Title: From Bad To Worse (The continuing saga of Changed My Mind) Author: SirKnightAlot Author's note: Feedback is the result of this story so blame them not me. Summary: Ok I guess I can round up the last fic for the purpose of this section; Bobby and Lindsay did the nasty B knocked up L and she left, after 3 years she returned with their 2 boys (she had twins) Eleanor is dating a guy that no-one likes called Ben and has her baby Zoey and Lindsay has a brother called Paul that may make an appearance. Disclaimer: They are not mine well not all of them anyways I own a few of them but I would rather own one of the others (he starts with a B and ends with a obby) Setting: A few months after Changed My Mind Eleanor and Zoey's home. FRIDAY "What's for dinner then, you are making dinner aren't you I'm sick of take out" Ben yelled to Eleanor while looking through the refrigerator. "You will have to wait because I just finished work and Zoey needs to have her dinner and go to bed before I even start to think about our dinner." Eleanor said sitting down on the couch cuddling Zoey. Ben entered the room "why are you sitting down feed the kid and put it to bed then I'm starving" Ben was staring at her waiting for her response. "I just finished work Ben I need a rest that's all just wait a bit and then I will start with the dinner ok." Eleanor didn't even look his way. "Eleanor look at me when you talk, that damn kid gets all your attention I haven't seen you all day and when I see you all I ask you for is some dinner and you cant even give me that." Bens voice was rising slightly. "Ok Ben I'll get Zoey's food ready now and then I will start yours" Eleanor stood up and carried Zoey to the kitchen. "Lets see what I have in here" Eleanor said putting Zoey in her high chair and looking in the cupboard. Zoey sat in her chair watching her mother closely she threw her rattle on the floor and watched her mother pick it up. Zoey took it from her mothers' hand and threw it down again laughing. "Sweetie ma cant play now I have to get your dinner ready we will play later ok" Eleanor said apologetically picking up the rattle and handing it to her baby. Zoey looked up at her mother with sad eyes but Eleanor was to busy getting her dinner to notice. Meanwhile at Bobby's apartment Lindsay was a nervous wreck "are you sure they will be ok here with you Bobby? They get upset in places they don't know too well" "Linds they will be fine you brought that much stuff from home it will seem like they are at your place any way." Bobby reassured Lindsay. "Its just it is their first time spending the night at your house I'm just worried for them. Oh my god what will happen if they wake up in the middle of the night and not know where they are, maybe this isn't a good idea." Lindsay said looking around Bobby to her two boys playing behind him. "They will be fine, if they wake up I will be here. If you don't leave now I will never give them back" Bobby said trying to keep a straight face. "You can't do that Bobby they are my boys they need their mother." "They don't need her this weekend they just need their father. So leave now Lindsay you can pick them up from day-care after work on Monday" Bobby said pushing her out the door and locking it behind her just to be sure. "I thought I would never get rid of her," Bobby whispered under his breath. "Mummy's gone?" Tyler asked walking towards the door. "Yeah its just me you and Ethan now buddy" Bobby said picking up Tyler and taking him back to his brother. During the short time he knew his two boys he discovered that Ethan was the more independent out of the two and Tyler was a mummy's boy. "Mummy not come back," Tyler said with tears forming in his eyes. "No no Ty she's…" "Mummy don't love us," Ethan said by this time both boys had tears streaming down their cheeks. "Mum will be back she does love you" Bobby said quickly trying to soothe his boys but the panic in his voice made his voice rise to almost a yell and this made the boys cry harder. Bobby tried everything to make the boys stop crying he pulled out every toy they had in their bags, he put on the music tapes they brought he even tried putting on a video to calm them down but nothing worked. Bobby was at his wits end when he heard a knock at the door `now this can be one of two things' Bobby thought to himself `it was either Lindsay knowing that he couldn't handle the boys and now she had the proof in his living room. Or it could be one of his neighbours complaining about the noise. Please let it be a neighbour'. "Eugene what are you doing here?" Bobby asked surprised to see him silently thanking god it wasn't Lindsay. "Well I was passing by and heard the noise and thought you needed some help" Eugene said jokingly. "Really, is it that bad?" Bobby was that stressed he didn't notice Eugene's joke. "No I came to drop the briefs off but you can hear it down the hall, need some help?" "Yes I would love some" Bobby voice sounded desperate and why shouldn't it he was. "Hi guys what's wrong he sat down on the floor next to they crying children. "Mummy gone" he managed to make out between sobs. "Bobby maybe you should call Lindsay just to let the boys talk to her, it would settle them down a lot." Eugene said looking up at Bobby. "No way I cant call her she knew this would happen I don't want her to know she was right." Bobby was shaking his head stubbornly. "Well there is only one other way I know that may work but you have to promise me you wont be mad at me for it" Eugene was still sitting on the floor and it was hurting his neck looking up at Bobby all the time. "Anything Eugene I'm desperate." "Ok, Boys would you like Bobby to take you to McDonalds?" "Domalds?" Ethan asked looking from Eugene to Bobby, his crying had stopped but he was still sobbing. "Happy meal?" Tyler was still crying but he was starting to calm down a bit. "Yeah we will have McDonalds for dinner and uncle Eugene is going to come with us" Bobby said giving his had to Eugene. Eleanor had just put Zoey into bed and was serving Ben his food when Ben looked up at Eleanor. "Sit down will ya and eat don't worry about the kid and talk to me." "Zoey is starting to get a fever I just worry about her." Eleanor said defensively "How was work?" Ben always discarded anything Eleanor said about Zoey. "Fine I am sick of hearing about Bobby and Lindsay's kids though." Eleanor said stuffing a forkful of food into her mouth. "Bobby has kids?" "Yeah" Eleanor was surprised he was listening to her he never usually did "Yeah a couple of years ago he slept with a co-worker, Lindsay Dole and got her pregnant" "Really?" Ben had put his fork down and was really listening to her now. Eleanor who was both shocked and happy that Ben was listening to her kept going with all she knew about the Bobby and Lindsay/kid situation. "They had twin boys Ethan and Tyler they have her last name though because he wasn't around when they were born. They both got to Zoeys Day-care centre." As if on cue Zoey started to cry. "Where are you going?" Eleanor asked as she got up to see Zoey she noticed Ben heading for the door. "I'm going out." Ben stated "But you haven't finished your dinner." "I'll eat out anyway I cant concentrate with that noise, bye. Oh Ellie" "Yes?" "That kid have better shut up by the time I get back and clean up that mess." Ben said pointing to the table before slamming the door behind him. MONDAY Eleanor had a horrible weekend Zoey wouldn't stop crying and that mad Ben yell, the more Ben would yell the more Zoey cried and the more she cried the more he would yell. For the first time since ever Eleanor was glad to be at work. Bobby's weekend was much better, after Eugene's help that is. Both boys had stopped crying by the time they got to McDonalds and were both all smiles while they were eating (except for a few sobs from Tyler every now and then). Bed time Bobby thought was going to be a hassle, Tyler went to sleep straight after a story but Ethan kept getting up asking for drinks and the toilet and then another story, but finally settled down just before Bobby fell asleep on the couch. He was happy about the weekend but he didn't know how Lindsay did it everyday, the boys were up with the sun every morning. Besides the lack of sleep he was suffering the weekend was perfect. Lindsay was glad her work for the day was over, she hated defending people she knew were guilty especially if they show no remorse but what made it worse the DA on the case was her brother. Not only was she arguing a case she didn't want but she was arguing against her brother and if you thought it couldn't get worse it could, it was looking like she was going to win the case as well. She was happy to arrive at the day-care centre to see her boys. "Lindsay, what are you doing here?" was not the way she expected to be greeted when she entered. `If Bobby didn't drop them off here I'm going to kill him' Lindsay thought to herself "I'm here to pick up the boys" Lindsay said "But you brother picked them up over an hour ago" "What are you talking about? I've been in court with my brother all day he couldn't pick them up" Lindsay said with panic starting to set in. ********************************************************************** Title: From Bad To Worse part 2 Author: SirKnightAlot Author's note: Feedback is the result of this story so blame them not me. Summary: if you cant remember what happened in the first part blame Jewel for being slack with Soul Mates Disclaimer: They are not mine well not all of them anyways I own a few of them but I would rather own one of the others (he starts with a B and ends with a obby) Setting: same day as part one finished :office of Donnell and Associates. Bobby sat at the conference table rubbing his temples, he was sick of the bickering between Eleanor and Lucy but to make it worse Rebecca decided to join in as well. Bobby was about to interrupt them when one of the he couldn't make out which one said something about Jimmy and Jimmy started joining in with the bickering. Looking around the room thought to himself `if only I listened to the boys this morning and brought them to work I would have something to distract me from this'. The phone ringing distracted Bobby from his thoughts. "LUCY PHONE" Bobby yelled over their noise and wondered how he even heard it ring. Lucy left the office to pick up the phone on her desk and the conference room quieted down to a few mutters under people's breaths. "Thank god for that" Eugene said a little to loud judging by everyone's glares, everyone but Bobby who was smiling at his as if to say I couldn't put it any other way. "Bobby Lindsay on line one she seems kinda hysterical" Lucy comes rushing in to the conference room and Eugene breaths a sigh of relief as everyone's gazes are now of him and on Lucy. "One of the boys probably told her that we took them to McDonalds on Friday" Bobby jokes to Eugene before picking up the line. "Linds hi" Bobby says casually prepared for her to yell at him. "Ok calm down I cant understand you." Bobby's look changes from calm to worried "where are they? Have you called the police? Ok stay there I'll be right there" Everyone started to stare at Bobby waiting for an explanation by they never got one Bobby just put down the phone and ran out the door. "What was that all about?" Jimmy asked but all he got in return was stunned faces. "Lindsay" Bobby yelled as he ran through the doors of the day-care centre. She was sitting down on a chair yelling at the officer talking to her. He could see she had been crying, her cheeks were stained with tears and her eyes were red." "How many times do I have to tell you people I was with him all day he didn't take them." She was yelling as Bobby took the seat next to her and grabbed her hand. "And you sir" the officer turned to Bobby "do you know anything about this?" "No I was just called" Bobby said holding Lindsay's hand tighter "She knows what happened why aren't you talking to her?" Lindsay snapped pointing to the girl who told her that her brother picked up the boys "If you guys were doing you job properly instead of asking me the same stupid questions maybe we would be getting somewhere." "Look Miss I am just doing my job ok these are standard questions" the officer said coldly back to her. "Sir that young lady obviously saw who took the boys are you going to take her down to the station to look at some mugshots?" Bobby asked it was bothering him that it seamed like they were doing nothing to help them. "Yes sir we are going to do that but we need to finish questioning her first" he replied smugly before walking off. Bobby felt like punching him in the face, his two boys were gone and no one knew where they were and all they were doing was asking questions and making wise ass remarks, he had his fist clenched and was going to walk over there until Lindsay interrupted him. "Bobby can you please take me home, they said they will call if they found anything I just cant be here anymore" the tears started to fall down her cheeks again. "Sure" Bobby held both his hands out to her to help her up and then put his arm around her waist. They walked out in silence to the car park and when they got there Bobby realised for the first time since he had been there he parked next to Lindsay. "Um…would you like me to drive you in your car home?" Bobby asked softly "I can pick up my car later" "That would be nice Bobby thank you" She handed him the keys. Bobby noticed that everything she did was emotionless. Just a few minutes ago she was crying and now she seemed to have no emotions at all, she seemed almost robotic. The ride to Lindsay's house was silent. He almost by habit put the radio on but decided against it. Lindsay sat looking out the window and Bobby kept his eyes on the road occasionally moving his glance to Lindsay. When he pulled up beside Lindsay's house she got out slowly and waited by the door, when Bobby got there he waited to. "Bobby" Lindsay said, still no emotion she had completely shut down. "What is it?" "You have the key" Bobby put his hand in his pocket and handed her the key. When the door was open she went straight to the kitchen. "Bobby would you like a coffee?" She started to get the mugs ready. "Lindsay I'm fine why don't you sit down for a while," Bobby said putting his are tenderly around her. She shrugged his arm off and walked behind him "White with one isn't it Bobby?" she wasn't going to stop knowing full well if she did she would break down. "Lindsay stop" "How cant look at this place it's a mess." She grabbed a cloth and started to polish everything she could find. Bobby didn't know what to do, he couldn't reach her she had put up a wall and there was no door. Lindsay was polishing the coffee table when she stopped "Oh my god" Bobby came rushing in hearing Lindsay's panic "What is it Linds?" "I forgot Josh, he is still there at that place unless a complete stranger took him too" Bitterness at least that was an emotion. "Would you like me to call Tony?" Bobby asked walking over to the phone. "That would be great Bobby, have so much cleaning to do I wouldn't have the time." She started on the table again. Bobby looked for Tony's phone number in the phone book next to the phone and when he found it he was about to dial the number when Lindsay came running up to him and ripped the receiver right out of this hand. "Bobby what the hell do you think you are doing" She was yelling at him. "You asked me to call Tony" he replied blankly "What happens if they have news on the boys and cant get through? They might find them Bobby but we wont know because you are on the phone." She slammed down the receiver. "Use you cell phone." The cold look on her face nearly brought Bobby to tears. "Sorry" he said softly before going to another room to call Tony. When he returned he found her on the floor with her knees up to her chest crying and rocking back and forth. He sat with her on the floor and put his arm around her. "They need me Bobby," she cried moving so she could put her head on his shoulder "my boys are alone and they need me." Bobby looked down and saw she was holding a picture of the boys that was taken last week at the park. Bobby was holding Ethan and Lindsay was holding Tyler and they were all laughing. The reality of the situation hit Bobby they may never have another day like that again, they may never see the boys again. Bobby rested his head on Lindsay's and let his tears fall freely down his cheeks. They must have been there for a while; just holding each other and crying because when the phone rang they both were stiff. "Hello?" Lindsay picked up the phone wiping her tears of her cheeks then moving her hand to rub the back of her neck. "Ok we will be right there" "They found something?" Bobby asked groaning as he got up of the floor "The guy who took them was identified we have to go down and see if we know them" there it was again the robot Lindsay. At the station Bobby was nervous the guy who was identified had a mugshot meaning he had done a crime before, he was a criminal and could really hurt his boys. "Ok Miss Dole, Mr Donnell we have two suspects both were identified as the guys who took your boys I want you both to look at the first one and tell me if either of you know him" the officer said getting the picture ready for viewing. Both Lindsay and Bobby nodded at what they were told. "Ok here he is do you know him?" The picture was there in front of their eyes, Lindsay almost collapsed seeing the photo `he couldn't have taken my boy he shouldn't know they exist' she thought to herself. Bobby's reaction to the photo made everyone look at him and not notice Lindsay's reaction "Oh my god" Bobby heard his voice crack "That's Ben, Eleanor's boyfriend. ********************************************************************** Title: From Bad To Worse part 3 Author: SirKnightAlot Author's note: Feedback is the result of this story so blame them not me. Summary: read part 1&2 if you cant remember you will probably get the gist of it as you read Disclaimer: They are not mine well not all of them anyways I own a few of them but I would rather own one of the others (he starts with a B and ends with a obby) Setting: Directly after part 2: Bobby has just identified the mugshot as Ben Eleanor's Boyfriend "Oh my god" Bobby heard his voice crack "That's Ben, Eleanor's boyfriend" "Ben? Sir are you sure you know this man?" the officer was questioning Bobby as though he didn't believe him. "Yes I am, his name is Ben, I'm not sure of his last name but he is dating one of my work colleagues." Bobby retorted. "I'm sorry sir for asking you the question but, you see sir we have his name on file and it isn't Ben" the officer replied apologetically. He started looking through the file "his name is…" "Andrew Gracy" Lindsay said quietly but loud enough to get everyone's attention. "Do you know him miss?" The officer asked putting down his file and picking up his note pad "would you please explain how you know him?" "He is my mothers son" although she was still talking quietly the bitterness in her voice was noticeable. "So he is your brother then, so you brother did take your boys" the officer stated. "No he is not my brother he is the eldest son of my mother, I only have one brother." Her voice was raised now and she had more bitterness in her voice then before, it was as if it made her ill to talk about him. "Okay, miss is there reason he would have a grudge against you?" Lindsay was feeling uneasy he was staring at her now with his small eyes burning into hers. She wasn't going to tell him why he would have a grudge, she hated talking about what happened 14 years ago, if they read the file they had on him they would know. She just wanted to be left alone. "Linds?" she was interrupted by familiar a voice, a voice she hadn't heard for years but it did make her feel better. "Helen" Lindsay said looking up and quickly embracing her old friend "Andrew took them, he has my babies." She cried into her shoulder. "They are good guys sweetie, they will find them in no time ok." Helen smoothed down the hair on the back of Lindsay's head and rubbed her back. "Uh miss we need to ask you some questions about Andrew Gracy. We need to know why he would target you by taking your children." The officer said "Look officer…" Helen stopped to look at his nametag "Fields, my friend has been through enough today without bringing up events from her past. I'm sure you will find what you need in the file on you desk. Now if you are done here I would like to get my friend home." Even after all this time Helen still knew what Lindsay was thinking. "Well if you are sure that the information we need is in the file we just need your identification on the next suspect" the officer picked up the next mugshot on his desk "do you know this man?" he asked showing both Lindsay and Bobby. Lindsay slowly turned her head from Helens shoulder to look at the picture she was about to say something when Helen interrupted "Yes she does and if you read the file on him you will know how and why he would hold a grudge against Lindsay." Helen said grabbing Lindsay's hand "now if that's all officer, we need to get home." She pulled Lindsay out of the office and was being slowly followed by Bobby. Bobby couldn't understand why Eleanor's boyfriend would have changed his name and why he would have a grudge against Lindsay. He found them standing by Lindsay's car and he could see Helen was talking to her. "Bobby are you coming?" she called out to him. "Uh yeah sure" Bobby said with his head full of thoughts "Lindsay says your car is still at the day-care centre so I'll drive you there and you can pick up your car and I'll take Linds home." Helen said starting the engine of Lindsay's car. "What about your car?" Bobby asked looking around the car park for it. "I carpooled today so there is no car." She said Bobby sat in the back seat wondering why Helen hadn't driven off yet. "Seatbelt Bobby" Helen said as if she was reading his thoughts. After watching Bobby sheepishly put his seatbelt on she muttered "men" under her voice but it was loud enough for both Lindsay and Bobby to hear. Lindsay looked at Helen and shook her head at her and both Helen and Bobby smiled to themselves happy to see Lindsay was finally letting her wall comedown. "Get out" Helen said as soon as she pulled up near Bobby's car. The way she said it made Bobby jump she didn't mean to yell at him but she could see that being here wasn't helping Lindsay. "Ok I'll see you back at your place ok Linds" Bobby said rubbing Lindsay's shoulder as she slowly got out of the car. "Um Lindsay do you want me to…" "Bobby just get your car we will see you at Lindsay's place ok" Helen said grumpily it was obvious that he couldn't see the effect this place was having on her. "I was just wondering if she wanted me to get some dinner" "I will work that out when we get home just get your car." Helen was getting more and more annoyed at Bobby for not noticing Lindsay. "It would be easier if I just brought something on the way." "Bobby just get your car and don't worry" "But…" "Bobby I'm fine, I'm not that hungry, maybe you should get something for you and Helen, I'll eat later." Lindsay said reaching her hand out the window and rubbing his arm. She hated it here and Helen knew it but she knew Bobby was trying to take his mind off things. "Are you sure?" he softened his voice "Yeah just get your car I'll see you later." She said to him and wound up her window. Bobby walked towards his car and turned to look back at Lindsay, she was already gone. Bobby couldn't get the thought out of his head, Lindsay knew who had his boys and why. He felt so left out, they were his kids and Helen knew more about why they were gone then he did. What was he suppose to do, he couldn't comfort her Helen was there; he needed to comfort her for his own comfort. He could cry with her, he needed to cry but he needed her. Sitting in his car he looked in the rear view mirror, it had been knocked, probably when he got out of the car earlier. He looked in it and saw the back seat; on the back seat were two toys, Cooper Ethan's toy dog and Beefy Tyler's teddy bear. Looking at them he could remember that mornings conversation. "Come on boys we are going to be late." He yelled from the kitchen "I have to go to the bathroom," Tyler yelled back to him "Well go then," he yelled back "Eefie wont get out" Bobby walked to the bathroom door "Ethan hurry up Tyler needs to go and your breakfast is getting cold." "I'm done" Ethan said coming out of the bathroom and running into the kitchen. "Its all yours buddy" Bobby said to Tyler before walking into the kitchen to serve Ethan's breakfast. He had just got the juice out of the refrigerator when he heard loud crying coming out of the bathroom. He ran thinking Tyler had slipped on the wet floor only to discover Tyler holding his pants and sitting on the floor crying. "What's wrong Ty?" "I had an accident," Tyler said showing Bobby his wet pants. "Its ok, we can get some dry ones for you." Bobby said grabbing the wet ones from him and walking to the overnight bag Lindsay sent to get clean clothes out. "Here you go," he said passing Tyler a pair of jeans "now put them on and have break fast before we leave" "I'm ready Bobby lets go" Ethan said coming out of the kitchen covered in honey. "But I want bekfast" Tyler almost started to cry again. "Ethan go to the bathroom we need to get you cleaned up, you're all sticky. "I like sticky" "Go to the bathroom" "Bobby I don't like honey" Tyler said following Bobby and Ethan to the bathroom "I know Ty, you have cheese but you better eat it quick because we are leaving soon." Bobby finally got them into the car and was running late. "Why couldn't we watch Sesame Street today" Ethan asked "Because I will be late for work" Bobby said keeping his eyes on the road "Can I go to work?" Tyler asked, "I wanna see oogene" "No mummy's going to pick you up from day care, but I will tell Eugene that you want to see him" "Ring mummy and tell her we go to work and then we can see oogene," Ethan said "I wanna see mummy now" Tyler cried "Bobby I want mummy" "You will see her later but its time for day care because we are here." "Bobby I wanna stay with you" Tyler said holding Bobby's are as he tried to undo his seat belt. "I'm busy today but next time I will take you ok" "Promise?" "I promise" "Bobby?" Ethan who was now out of the car walked behind Bobby and started to tug on his shirt. "What is it Eefie?" Bobby was getting frustrated because he couldn't get to Tyler's seat belt with him still holding his arm. "I want you to look after Cooper for me, you can bring him over tonight and we can all have dinner." Ethan said passing his toy dog to Bobby. "You have Beefy too," Tyler said letting go of Bobby and grabbing his teddy. "Ok leave them in the back seat and I'll give them back to you tonight" Bobby said pulling Tyler out of his chair and walking them into the building. "Bobby I wanna stay with you" Tyler was now clinging to Bobby so hard he could swear he had holes in his arms where his nails were. "I'll see you later tonight Ty, you need to make sure Eefie stays out of trouble" Bobby kissed Tyler on his head and walked out, he could feel Tyler's eyes on him the whole time. Bobby sat in his car and grabbed the toys; he rested his head on the steering wheel and cried, it was his fault, if only he let the boys come to work with him today they would all be together now. **************************************
