was probably off with some other girl. I spanned the lake banks. He wasn't on land. I spanned the water. I did a double take and stopped short when I came to the red buoys. There he was. Red board shorts, blue eyes and well toned muscles! I should find out his name. "Hey Vikki!" she broke away from her tanning oil and nodded at me. - - - - (Vikki) - - - - "Hey Vikki!" I looked up to see what Lindsay wanted. "You see those boys out at the red buoys?" Had I ever, they were the first ones I looked for. "How can I not? Not bad huh?" I nodded appreciately. "Yeah what's his name?" She pointed towards the boys and from my angle I couldn't see exactly who she meant, so I took a guess. "Um I think you mean Mark Layzer! He's one of Charlies friends from the tiger cabin!" - - - -(L) - - - - "Oh thanks!" Mark Layzer, so that was his name. He was so good looking. I had no chance. - - - - - - - - -- - The three hours flew by. Like they say time flies when your having fun! I don't remember much about the rest of the afternoon. When we got back to our side of the camp we were told that we had one more activity then we had to go to the reck hall. And that's where I sit now, with Michelle writing messages with her fingers on my back for me to guess, I wasn't being the best guesser, I couldn't concentrate. Joan was drawing on my hand trying to work out this other game with Vikki and Amy was doing Vikki's hair. To say the least were weren't paying any attention to what was being said by the leaders. "Okay girls go get ready!" The other girls started to file out of the hall. "Hey what's going on?" Vikki asked me. "As If I listened!" I replied, jumped down the ramp and ran up to a younger girl. "Hey what are we doing?" I asked and she turned around. "We gonna have a bonfire with the boys for dinner!" She smiles and skipped away. I grinned and ran up to Amy and Jumped on her back. "Oomph, oh Lindsay you'll break my back!" "But I feel as light as a feather! Guess what were getting ready for!" "What?" She turned her head straining to see me. "A bonfire with the boys!" I said slyly! "What! Tonight?" "No, next year! Yes tonight!" "Ripper! Hey guys!" She yelled out to the others and I hopped of her back so we could catch up to them. - - - - - - - -(B) After our last activity we were called to the reck hall. I was so content, I had spent the afternoon relaxing, having fun and watching Vikki. Now I couldn't concentrate on anything. Ken was picking at a scab and Mark and Ryan were comparing scars and Charlie was trying to tell me about his new model aircraft, I wasn't the best listener. To say the least, we weren't paying any attention to what was being said. "Okay boys go get ready!" The other kids got up and tried to get out at the same time so we all got jammed at the door. Eventually we got out and I turned to Ryan. "Hey what are we getting ready for?" "Beats me?" I stopped a younger kid and asked. "A bonfire with the girls for dinner." He stated rather unenthusiastically. Inside I was bubbling. "Hey Ken, guess what were getting ready for!" I exclaimed as I joined his side. "What?" "A bonfire with the girls!" "Will there be food?" "Yeah were having dinner there!" "Ripper! Hey guys!" He called out to the others and we ran to catch up with them. "Guess what were doing?" "What?" "Having a bonfire dinner!" Smiles were shared around and a few slaps on the back. ----------end of part 3---------- ------------Part 4------- Authors note: Okay just in case you didn't get it, Lindsay thinks Bobby's name is Mark and Bobby thinks Lindsay's name is Vikki! - - - -- Bonfire - - -- (L) After dinner we all sat around the glowing fire. Due to the large number of kids we were fairly squashed so a few people sat on the ground instead of the logs. To tell you the truth I was kind of glad I was sitting on the ground, the logs looked rather rough and I wasn't in the mood for a splinter in my butt. I was leaning up against Amy's legs, covered in a rug, with a bag of marshmallows under each arm and my shoes were to the side of me so my toes could wriggle in front of the fire. My stick was already armed with two marshmallows that were smouldering in the coals. "This is the best part about bonfires!" Joan mumbled as she stuffed a smore into her mouth. I nodded in agreement as I stuffed one into my own mouth. I was enjoying myself immensely I had a nice view of the boys they were sitting about two logs to the left of us. He had the best smile! The glow of the fire was a perfect asset to the picture, it defined his features nicely, though it did make his nose look a little odd, but I knew what it really looked liked so I put it behind me. I was going to introduce myself tonight, I just had to wait till the damm leader had finished his `oh so not scary story.' "Hey Lindsay pass me the marshmallows!" Michelle whispered, but I didn't hear her I was in a daze looking at Mark. Soon I was shaken from my daze with a rather hard hit from Amy. "Hey whoa what was that for?" I hissed while rubbing my arm. "Wake up and pass the marshmallows!" "Oh sorry… yeah okay!" I passed them over slowly. "Sure Linds take your time, we're not hungry!" I just nodded and went back into my daze. That is until I got another hit from Amy. "Hey you've got the marshmallows! Why did you hit me again?" "Because you're a dork!" "What?" "Why don't you just marry him for crying out loud!" I grimaced, I didn't know my staring had been so obvious. "Oh sorry, I didn't know it was bothering you." "Have you even talked to him yet?" "No, oh well yes, just once, I asked him the time!" "Well tonight you are going to ask him to the dance!" "What, no! I was just going to introduce myself, I'm..I'm not asking him to the dance!" "Yes you are!" - -- - -- - -- - - - -- - - Okay breath. The camp leader had just finished his little bout and we now had awhile just to talk amongst ourselves, so off I went. The other girls were urging me along. Actually they were a little annoying. I just wanted to do it on my own schedule. I set myself up, fixed my hair, gave the marshmallows to the others, put the rug to the side, took a deep breath and stood. I didn't bother about my shoes it would take to long to put them on and I might loose my nerve, so off I went. I had to go around the outside of the logs so I wouldn't have to jump the millions of marshmallow sticks in the fire. The grass was cool under my feet and gave me a certain sense of strength. I was about three meters away when I felt an unbearable sharp pain in my left foot. "Aahhh ooowww!" I feel down and grabbed my foot, which was against my better judgement cause it just made it hurt more. I couldn't see because of the tears and the nausesia I felt blurred everyone's voices. The camp leader came rushing over and took my foot. For a split second I was worried about having my foot in his disgusting hands, who knew what they had been doing. I laid back and closed my eyes until I was lying on the first aid bed. "Well Miss. Dole, it seems that you have stepped on a piece of glass. (Nah really?) What it was doing there I don't know but I shall look into it! Don't worry we shall find the culprit." What? Like I care! I said to myself. Are we all sure she is a nurse and not a private investigator? I sighed "I think you'll need stiches!" She said and raised her eyebrows as if I was lucky. I felt like punching her. I had to get stitches, which meant I would have to have crutches, which meant I wouldn't be able to go to the dance! I didn't even get to introduce myself! I was fearing for the worst now, what if I never got to see him again? - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -(B) She was coming towards me! Had my staring been too obvious? Was she annoyed? She seemed to look nervous yet a little happy. I wasn't very good at reading people. I put it behind me and concentrated on what I will say if she does speak to me. Well at least I could introduce myself now. She was about three meters away when all of a sudden she cried out and fell down. Instantly I was concerned I jumped up and rushed over, but there was already a crowd around her. "Move kids, let me through!" The camp leader yelled and the kids made a path for him. I ran in behind him so I could see what was happening. She was holding her foot. I felt so bad for her, I wanted to help. I could see the blood seeping through her fingers. The camp leader took her foot and I could see the glass. I felt myself get hot. How could someone leave glass around here! Boy I tell you if I found out who it was I would put them in jail. For a split second I imagined myself, defending her in court and putting the culprit away and then her hugging me in thanks…etc…Okay so maybe I was taking it a bit too far! Soon the first aid van came and took her away. I couldn't enjoy the rest of the night I was worried. She would more than likely have to get stitches and the crutches, and then she might not be able to come to the dance. I feared for the worst, what if I never go to see her again? I never even got to introduce myself! -----------end of part 4--------- ---------Part 5 --------- - - - - - - - - - - (L) I sat on my bunk, with my legs crossed and my foot in my hands. It was two days after the bonfire and I was miserable! I couldn't do anything. I couldn't go home because my parents were in New York with my brother for his debating finals. That didn't bother me so much. I didn't want to leave. I wanted to stay for the end of camp dance. Even though it wouldn't be that great because I couldn't dance but it would be the only time I could see Mark again. "That's gonna leave one hell of a scar!" Michelle exclaimed as she stood next to my bunk and took a look at my foot. Her and the rest of the girls had just come back from their activities. "Yeah." I replied dully. I put my foot down and lied down with my hands behind my head. "So what did you all do?" I asked and turned my head in their direction. "Hut building!" "Archery!" "Rafting!" I sighed. It wasn't fair. "Hey Linds, pass down your crutches!" I passed them down and Amy grabbed them and started mucking around on them. All the girls did. They thought they were the coolest things. I guess they have never had to actually need them. I used to be one of those people that would try to hurt my foot just so I could get some. Now that I know how much they hurt your arms I despise them! "So what is everyone wearing to he dance tomorrow night?" Joan asked as she gave the crutches to Vikki. I smiled. At last, something I could participate in. Discussing clothes! - - - - - -- - - (B) There were times I wished it was okay for boys to discuss clothes. This was one of those times. As we walked out of our cabin I looked down at myself. Navy blue cords and a V-neck baby blue sweater with a Navy blue strip across the chest. I was sceptical. Did I look okay? I didn't really have much choice since I didn't bring a lot of clothes and these were about the only ones that were clean. The cool breeze calmed my nerves a bit but I was still anxious. I had been given word that `The girl who cut her foot is still here.' So it gave me hope that Vikki could be at the dance tonight. I had to be ready in case she was. We passed through the streamers that had been hung from the door at stepped into the cultural hall. Balloons and streamers were everywhere. Instead of the normal lights, there were disco lights and a mirror ball. It was quite a sight. And further more you could tell it was a youth dance for the boys were at the refreshment table eating and the girls standing around the music table, the entire dance floor was empty bar two camp leaders that were dancing and obviously in another world. Within the next ten minutes later the majority of the food was gone and slowly the boys and girls had come together. From previous observation the butterflies did as I expected and came almost last. They walked gracefully in and I stood to see if she came? I smiled and sighed, she had and she was beautiful! Even though she had her crutches she still had style. Her hair was down and flowing and she had the most gorgeous gold dress on with thin straps. This was it I was going to talk to her! I excused myself and made my way around the dance floor to where she sat. I would of liked just to walk through the dance floor straight to her but I didn't want to seem too eager. I casually walked up to the side of the group she was with and subtly made myself known. Not many people noticed, but she did! She looked up and smiled at me. My head went fuzzy. "Hi!" that one word was all I needed, I would die a happy boy. "Hi!" I returned. I was about to further the conversation when Amy joined the group after having danced with Charlie. "Hey you want to dance?" Wow how did she do that, I thought as I looked confusingly at Vikki, she had asked me to dance yet her lips didn't move at all. I felt an arm go around mine pulling me to the floor. Oh it was Amy, she had asked me and taken my smile as a yes. I looked back at Vikki and thought I saw a look of disappointment. Maybe I had just imagined it, was she really disappointed I'd gone? I started to dance with Amy. "Hmm!" I chuckled. "What?" Amy looked amused. "Nothing!" I replied and went on dancing. I had been thinking about how I had told myself that Amy would be my first dance at camp. And now that it had come true I was wishing it were someone else. Each time we would spin around my gaze would fall on Vikki, which would also cause me to stand on the foot of a not very happy Amy. I was sorry. I was trying my best. When we span around again Vikki had gone. I looked around to the food table. Nope. Then over to the music stand. Nudda. Then I spotted her walking outside, well not exactly walking, it was more like…..ur……um well using crutches. "Ouch." Oh damm I had stepped on Amy's foot again. "Sorry!" I offered sheepishly. Luckily the song ended and I don't who was more relieved. - - - - - - - - -(L) I was enjoying the conversation, well at least they hadn't gone off to dance and left me to watch. Then Mark walked up and I forgot all that had been said. "Hi!" I smiled and greeted him. "Hi!" he replied, he looked like he wanted to say more when Amy stepped up, and took no time to drag him to the dance floor. I was disappointed, I wanted him to stay and talk. As they danced I took pleasure in how bad he was at it. Serves Amy right. Unfortunately I got over my enjoyment pretty fast and soon everyone was getting asked to dance. "Hey Michelle! Want to dance?" She looked up. She was the only one left with me and I knew she wanted to so I told her to go ahead. " You sure?" "Yeah I'm gonna go get some air!" "Okay thanks!" And off she went. There were a few people sitting around just outside the door with a camp guy trying his best to look important and as though he was actually keeping us in line. I rolled my eyes and hobbled past him. "Don't go too far young lady!" He said sternly and put his arm in front of me. "Not that you can! Ha! Get it!" I gave him my evil eyes but he was too busy laughing at himself. Boy I could of slogged him one! I kept going and didn't stop until I got to the peer. I sat down at the end and dangled my non-injured foot in the water with the other leg crossed in front of me. This is what you get when something starts getting exciting, there's always something to bring you back down to reality. Brain's party - Camp Mark - A piece of glass Mark again - Amy I yawned and leant on the short stump. Tomorrow we would all be going home and things would go back to normal. I would no doubt forget about all this in a matter of months. I would get over it. I hoped. I was watching the shadows play on the water when I notice the shadow of someone walking slowly towards me. I stayed around facing the water but peeked a look back. Black shoes. Which meant it wasn't a camp leader, they all wore matching brown boots. It could be anyone, who new what creatures roamed around these woods. If it were someone from camp surely they would have just walked up. I was starting to scare myself with images of bad guys doing who knows what with me. I clutched onto one of my crutches. As the person slowly approached I swung my crutch around and knocked the person clearly off the peer. "Ahhhhh!" the culprit yelled. I stood as fast as I could and looked down at the poor helpless Mark splashing around in the lake. Oh no! Oh man why him???? Why didn't I just turn around? I'm putting it down to watching too much T.V. and being 14. - - - - - - -- - - - - (B) "Ahhhhhhh!" I yelled as I was knocked off the peer into the freezing water. This was certainly not what I expected to happen, I just wanted to finally get to talk to her. I controlled myself and swam over to the side of the peer. "I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to, you just scared me I thought that…" She offered. "It's okay I'm fine, no harm done!" I reassured her, I could tell she was truly sorry. I climbed out and knelt down. "We'll I'm sure this bruise will give me a conversation topic!" I joked to ease the tension but it just made her look more upset. "I'm really sorry!" She offered again, she looked so cute with her eyes going all puppy dog. "It's fine really, It's my fault I shouldn't of scared you, I just didn't want to interrupt you." "Oh yeah well…." She trailed off. "Um sorry about your clothes!" She half smiled and raised her eyebrows. Oh man I must have looked like the biggest dork with my hair plastered down and my clothes sagging. I started to ring out the arms of my top and shake the water off my pants. I stood back up and caught her watching. Man talk about an awkward situation. "Are you….are you cold?" I asked noticing she only had those thin straps. "Uh probably not as cold as you!" "Oh no I'm fine I came out too cool off!" "We'll at least you succeeded at that!" she joked and turned around to resume her position of sitting on the peer. I walked over and sat next to her, not too close as not to get her wet. "Um how is your foot?" I asked as I glanced at her stitches. "Kills like hell!" She smiled. "How many stitches did you have to get?" "Seven!" She replied proudly. "Huh, I remember about two years ago I was sliding into home and I cut my arm on a piece of a broken bottle and had to get fifteen! Man that hurt for ages!" I smiled as I retold the story, I beat all the other boys and their injuries with that one, no one has got more than ten stitches except me! Silence came and we both just sat there watching the ripples in the water. The wind started to pick up causing me to shiver as it hit the wet material. "We should probably head back huh? They might start to worry, or worse, get one of the camp leaders out looking." I nodded at her and jumped up to help her get to her feet, or foot, whatever. As she stood I leant down to get her crutches that were still lying on the peer. Unfortunately she bent down to get them at the same time and we collided. "Oh I'm sorry re….." I trailed off as we stood facing each other so closely. "Would... ah.. Would you mind…if I...ah" I was about to ask her if she would mind if I walked her back but I think she took it as something else as she leaned in and kissed me. Not just a peck. This was. Sigh. Oh, this was a real kiss! My first real kiss! I had always fallen out on that one with the other boys. That was why I was so proud of my 15 stitches, but now! Her lips were cool and soft and I felt like I was going to faint. Luckily a gust of wind blew and brought me back with its icy effect. She pulled back and smiled dreamily. "We should probably head back, Mark!" "Yeah!" I agreed, but I didn't want to move in case it would take away the overwhelming feeling I had or the memory of that kiss. Wait, did she call me Mark? She started to walk, hobble, whatever, back and I turned to catch up with her when I tripped and fell straight back into the lake. I mentally hit myself for being such a cluts and climbed back out, shook myself off and plopped back to the cultural hall. As I walked around the path I saw people filling out. The dance had finished. But wait I needed to talk to her again, I needed to get her phone number, find out where she came from! "Heeyyy Bobby! What happen to you man?" I turned around to face a laughing Mark. "I thought you were going for a walk not a swim!" He slapped me on the back and we started walking back to the cabin. "Yeah I uh, I fell in!" "Right well you missed out on a mighty fine dance!" He kept on babbling as I looked around the crowd. I couldn't see her. Darn, and we were going home tomorrow!!!! - - - - -- - - - -- - - - -- (L) I had never had a more amazing kiss! It put me into shock! It was the first kiss I had started and I was so glad I did. As I walked back I thought he was right behind me but when I turned around I couldn't see him, I was about to go back to look for him when the camp leader came. "Young lady! Come back this way!" The rest of the campers were filling out of the hall so he must have thought I was going the wrong way back to the girl's camp. I sighed and turned around and headed back to the hall. "Hey Linds! Where ya been?" Joan came bumbling out and put her arm around me. "Oh just walking!" "Well the dance was soo good I danced with…" I let her ramble as I looked back to see him. I couldn't. I wanted to find out where he was from, his phone number maybe, my only chance would be before we left tomorrow! - - - - - - -- - -- end of part5-------------- ---------Part 6------- I didn't sleep very well that night, I just kept on tossing and turning. The trumpet sounded and I got up to pack. I didn't need to pack much I had done most of it the night before and while doing that I found my camera. I was so sure I had brought it, but when we got there the first day I couldn't find it so I had just forgotten about it. We all got dressed then headed to the food tent for breakfast and the thankyous. All through breakfast I couldn't sit still. Thoughts of him and last night and how I was going to find him plagued my mind. "And finally we would like to thank Ranger Bob for making this camp possible!" Everyone clapped and cheered. "Yes yes hail Ranger Bob!!!" Michelle and I mutter to each other. As soon as we were excused I hobbled as fast as I could to the peer, thinking by some chance he might be still in the lake, okay, so maybe just at the peer. False hope. I took a breath and stood there taking in the scene. The sun was rising and the clouds were streaked with pink and red, there was a soft breeze that made the vines on the willow blow slightly. I wanted to just take this scene with me forever as a reminder of what had occurred here.. I pulled my camera off from around my neck and set myself up for the perfect shot. I took two just in case one didn't work. I reluctantly turned around and hobbled back to the cabin, grabbed my stuff and headed to the pick up area. "Bye Lindsay, see you next time!" All the girls hugged and we each went our separate ways until the next camp came round. As usual I was last to be picked up. My parents probably only remembered this morning, and more than likely had an argument over who would pick me up. I sat on the log and watched the kids pass by. - - - - - - - - - - -(B) I sat on the log and watched the kids pass by. I was tired from lack of sleep and blue from lack of Vikki. I had run to the peer just before breakfast to see if by some small and possibly weird chance she was there, she wasn't. I went down and sat on the peer taking in the beauty of the morning, until Charlie found me and dragged me to the food tent for breakfast and the thankyous. I kept my eyes out for her as I waited for my dad to pick me up. I was surprised he wasn't there yet, I bet if mom had let him, he would of come last night. It didn't seem fair that life had to take you on these emotional roller coasters at such a young age. I tried my best to smile as my dad drove up and waved. This was it I was going home and I might never see her again. - - - - - - - -- - (L) After sitting there for a while I started to get bored so I stood and started playing around on my crutches. As I turned around to face the other side of the pickup area I saw it. Black hair, shining in the sun. It was him. I stepped forward to walk over to him but stopped short when I saw a car, obviously his mom or dad, drive up beside him. He opened the door and swung his bag in. I had to do something. "Heyyyyy!" I yelled over to his direction, he stopped and turned around just as a big bus came and stopped right in front of me. "Hey ya stupid bus, what do you think your doing!!!!" I yelled at it and hit it with my hand. I hopped to the end of it to see if he was still there. "Nooo!" I breathed. I watched as his car drove down the road. "Damm you stupid bus!" I yelled. "Hey!" The bus driver stuck his head out the door and look disapprovingly at me. "Ah bite me!" I snarled under my breath. - - - - - - - - - - - -(B) "Heyyyyy!!" I tuned around it was her! "Bobby get in!" I ignored my dad and looked back. I was about to call out to her when a bus pulled up. Damm bus! I wanted to run over to her but my dad was calling out for me to get in the car. "Bobby! Bobby!" "Hey Bobby! - - - - -Summer of 1999--------- "Hey Bobby!" "What?" I jumped and shook myself out of the daze. "Shhh!" It was Lucy. "Sorry! What?" I asked still a bit shaken. "Quit snoring!!!" Lucy snarled and turned back around to watch…I have no idea what! I looked at my watch. Only 11:00pm. I rubbed my eyes and looked around. Eugene and Lucy were the only ones awake, they each had a big bowl of popcorn on their laps and all the other munchies had been set up around them, which meant they had been the only ones awake for a while. Helen had gone, probably to her own bed. Bec was curled up on the sofa seat and Lindsay was lying with her head on the other end of the couch and her feet resting next to my thigh. Where was Jimmy? I looked behind the couch and to the other side of the room but he was nowhere in sight. "Hey Lucy! I hissed. "What!" she asked a little annoyed. "Where did Jimmy go?" "Lindsay's bed!" She replied half watching. I raised my eyebrows. Lindsay's bed! Hmm? "Lucy, why?" "Because he has a bad back and wouldn't shut up about it so we sent him away, Lindsay was asleep all ready so we figured what she doesn't know can't hurt her!" She spat out. "Oh! Okay." I leant back and tried to figure out what they were watching. No luck something about a bug and uuuhh not quite sure what that is supposed to be. "Hey Lucy…" I was going to ask what they were watching but they both turned around and gave me looks that were a little unnerving. "Shut up Bobby!" Eugene replied and they turned back around. Right, never mess with people watching complex movies! I sighed, rather a little too loudly for Lucy's liking who turned around and gave me the evil eye. I leant back and my thoughts went back to the photo again. I had replayed the entire camp, quite well too I must say. I was very pleased with my memory. But I still couldn't figure out why Lindsay, of all people, had that photo. Could it be just a coincidence? Something told me it wasn't. I needed to look at it again but Eugene and Lucy would behead me if I stood in front of the television. I couldn't take it anymore, I was just going to have to take that risk. I rubbed my hands together to warm them up, I needed to move Lindsay's legs in order to get a clean path over the top of the couch, and since my hands were cold I didn't want to wake her up and ruin everything. I tossed my head from side to side to get the knots out of it and got myself ready. I turned and faced Lindsay to work out where I would move her too. It was tough. I would just have to hold her legs till I was able to stand up on the couch, and then put them down to the side of my feet. I started to proceed careful not to knock Lucy as I did so. I lifted her feet just slowly and about five inches high, I kept my eye on her face the whole time to make sure, if she started to wake up I would be able to abort. I kept on raising them and got to a kneeling position. Then I proceeded to stand still keeping them at a low level as not to wake her. "Bobby what the hell are you doing?" Lucy asked with a puzzled look on her face. "Umm…nothing!" I replied innocently looking down at her. "Right!" She said and left me be. But in the course of this I had shifted my gaze too Lucy and off Lindsay and as I turned back… ----------End of part6------------ ---------Part 7---------- I caught site of the bottom of her feet. A scar. A scar on her left foot. Immediately I was intrigued. I sat back down almost a little to quickly. "Bobby have you gone mental? What are you doing?" It was Lucy again only this time I didn't answer. I glanced at Lindsay. Still sleeping soundly, thank goodness! I shifted back into the position I had started out in, but with Lindsay's feet in my lap. I bent over to get a closer look. It couldn't be, no way! Maybe she just happened to also have a scar on her foot like Vikki. Lot's of people hurt they're feet in their life! This is just a coincidence. The problem was there were so many pieces to the puzzle that were all pointing to this not being a coincidence. Okay so what are the pieces to the puzzle? Lindsay has a picture of the peer at Camp Coonawarra. The peer where Vikki Rowlyn kissed me. Picture was taken the same camp I met Vikki. In fact it was taken the day we all went home, so says the date in the corner. I had kissed Vikki the night before. Vikki had cut her foot, which would now of course be a scar. Lindsay has a scar on her left foot. Okay I'm having a hard time getting my head around all of this. I had to get that photo and I had to get it now! Maybe there was another clue on or near it, maybe there were other camp photos? I jumped up pushing Lindsay half off the couch and into Eugene and Lucy, I squeezed my foot in between the middle of Lucy's knees. I tipped over a bowl of chips, stood on Eugene's shin and grabbed the photo album from the T.V. I could feel the eyes watching me. "Bobby what the heck are you doing?" It was Lindsay, woops I'd woken her, and I might get into a bit of an awkward situation with her later about looking at her album. But I was on a roll, I had to find out. "Bobby get out of the damm way!" Eugene hissed and pushed me to the side. I side shuffled over to stand next to the still sleeping Bec. "Bobby?" Lindsay asked while still trying to wake up and comprehend things. I didn't stop for her to catch up. I flipped to the page and slowed down enough to take the photo out and not ruin it or the cover in the process. I peeled it out and flipped it over. - Peer at camp - It read, then down in tthe corner in messy handwriting. Mark Layzer. I looked at Lindsay astonished. I was so frustrated and eternally confused with the whole situation. If she was Vikki then why did she have Mark's name on the back? Maybe she had had a thing with him, maybe she was just playing with me the whole camp, I was sure she at least liked me. Oh I'm so screwed up! Why did I have to look at the photos in the first place? But there was no going back now, it was too late I had seen the photo. Maybe if I had just left it at that and not gone on my little into the past adventure. But I have knowledge now that can't be ignored, what if Lindsay is Vikki…was Vikki…. I don't know, but the possibility of it being so and me not knowing sure is killing me. "Bobby, what?" She looked confused. "Vik um ...Lindsay… I need to talk to you!" I put on my best urgent expression. "What? What are you talking about Bobby, and why the hell are you looking at my photo album? Give it here!" She seemed rather cross. "Could you two please take this to another room, we're trying to watch The Mummy!" Lucy asked with an annoyed look. So that was what they were watching. Lindsay rubbed her eyes and stomped over to the kitchen. I followed with the album and photo still in hand. "Bobby, it's late, I'm tired, my neck is killing me and you're off on some Indiana Jones quest to get my photo album? What is going on?" She grabbed the album off me and plunked it down on the table. "Linds I …." "I'll just tell you now Bobby this better be good because I'm not in the mood!" She huffed and leant down on the edge of the table. I calmed myself and handed her the photo that I had still been holding. "What about it Bobby? It's a peer!" "Not just any peer, that's the peer from Camp Coonawarra!" She blinked and sat up looking more interested. "How do you know that?" She asks indifferently. "I went to that camp." She relaxed a bit and took another look at the photo then looked back at me with a bit of an annoyed look. "And the point is? So what that we went to the same camp so did millions of other kids from Massachusetts!" Okay she got me there. I was just going to take a chance and ask her about the scar! "The year that picture was taken was the same camp that you cut your foot wasn't it!" Oooh I hope I was right, at least it would clear up things! What if it was true? Was I ready for the answer? I look her uncertainly. Her eyes were wide and questioning. "How the hell did you know that?" Whoa!! Hold up. I sighed and step back to lean against the kitchen bench to collect my thoughts. "Bobby. How did you know that?" She asks again. I stand up and sit down at the table and urge her to sit as well. I get into control mode. "The reason I know that is… that was the year I went to that camp…" She begins to say something but I stop her, the last thing I need is for my thoughts to be interrupted. - - - - - - - - - -(L) - - - - - - Sometimes I could just throttle Bobby! Then again sometimes I could……….well quite a number of things but I think we'll just leave it at love him. But when it's three in the morning, about four hours after I finally made it to sleep, on the quite painful couch no less, and bobby is doing gymnastics with himself and my legs I can get quite peeved! I pull myself up off the couch and stomp over to the cold kitchen with Bobby in tow. "Bobby, it's late, I'm tired, my neck is killing me and you're off on some Indiana Jones quest to get my photo album? What is going on?" I seethe and grab the album off him. He looks perplexed, but tries his hand anyway. "Linds I ……" Oh before he gets on some lengthy story I should give a bit of a warning. "I'll just tell you now Bobby, this better be good because I'm not in the mood!" I huff and lean down on the edge of the table to show him I'm serious. He takes a breath and hands me a photo that he had been holding. I look at it and vaguely remember something about a camp. He has absolutely confused me as to why this was worth all the interruption. "What about it Bobby? It's a peer!" "Not just any peer, that's the peer from Camp Coonawarra!" I blink. Those were some cool camps, but why did Bobby care if I went there? Hang on how did he know what camp it was from?' I act as if I don't care but I have to admit he has me interested. "I went to that camp." Really? Huh well how about that, of course I remember when Helen and I found out we had both gone to that camp one- year when we were about eight. In fact I have met heaps of people who went to that camp, so I voice my thoughts. "And the point is? So what that we went to the same camp so did millions of other kids from Massachusetts!" I glare at him as a sign of my annoyance at being bothered with such a little fact. But next question totally blows me away. "The year that picture was taken was the same camp that you cut your foot wasn't it!" I feel me eyes pop out of their sockets and my chin hit the floor. This was getting creepy. "How the hell did you know that?" I ask him unsurely. He looks shocked. That's not right I was the one that is supposed to be shocked not him. He walks back and leans on the bench. It looks as if he isn't going to answer my question any time soon so ask again. "Bobby. How did you know that?" A look of determination crosses his eyes and he stride's to the table and sits waving his arm as if to motion for me to sit as well. I do and he takes control. "The reason I know that is…that was the year I went to that camp…" Yea tell me something I don't know, I think sarcastically. I'm about to tell him this but he puts his hand up to stop me and continues. "Now I'll start at the beginning…. Okay, I was looking at your album, now I know I shouldn't of and I'm sorry, but we will come to that matter after." I shake my head and huff. "Okay so I came across that photo.." He points to the photo of the peer that's now lying on the table. "And it gave me a major da ja-vou, then everyone came, but I couldn't work out where the snapshot was from, so I …." Oh please I'm going to be here for a long time. I cross my arms on the table and lay my head on them. He stops. "I'm listening Bobby go on!" I mumble from my sleeve. "No Linds I need your attention!" I sigh and sit up with my chin resting on my hand. "Bobby.." I whine. "I can't stay awake, can't you just get to the point, if there is one!" I say with a hint of sarcasm. "Okay let me put this as simply as I can…….." I nod to urge him to continue. "1984 I went to camp Coonawarra and so did you, and I had this crush on a girl there, from the butterfly camp, named Vikki Rowlyn …." "Ha ha.." I laugh. "You had a crush on Vikki?????" I keep laughing "Linds, please listen…." I stop laughing but keep up a small chuckle. "Okay, the thing is, she…um …she was my…." "Oh just spit it out Bobby!" "Okay she was my first kiss!" I raise my eyebrows at this information. "And they place where we kissed was on that peer.." He starts to speed up as if he is embarrassed. "So when I realised where the picture was of I was curious as to why you had a picture of where I had my first kiss and…" "Bobby, Bobby, slow down." - ---- - - - - - - (B) "Bobby, Bobby, slow down." I take a deep breath and the touch of her hand patting my arm calms me a bit. This was turning into a big mess and I just wanted to straighten everything out. I couldn't help it, once I had started, if I didn't figure this out I wouldn't be able to get it off my mind and stop it nagging me, so I continue. "So I wanted to look at the photo again but everyone was watching TV and, well, yea so anyway it got to much so I was trying to get to the photo album to look at the photo again, and as I was in the process of doing this I noticed a scar on your foot…." I say this while looking at my fiddling hands but when I finish I look at her gage a reaction, she seems confused, understandable. "The thing is, is Vikki had cut her foot that camp on her left foot…" "No she didn't!" She protests and I look apprehensive. "That's what has got me confused, I remember when we were on the peer she called me Mark…" Lindsay gasps but I continue because we are so close to the truth. "So when I looked at the back of the photo…" "It said Mark!" She finishes. I smile I think we are getting somewhere. "So what I think happened was, when I asked Mark what the girl I had the crush on's name was, he gave me Vikki's name instead." She looks off in a daze and I wait. "Bobby, …. That was how you knew I cut my foot, your MARK!!!!!" She implores, a little too loudly as we get groans of annoyance from the lounge. I beam, this is amazing! What are the chances? "So I thought your name was Vikki and you thought my name was Mark!" I shake my head in amazement! "Wow!" she implores! We sit there in silence for a little while, just thinking about the fact that we had kissed all those years ago and never knew! - - - - - - -- - (L) I'm totally blown away! Looking at it now, I can't believe it took us so long to figure it out! I can see the resemblances of the boy I thought was Mark and the Bobby I know now! It makes me giddy to know that I had the chance to see him as a teenager, even if it was for such a short time. I think back remembering the kiss! He was the first person I had actually kissed, sure I had been kissed before but never had started the kiss myself! I laugh thinking about how good a kisser he has become and how inexperienced he was then! "So…" I say trailing off. "Yeah…" He replies. "You know what Linds…. This makes you my first kiss!" He smiles to himself. I raise my eyebrows, this surprises me. He was so good looking as a kid I assumed I was just another notch on his belt. He looks at me when I don't answer with almost a hurt look, I wonder what I had done. "So I wasn't yours?" he asks like a little boy. I try broaching the subject carefully. "Well actually…. no." I say softly. "But…" I say quickly, "You were the first person that I started the kiss!" I say trying to bring him up a bit. "Hey you didn't kiss me! I kissed you!" He agues. I give him a `you wish' look. "I did Bobby, it may have been years ago but I remember it quite well!" "You do?" he asks almost as if testing my memory. "Yes, I remember you falling in the lake and looking like a drowned rat!" I state with a grin. Of course that was my fault but I wasn't gonna bring that up. "Fine then…still, wow!" he says smiling shaking his head. - - - - - - - - (B) "Yes, I remember you falling in the lake and looking like a drowned rat!" She says a little too pleased, I haven't forgotten how that had happened, but I let it go. "Fine then…still, wow!" I smile shaking my head. "Yeah, I know, people have always said I'm a good kisser!" she nods her head and sighs. "Linds…" I give her a warning look! Man, she so gorgeous! Actually I'm not surprised that I wasn't her first kiss, I think back to how amazing she looked as a teenager. Some things don't change. I wonder if this whole, she being my first kiss, has anything to do with the bond I feel with her, maybe my heart knew who she was all along and that's why I'm crazy about her? I'm pulled out of my thoughts by the clock hanging on the wall chiming. I look up and see that it's midnight and suddenly I start to feel very tired. I look at Lindsay who seems to be off with fairies, but I see the dark rings under her eyes and can tell she must also be exhausted. As if reading my thoughts she yawns and rubs her eyes. "Well…I guess I'm gonna…you know…try and.." "Get some sleep!" I finish and she nods her head. "Mark…ha!" she laughs still amazed. She starts heading for her room when I remember. "Uh Linds…" she stops and turns around. "Yeah?" "Um, Jimmy's in your room…"I shrug as if to say sorry. "What? Why?" she asks looking a little worried. "Well he was complaining of a bad back so Lucy and Eugene told him to go in there, they thought you wouldn't find out so you wouldn't mind." As if on cue the culprits let out a bout of laughter. At first I thought they were laughing at the fact that Jimmy had taken Lindsay's bed but when I turned to glare at them I realised that they had put in a comedy and were merely laughing at the movie. ---------(L)-------- I wasn't too thrilled about Jimmy being in my room, I still hadn't forgotten his dreams about me. Also it left me with nowhere to get some sleep. While thinking about this I also realised Bobby was left bed less. Sure we could share the couch but my neck was still aching from lying on it before, plus we were pretty squashed and that was with Bobby sitting up. Of course we've shared a couch many a times before but I guess we're not really at that stage of our relationship at the moment. "Um…. well, okay…" I wasn't getting any ideas. "Well I think I'll head home, you can have the couch." He offered. Just then there was another loud bout of laughter from Lucy and Eugene. "How many videos do they wanna watch?" I ask incredulously. "I don't know, maybe they're trying to break the record." He offers. - - - - - - -(B) - - - - -- "And with no coffee too!" She says shaking her head. I laugh, she has always had to have her coffee to get her through. I start to gather my things, my shoes that were sitting next to the couch (I manoeuvred carefully around the movie goers) and my jacket that was hanging by the door. I feel sorry for her, she's stuck on the couch with two rather loud laughers. She looks distressed around at the mess we had left and I would offer to help clean up but I'd be gone by the time for that happened. I felt a sudden urge to take her away from all this chaos. "Uh…Linds?" I start unsurely. She's behind the counter in the kitchen cleaning up cups and bowls, she looks up when I speak. "Leave them." I say simply and she shakes her head. "Nah might as well get them done now." She gets back to her work. "Linds…. I kissed you!" I give her a grin and make my way around to her. "Yeah, keep telling yourself that!" she smiles at me and I can see the teenager in her again. "Come on, you can crash at my place, you'll never get any sleep here!" I offer and pray silently that she will accept. She looks as though she is mulling it over, I feel hopeful. -----end of 7------- ----Part 8---------- ---- - -- ---- (L) - -- --- I think over his offer for a while. "No, I don't think so. Thanks anyway Bobby." He seems crestfallen, he's so adorable. The reason I turn him down is I have a better idea! Since it's summer and there are no clouds in the sky…. "Bobby, you wanna sleep outside?" I ask. He looks a bit surprised and stands there mulling it over a bit. "I just thought …well it's not cold out there and we could just put down some lilo's…" I see a twinkle come to his eyes as he starts to nod his head. "Yeah that would be fun!" I head off to the cupboard where Helen and I keep our outside gear, not that we camp much anymore but sometimes during summer holidays in college, we would go for hikes with some friends. I pull out the two lilos and two sleeping bags and hand them to Bobby who is standing behind me. He has a bit of trouble carrying them all but he gets them out side. I creep into my room and cringe a little at the sleeping Jimmy. I stay as far away from him as I can and make a mental note to wash the sheets before tomorrow night. I grab the free pillow and head off to Helens room to steal one of hers. I have to admit Helen s room can be quite scary at night. She is such a slob, I never know what I'm stepping on. I giggle at her sleeping form. Arms and legs stretched out and covers half off the bed. When I reach the french doors that head out to the little courtyard, Bobby has already set it all up. The two lilo's covered with the sleeping bags are spread out next to each other on the small grass patch, but Bobby is nowhere in sight. I go and give each lilo a pillow and turn back around in search of Bobby. However, just as I do he appears in the doorway now decked out in shorts and a t-shirt, carrying a bowl of lollies. "Thought it was time for jammies, I didn't want to further crease my clothes." I give him a smile. I had changed into my PJ's ages ago. I move first and choose the lilo with Helen's sleeping bag, I didn't want to subject him to the little surprises Helen often leaves in there. She tends to use it as an extra carrying case, and we have often lost items, only to find them when we go camping again. "Here, I thought we should save Lucy and Eugene's teeth from further destruction!" He jokes and hands me the bowl, filled with an arraignment of goodies and chocolates. He snuggles down in the sleeping bag and puts his hands behind his head. I place the bowl between us so we both can reach. But truth be told I'd rather have nothing between us. I lie back down and copy his position. Contented we gaze at the stars. I laugh as my foot hits something and reach inside the sleeping bag to retrieve the item, but before I can find it, I feel a cool gooey liquid slide over my foot. "Oh Helen!!!" I whine. "What? What's wrong?" Bobby asks leaning up on his arm. "I can't believe her!" I mutter to myself as I wriggle out of the bag. I glance over at Bobby and see the confusion written on his face. So I let him in on what's happening. "This is Helen's sleeping bag, and it seems to be a bit protective of its owner!" "What? English please?" He laughs and I join him when I realise what I just said gave him no idea. "Sorry, Helen often leaves things in here and it seems that she left something, something I'm a little afraid to find out what." He scrunches his nose. Then put on a brave face. "Well I'm here to save you if it attacks!" I give him a chuckle and proceed to explore. I reach down and pull out a soaked plastic bag. The liquid has the resemblance to avocado runny dip. Then it hits me, an intense putrid smell. Apparently, it hits Bobby too, as he pulls his t-shirt up over his nose. "Man Lindsay, what the hell is that?" He gives me a horrified look. -------------( B )--------------- I was a little worried when she turned me down, but thrilled when she wanted me to stay, at least she wasn't totally turning me down! I get the feeling she wanted to stay here because the others are inside and that way she can keep herself in check. Okay so maybe that's what I was hoping. Hoping that she would have need to keep herself in check. Meaning, she, somewhere in that head/heart of hers had reason not to. She seems like she would like to go forward but she can't. I would defiantly like to change that. This whole night has been another step...in the right direction I hope. It's funny how such little things like a photo can flick your life a little to the left or the right. I'm glad we found out about this little moment in our lives...if for no other reason than, the fact that if I had stayed on the couch, that's where I might still be now and not out under the stars with my butterfly. (Okay so the nicknames a bit corny, but she was part of the "butterfly group" at camp, I thought I keep a tradition.) Everything was going so well, and then…Somehow Helen's done it again. As much as sitting here in the middle of the night holding my t-shirt to my nose appeals to me…something really should be done. I get up and shimmy the Sleeping bag down, then step over to kneel next to Lindsay. "Here let's unzip it!" I offer and she nods going for the zip. As we open the bag up the smell becomes worse and we both cringe. "How long has this been in here?" She asks and I counter with, "I think the question is, what the hell is it?" Once completely open, we pull the bag over to the very far end of the yard where the hose is situated. "Here you hold the bag while I hose it down." She unwinds some of the hose and turns it on. We wait, and wait, for the water to come. She looks around muttering to herself about things being simple in the olden days. "Ah huh!" She exclaims as she flicks a switch. The water comes rushing out and straight at me. "Whoa Linds!" I cry out. She looks up and quickly points the hose in a different direction. "Oh I'm so sorry Bobby!" She apologises but I think the giggle forming on her delicious lips prevents me form believing she's really sorry. "Hmm, I think your teenage subconscious has been awaken and it has a thing about drenching me with water! Don't think I haven't forgotten being whacked into the lake! " ---------(L)---------- I laugh at his comment, but truthfully, I don't think it's just my teenage subconscious at work here. Bobby drenched in water? Who in their right mind wouldn't make that their goal? -----------(B)--------------- "Did I get you much?" She asks, her words breaking at the end as she can't control the laughter anymore. "Well I'm glad your having fun with this funniest home video moment!" I try to look angry but she's got such a cute laugh, I had to admit I was enjoying it immensely! She looks up almost disappointed. "Gosh darn! Where's a video camera when you need one!" She says then continues to giggle. "No seriously Bobby, I am sorry!" She offers. "Don't worry about it, it's just a bit of water." I wring out the bottom of my t-shirt. "A bit of water your dripping like a waterfall!" She starts chuckling again. It's funny how such little things amuse those with brilliant minds. She starts to come over to me but I back away. "Linds keep that hose away!" I warn. She backs away and concentrates on the hose. "Okay lets get this clean then we can deal with me." I say and go to hold up the sleeping bag. We get most of the goo off and Lindsay cleans her feet while I hold he hose. I had to resist the urge to get her back with a splash of water. I look down at my soaked t-shirt and wonder what I'm gonna do. "You don't happen to have a stash of guys shirts do you?" I ask and she smiles. "Well, I know I don't… but you never know what Helen keeps from past relationships!" We laugh and throw the now wet sleeping bag over the fence to dry. ------------(L)----------- "You know Bobby, I'm sure you would look dashing in one of my tops!" I give him a grin and I'm surprised to see a smug look come across his face. "Well unfortunately, that wouldn't do, I mean look at me I'm just rippling with muscles…I'm just too brawn for the likes of your clothes!" I suddenly felt sorry for him. The poor guy tries so hard to be funny, but smug is not his strongest way of doing it. "You know what scared me the most about that comment Bobby?" I ask. He pauses and thinks for a second before shrugging. "No, what?" "That you said unfortunately!" He gives me a slight shove on my shoulder and walks back to the fence then proceeds to take off his wet shirt. I take in a sharp breath as I remember just how brawn he is. He hangs his t-shirt over the fence next to the sleeping bag then walks back over to the lilo's. "Well," He says looking at his watch, "It's almost one o'clock, so lets try and get some sleep…we can open the sleeping bag out and share it." He looks hopeful. I'm a little hesitant, I'm mean the others are inside and hear I am with a shirtless Bobby about to share… well not exactly a bed, but close enough. Bobby, on the other hand, seems set that this is the only way things are gonna go. He's already pushed the lilo's together and proceeded to open out the sleeping bag. I shrug away my doubts, after all it's late and I was the one that got us in this predicament. Sidenote, like that word… predicament, must use that in a conversation sometime. And it's not as I'm doing anything wrong, worse comes to worse, I'll get to yell at Eleanor again. So with that in mind I pick up the lolly bowl, take a breath and… ------end 0f 8------ ----Part 9 ---------- Jump a mile as a flying pillow hits me square in the face. I look down to see Bobby hold his hand up to his chin as a fake microphone. "I'm sorry Ladies and Gentlemen, due to mechanical problems, communication with Lindsay Dole will be delayed until further notice!" He grins and ducks his head as I pick up the pillow and piff it at him. "Or until she get's hit with a pillow!" I crack back. He plunks the pillow back down for me and I clime under the covers, plunking the bowl down on his stomach. "Eooouff! Thanks Linds!" His gives me a weary look. "Oh poor Robert's getting a lil' old!" I laugh and pat his cheek. I go to pull my hand back but his hand captures mind and presses it closer to his face. "Linds…" He starts, and then stops when I let out a soft laugh. "What?" "I like it when you call me that!" I smile at him and he grins back. "Yeah it's amazing what getting called your own name can do to you!" "Bobby…." He cuts me off. "You know cos I had this aunty that couldn't for the life off her…." "Bobby..." I start again and this time he stops and lets me continue. He lowers our hands but keeps mine in his. I wasn't sure, now that I had his attention, I wanted it. As I looked into his eyes, I could imagine what I wanted. I could imagine he would never leave me again for a best friend. I could imagine he would change for me and not work so much, that he could be happy with such a flawed person like me. I knew he cared, I knew he would keep me safe. He had been giving me signs lately that I had been purposely ignoring, I'm not that thick, that I couldn't see him getting closer. But emotionally I couldn't acknowledge it. -------------(B)----------- "Bobby…" She says again and this time I stop and wait for her. I feel her eyes burn mine as I rove her face. She seemed to be struggling with something. I know I was moving things forward with keeping her hand in mine, but something had to be done. I was getting dizzy with all this tension between us all the time. I can see she isn't going to speak soon and patience isn't something I'm good at. "Lindsay.." I start and wait to see if it's okay to continue, when she nods I do. Unfortunatly, I'm struck with a case of, might aswell go all the way, syndrome. Oh you haven't heard of that? Well not everyone can be well educated like me. And so I go all the way. "I just can't help believing, when you smile so soft and gentle..." I start to sing softly, pulling a bit of a face to keep the mood light. Well I'm sorry if you didn't think that was all the way, but trust me, there is something to be said about a Donnell singing, to someone else no less. ------------(L)------------- He's singing! I can't believe it, and if I recall correctly it's Elvis. I can't help but chuckle. He really is such a dork. He does a pretty good Elvis though. How the hell this night turned out with him signing, I'll never know. I'm not really sure how to take it. Is he just mucking around? Or is he trying to show how he feels, something he has never been good at. Hey maybe singing is his new found way of expressing emotions. Not something he really should use in public. I can just see the look on the judge and jury's face when he try' his new method to convey his clients innocence. ---------(B)---------- She turns her head to hide her obvious laughing. As I begin the next line I gently pull her face back to face me. "With a trace of misty morning, and a promise of tomorrow in your eyes!" Yes I know I'm quite the weird one, but I had been at my dads earlier that day, and in my short time I was there, this song was playing so it was the only one that came to mind that was fitting to sing. Yes I hear you ask, why sing at all? Well I thought since we were under the stars and I wanted to capture her heart, I could serenade her. She doesn't seem to mind so I continue. "I just can't help believing when your lying close beside me, and my heart beats with the rhythm of your sighs!" I must say I can pull off a pretty good Elvis without sounding too silly. She gives me a big grin as I pull out a few small Elvis moves. The problem is though, while she is grinning I concentrate on filling my mind with that picture and forget the next line. "Wow Bobby a whole three lines! I'm proud!" She jokes after a while and I pull a hurt look. She lies down and puts her hand under her head. This woman is driving me crazy, why can't things be simple? Why can't I just go `Lindsay will you go out with me?' then she goes `Why Bobby, what a wonderful idea!' -------------(L)---------- Can I kill myself now please? I've done it again, I've pushed him away. Here he is singing Elvis to me and I joke with him about it. Why do I get the feeling I'm not going to get much sleep? We'll probably banter back and forth all night, flirting out of control until one of us has a stroke or we end up on top of each other. As my mother always said, `why delay the inevitable?' I shake my head at how silly our situation is. Surly we're at a place where we can at least try and see if it will work, if for no other reason than to help move our lives along. My mother also used to say, `don't waist your days worth of makeup doing nothing worthwhile during the day.' "Bobby..." I look over at him, he's settling himself down staring at the stars. "Yeah?" he asks. "I kissed you!" I smile and he gives me a chuckle. "Where never going to agree on that!" "That's because you live in denial!" I tease and he gives me a light elbow shove then goes serious. "Lindsay, do you really think I live in denial?" I give him a quizzical stare before answering. "Bobby I was just teasing, you now that!" "Lindsay I want to apologise to you about not treating you as good as I should have a lot of the time." What the hell? "Bobby, what do you mean, you haven't…" I'm confused about where this came from. "No, Linds…I've been blind for a long time now!" "Really?" I asked in feigned seriousness. "Cos I never even noticed, I mean you hide not being able see extremely well!" "Lindsay please, help me out, this isn't easy!" I know I shouldn't, I can't help but push him a little further, I mean he's giving me great lines here. "Bobby, I'll try but I've never helped a blind person before!" I laugh and move out of hitting range. Luckily, he laughs as well, so I know he isn't angry, annoyed yes, angry no. "Your impossible! You know that!" "I've been told!" I say tilting my head and giving him a smug smile. "I think exhaustion has hit you big time!" He says shaking his head. "No I think it's just the night air!" I say and move back slowly to my past position, watching for signs of attack. When I see that he has no intention of paying me back for my past comments, I lie down next to him watching his face as he watches the sky. Slowly my hand reaches down and finds his lying in between us, I take his hand still watching his face to see if he is okay with it and intertwine our fingers. I tense up as he begins to turn his head towards me. But what do I see there when he does? A smile. Yea! I cheer to myself, as I grin back at him. -------------(B)-------------- `Heaven, I'm in heaven!' I sing in my head as the world starts to mellow. I think that I've figured something out. Lindsay is the most comfortable company I've ever had in my life. We just seem to click, I'm mean here I am pretty much making a fool of myself and she seems to be enjoying it. Who else could I make advances towards, sing, joke with and still have them lie next to me. Then again, who could I make advances towards, sing and joke with and `only' have them `lie' next to me. Most women would take that as, `I want you now'. Now that I think about it, I'm having a heck of a time trying to make her want me. And just when I think my attempts have failed for one more night, I feel her take my hand, and when I look over at her she smiling. This has given me all the confidence I need to take it one step further. I roll over slightly and….. Just as I'm about to make my intentions known the French doors opens and we jump back a mile, well as far as we could. And who is it that has interrupted us? None other than… -----end of 9----- Hope you enjoyed it so far! feedback--you know the drill staci Title: Snapshots Author: Staci Disclaimer: These characters are not mine, no indeed! ------------------------------------------------------------------- "Lucy!" I growl loudly. "What? Jees, sorry to interrupt your little love nest, it's not my fault the phone rang, and you know me, it's my job to answer phones!" I look over at Lindsay; I can tell she's finding this just as awkward as I am. "Who is on the phone?" Lindsay asks, standing up, but Lucy doesn't hear her she's too preoccupied staring at me. "What?" I ask feeling self-conscious. She just gives me a smile and tells me "Nothing!" "Lucy, who is the phone for?" Lindsay asks again, this time getting Lucy's attention by standing right in front of her. "Oh right, it's for you, some druggo client needing a saviour!" Lindsay thanks her and take the phone call in he kitchen, leaving a curious Lucy to ask me the questions. "So, bit hot out here huh?" She asks referring to my bare chest. "Um… the hose got me… I mean Lindsay sprayed me…umm, accidentally…" I was in a bit of trouble. "Sure!" She replied smugly " And I suppose you and Lindsay accidentally just fell under the one sleeping bag, and you just accidentally fell on top of her!" Man, that smug smile was irritating! Little miss, thinks she knows it all! "I wasn't ON her… we were just…" "Talking?" She asks incredulously. "Yes!" I say walking towards the doors; I couldn't take this third degree any more. Just as I make it inside Lindsay hangs up the phone. "What's going on?" I ask, she has on her tense, pained look, and I know things can't be good. ------------(L)------------ Seriously, someone up there has it in for me. I try to recall any relatives or past acquaintances that have died that may have a vendetta against me. Maybe it was my fourth grade teacher. Surely, she was dead by now, considering there were bets going round the school for when she would finally die. I know, for a fact that she was out to get me, ever since the first time I met her. Always blowing all the things I did, that I shouldn't have, out of proportion. I tell you, my parents saw a lot of her the year I unfortunately landed her as my teacher. She wouldn't have liked how far I had gotten in the education world. Harvard? Please she'd have a heart attack just at the prospect. Yes, I conceded. It was old Mrs. Kealy who was behind all of this. So here I was waiting for Lucy to answer me, but she was getting her mind full of the image of Bobby without a shirt. She is going to be insufferable back at work. Fifty bucks says the rest of the firm will know about this before the weekend is over! The only way I'm going to get her attention is to block her view so I walk over and stand right in front of her. "Lucy, who is the phone for?" I see her eyes revert to me as she comes out of her daze. "Oh right, it's for you, some druggo client needing a saviour!" Great, just great! I stomp my way into the kitchen receiving a quizzical look from Eugene, who is still seated in the same spot since her arrived. I know someone's butt's asleep! I reach for the phone that is sitting on the counter. "Lindsay Dole." I say trying my best not to grumble. "Hey Lindsay, long time no see huh, or talk, whatever!" I could tell immediately who it was by the sound of his voice. "Benny, the last person I expected!" I hadn't seen him since the whole Teresa Cortez incident. I was actually surprised to hear from him, unfortunately though, I knew that meant it involved drugs. "Listen Lindsay, I'm sorry about the time but I'm in some trouble here!" "Your with the police?" I ask, pretty much already knowing the answer. "Yeah, look I need you to get down here and sort all this out, I swear I'm so innocent you could give me a halo!" I roll my eyes knowing that will never happen in this lifetime. "Okay, I'm on my way!" "Thanks so much!" And with that he hung up. I slam the phone back on the wall. I turn around to find a curious Bobby walking in. "What's going on?" He asks. Lucy has followed him in and makes herself apart of the conversation. "That's my question!" She raises her eyebrows and gives me a wink. "Lucy!" Bobby and I growl at the same time. "Fine, I'll leave it for now, but…" Bobby cuts her off with a shove in the back. "Go watch your movie!" He turns back to me with the original question in his eyes. "Benny Small, of all people." He looks surprised. "Wow haven't heard that name for awhile!" "Yeah I know, anyway, he's at the police station, needs me to come down." "Oh well I'll come with you!" He suggests, I was glad. I didn't really feel like going to the police station by myself at this time of the night. "Okay, I'll just go get changed," I stop noticing Bobby's clothes condition. "We'll have to stop at your place too." I say pointing at him. He looks down and sees why. I grab some work clothes from my room, careful not to wake Jimmy, and head into the bathroom. I ponder to myself as I button up my shirt. This has been one strange evening. I only get a night this weird about three times's a year, which is a feat in itself considering my work and friends. My minds wonders onto what Benny's done now. I wonder what he has been doing ever since killing John Aikemen? It's seems like only yesterday. I finish up, walk down the hall to find Bobby, jacket on, and bag in hand, filling Eugene in on what's happening. "I don't know what time we'll finish up so I guess I see you on Monday!" He glances over at me and sees that I'm ready to go. "Okay se ya Bobby, se ya Linds!" Eugene pulls himself up onto the couch and presses play again. So, me and Bobby are off. The apartment that Helen and I had moved into just happened to be a lot closer to Bobby's apartment than where I was living before. Helen swears I was behind it but I insist it's just a coincidence. He's less than five minute away so stopping off there first isn't much of a detour. He runs up to change while I stay in the car, I myself wouldn't have minded him staying just as he was, but common sense told me it wouldn't give him the respect a lawyer should have. ---------------(B)------------- After listening to Benny's predicament Lindsay insisted that she could get rid of it right away. I wasn't so sure but she seemed determined to get everything over with quickly, not even the law could get in her way. I swear, when she's wants it, amendments and passages in the constitution can just appear to ruin whatever case the prosecution has. I've seen it happen. It's like she has some sort of pact with the civil rights, she does something for them and they give her ways to get the cases kicked. So he was sent to arraignment, where bail was set at $3000 and a probable cause hearing was awarded to us. We warily made our way to Lindsay's car. "Bobby, I'm so tired…I don't think I could…" I cut in knowing what she was going to ask. "I'll drive." I stated and took the keys from her. I smiled as I settle behind the wheel. Lindsay's car was so great to drive, though I had only been aloud once before. She had received it from her dad one year when he was on a short, `make up for the all the past wrongs' faze. It was red, had comfy, black leather seats and could accelerate from 0 to 100 in a matter of seconds, not that I had been aloud to try that out, but about a week after she received it and after an exciting not guilty, not to mention a bit of pleading from me, Lindsay did the honours. Ever since that ride, I dreamed of being behind the wheel. Lindsay slid into the passengers seat and rested her eyes. We travelled in silence, mainly because Lindsay was on her way to dreamland, but also because I was too enthralled at the different features of the car. I pulled into the garage of my apartment building and parked. Pocketing the keys, I hopped out and went around to Lindsay's door. She was Sleeping soundly and I hated having to wake her. "Linds..." I nudge her shoulder and she starts to stir. Rubbing her eyes, she looks around until her gaze falls on me. "We're at my building." I clarify. "Oh...Okay." She says pulling herself up and running her hands through her hair. She gets out and heads for the drivers seat while searching her pockets. "Bobby...keys?" she asks. I shake my head almost embarrassed and pull her keys out of my pocket. "Sorry!" I offer and place them in her hand. She lets out a yawn and I fear for her safety driving on the roads. "You sure your okay to drive?" I ask while suppressing a yawn of my own. She gives me a smile and a nod and proceeds to get into the car. We give our goodbyes and thankyous then off we go. As I reach my door, I feel my eyelids getting heavy. It doesn't even occur to me to get my keys to open the door I just turn the handle, and am surprised to find it unlocked. I figure in my eagerness to get to Lindsay's and Helen's tonight I forgot to lock it. I close the door heavily behind me and make sure to lock it this time. I shrug off my coat and fling it away. I smile at my muscle strength when it lands on the other side of the room, and make my way into the kitchen. I desperately need some sleep and at the moment I am quite restless so I inquire the help of medicine. I walk drearily to the lounge and the couch looks as good a place as any to lie down. Soon, I enter the peacefulness of sleep. ---------------(L)------------------- I rub my eyes once again and take a deep breath in attempt to wake myself up. I pick up the keys from my lap and go to put them in the ignition. I jiggle it around trying to get it into the slot, no luck. I pull them back and take a closer look at the key, that's when I realise, it's not the key to my car. Bobby had given me his keys and he had taken mine! I growl, I know, not very lady-like but I just wanted to be home asleep. I get out of my car and lock the doors from the inside them slam the door closed for good measure. Stomping up two flights of stairs sure does wake you up. I knock on his door and wait, then I wait some more. Then I walk off set, grab a cup of coffee from the assistant guy, walk back onto the set and wait some more. When I clench my hands in frustration I realise I'm holding his keys. I pull them out and unlock the door. Any hard feelings melt away when I see his adorable butt sticking up off the couch. He didn't even make it to lying down, instead he is half kneeling and half lying on his chest. I step in quietly and gently close the door. "Bobby?" I squat down beside him and tap his arm… nothing. "Bobby!" I try again a little louder. Still he doesn't move. "Bobby!" I shake him and he falls onto his side. Panicking, I check his pulse. He's alive. I get up and jog to the phone in the kitchen where I find a bottle of sleep-easy pills. I read the label that informs me there should be 20 tablets. I pull off the lid, pour them out and count 18. Well two isn't going to do any damage, just put him in a deep sleep. I realise I'm going to have to look for my keys myself. I plonk his down on the counter so I don't take them with me when I'm finished. I survey his lounge looking for his coat, thinking rationally that they must be in the pocket. It's not on the cost rack, the back of the couch or anywhere for that matter. I search the whole apartment, knowing it well from past experiences. I sigh tiredly and sit on the coffee table facing the slumbering Bobby. "Well looks like I'll be spending the night… too bad it's not under the circumstances I wished my next stay here would be." I let out a small laugh when I realise I could say anything to him and he would never know. "Okay you sexy thang, let's get you to your bed." I smile and go to move him, because if he stay's in that position he is going to be very sore in the morning. I try in vain to lift him, resulting in him falling over my shoulder. "Whoa buddy!" I struggle under his weight, not that he weighs much but when he's not supporting himself, that's when the trouble starts. "Mhforger ergo?" He mumbles incoherently. "Couldn't have said it better myself Bobby!" I try again to get a better grip on him. Suddenly I fall back with him firmly pinned on top of me, only with him facing up as well. I groan and inelegantly slid out from underneath him. He mumbles again. As I stand up my eyes travel over his dead to world body. As I reach that,… you know `that' area. I turn my head away quickly, embarrassed. "Oh Bobby, didn't you ever tell your pants it's rude to point?" I didn't even want to know what dream he was experiencing! I considered just leaving him there but my compassionate nature came out and I ended up practically dragging him to his bed. After quite a good effort on my part he was on him bed. I removed his tie and shoes but reframed myself from going any further. I closed the blinds as the sun makes its entrance on this new day. I yawn and grab a pillow from his bed then set myself up on the couch. It doesn't take long for sleep to overcome my tired mind and body. ----------------(B)---------------- I wake refreshed from a good night's sleep, but then look around me t realise I'm on my bed still in my clothes from last night. How did I get here? I still remember choosing the couch as my resting spot. I drag myself up, it being Saturday I didn't mind that I had slept in until lunchtime. I forgo a shower as I had had one after work yesterday and decided on having one later that night. I change into fresh clothes, shorts and a sleeveless t-shirt. I stop abruptly as I find a sleeping figure on my couch, where I should have been. Knowing her body as well as I do I know right away that it's Lindsay. She's still in her skirt and shirt. I walk softly over to her, she's facing the back of the couch so I rub her back gently. "Lindsay." I say simply and that's all it take to wake her, though she is still half asleep. She rolls over and I'm taken back a bit when I see that during that night the buttons on her shirt couldn't hold on. She's so gorgeous. And this time with just the two of us and no one else around, my courage is in full swing. Might as well see if we could make it work. She moans and stretches. That's about all I can take. Them warmth radiating off her almost has me in a sweat. I lean in and wipe some stray hairs from her face. She opens he eyes but all I can do is smile. "Didn't make it home?" I state rather than ask. She smiles back and shakes her head. "Some sleeping pill addict stole my keys and hid them!" A streak of sunlight beams through a slot in the blinds and hit her squarely in the eye. She squints and turns her head so she facing the floor. I take this opportunity to surprise her with a kiss. Just the taste of her lips make's my discission take on a rock solid form. Nothing's going to stand in my way now. She pulls away before I can deepen the kiss. I sense a moments panic until I see her smiling. I move me head to block the sun still streaming in. "Public couple?" I can see the hope and doubt in her eyes. It takes me a second to register what she was asking me, but when I do I give her a chuckle, probably more out of my own delight of her acceptance. "Normal couple!" I don't give her a chance to respond, my lips are onto hers like lightning. After we settle our feelings and thought's in between kisses I leave her to get something for the both of us to eat. -------------(L)------------- I'm beaming literally. Finally we can have a chance to see where we can get. I was glad he made the move. I would say first move, but looking back I realise we both have been making moves for the last 24 hours. I sit up and realise that my shirt has been undone this whole time, that is unless Bobby managed to undo it without me noticing while we were kissing, that would explain why he didn't mention it. Then again, by the way he was looking at me, I can understand why he wouldn't mention it. While doing up my buttons, I look around the room. I throw my arms up when I spot his coat lying hidden under his desk, and my keys shinning half out of the pocket. I get up to get them and on my way back run my hand along his bookshelf looking for any new books he had gotten since last I was here. I come across a large binder with gold writing on the side. I bend my head to read it. Photo album. Hmmm? Well since he got to look at mine, his punishment can be that I get to look at his. I smile sneakily and settle back down on the couch. I giggle happily at the jumbled mess of picture just shoved in on any page. My brow creases as I come across one of a boat at the fishing harbour. It looks sooo familiar. I take it out and read the back. Winter 1977, Backsters harbour. I gasp and widen my eyes. "No way!" --------------------------The end! Yea, it's finished! Hope you enjoyed it. Feedback would be great! Don't be shy
