Title: Believe Author: Michal. hashavit@research.haifa.ac.il Author’s note: ok, it’s a new one. It’s also a short one, first and last part. My version of how B&L got together. Summary: talking to my sister I asked her how she thought B&L got together. Whether it was a whole complicated situation with ‘let’s discuss our feelings’ or just one night them jumping each other. She answered what I thought and the answer is bellow. I really really hope you’ll enjoy this piece. And if you do… you know what to do. (Feedback!!!!!) Love, michal. Disclaimer: You know the drill… only one genius, that is DEK, created our favorite characters. I’m just playing with them… ******* “Nope, sorry. Not gonna happen.” “Lindsay?” “No! Bobby, why can’t you take no for an answer.” “It’ll be two, three days tops.” “For a murder case?” she said incredulously. “Well… maybe four.” “Uh uh, or five. Come on Bobby, spill it. How many days are we talking about?” Bobby blurted out something she couldn’t understand. “Excuse me? What did you just say?” “A week…” “No no no no way” she stormed out of his office, heading to her desk. Bobby, not giving up, right behind her. “Well who’s going to do all the constitutional stuff?” “Ellenor!” “Hey! Don’t drop this on me. Why should I do this?” Ellenor jumped in to protest. “You know I am the boss.” Bobby turned to both of them. “I could give an order.” “Yeah, you could.” Lindsay moved closer and stared him in the eyes. Ellenor, Eugene, Rebecca and Jimmy, all attempting not to laugh, stood on the side, watching the two. “But will you?” “Is that a challenge?” “It might be.” She smiled. “Fine. You’re doing it. You need jury trials practice anyway.” “I’ve been doing jury trials for six months already. Don’t give me that.” “She’s right man.” Eugene chuckled. “Eugene! Are you taking her side?” “Come on Bobby, it starts tomorrow. “Ok, I’ll make it up to you, ok?” he turned to Lindsay. “No problem, Christmas’ bonuses are just around the corner.” Lindsay went to sit at her desk. “You don’t feel bad about taking money from me?” Bobby looked deeply in her eyes, trying to squeeze some sympathy. Lindsay looked at the gang, then again at Bobby’s baby blue eyes. “No, not really.” “Good one girl.” Rebecca laughed, Bobby pouted. “Thank you Bec.” “She’s got a point Bobby. Only you don’t have any money to pay her.” She handed Lindsay a huge amount of documents and files. “Just one question Bobby.” Lindsay looked at the pile of papers, then at him. “Yeah?” “Did he do it?” “That depends.” “On what?” “On what’s your definition of murder…” “Oh I don’t want to know.” Lindsay sighed and opened the first file. “But I’m gonna in a minute.” “Lindsay?” “Yeah?” “Thanks.” He smiled and stepped into his office. “Sure…” Lindsay returned a smile of her own and got back to work. ******** “All we ask you to do in the next few days is just look at the merits of the case and find that reasonable doubt.” Silence. “So, how was it?” Bobby just practiced his opening argument in front of Lindsay. “Pretty good… Considering.” “Considering what?” “I don’t know Bobby. When lawyers start rambling on about reasonable doubt, the jury usually sees that they don’t have a case.” “But we do have a case.” “Yeah, but a reasonable doubt – burden of prove case.” “You mean a ‘he’s totally guilty’ case?” “Yeah!” she laughed sweetly after thinking about it. “So…” Bobby sat beside her on his couch. “What do you suggest?” “It’s good. Just tone it down and it’ll be fine.” “Okay, so I guess we’re done in here.” “Don’t worry, you’ll do great.” Lindsay got up and slid her jacket back on. "I’m gonna go home. I’m pretty bit.” “Sure. You need a ride?” “No that’s ok. My car’s right here.” Their eyes met. Nothing was hinted in the need to look at each other. To look at a friend, and smile. “But thanks anyway.” “No problem. See you tomorrow.” “Bye.” She smiled again and left the office. ******* “Lindsay, when will you two finish up here?” Rebecca opened the door to Bobby’s office. “Hmm, pretty late. Ask him, he’s the boss.” Lindsay teased him. “Bobby?” “Late. Why?” “Cause I don’t feel like sleeping here. Do you? “ “You can go. We’ll lock up.” “Okay. Good night guys.” “Good night Bec.” “Yeah, bye.” Lindsay waited until Rebecca walked out. “Booby, she needs to start getting used to you locking up every day.” “Yeah, I know. I told her that about a million times but she still gives me a hard time.” He looked up. “Linds?” Bobby stood next to his desk while Lindsay sat on the couch, not remotely as alert as him. “God Bobby, I’m sooo tired… It’s just oral arguments, 4th amendment… I do this by heart.” Lindsay leaned back on the couch, wanting so bad to get some sleep. “No, Linds… come on, wake up, I need you.” “Ohh… ok.” She sat up straight again, ready for action. “What do you need? That is… besides me?” she smiled. “Funny.” “Hey! That’s my word…” “Not anymore…” he changed his goofy expression. “Now, the DA’s basic… “ “Oh, wait a second and hold that thought…” Lindsay quickly got up and slid off her jacket. “God it’s hot in here.” She sat back. “Okay, keep going.” Silence. “Bobby?” A stare. A cold stream washing his body, as a new terrifying yet fantastic sensation took over him. “Bo – bby? Wake up… “ Lindsay wasn’t able to understand his actions. He walked up and sat beside her. “Bobby… you’re acting really strange.” She smiled, not comprehending the matter. Bobby took her file folder and dropped it intentionally on the floor. “Bobby! What the hell are you do…” “Shh…” He silenced her with his finger on her lips. He slid her hair back as he moved in to kiss her… so passionately. Her heart beat like hell, as shock and confusion were the only feelings she was able to sustain. Oh, and… passion, hunger. So deep and strong… so powerful that it possessed her, and she was drowning in it… her entire body awoke in comparison to the tiredness she had felt a minute ago. Her best friend two seconds before, has now stripped her out of her blouse and unbuttoned his whilst their lips never broke apart. “Oh god… Bobby.” She whispered quietly as he laid her on the couch… not stopping to think about what he had just done. Her fingers, weak with desire, clenched his back and moved upper to caress the back of his neck, down to his strong muscles and bared shoulders. Experiencing for the first time the incredible feeling of Bobby’s body pressed against hers. The sensation that made her body tingle with pleasure… Bobby’s eyes opened for a second, meeting Lindsay’s. Seeking reassurance and willingness. Making sure she wanted it too. And she did… The few uncountable seconds, which lacked the touch of their lips, were obviously intolerable… unbearable as Lindsay renewed their hungry kiss and undressed them both… for the first time. ******* 1am. Donnell and associates. Bobby’s office. Lindsay lay in Bobby’s arms. She couldn’t describe what she was feeling. She was still overwhelmed about what had just happened between her and Bobby. Her body felt numb, but her eyes were wide-awake. “A penny for your thoughts.” Bobby whispered. Yet despite his soft voice and their renewed touch he startled her. “Bobby. Hey…” she raised her eyes to face him as he held her tighter. “Hey.” He looked deep in her eyes, exposing her emotions. “So… what are you thinking?” he softly brushed her hair out of her eyes. “I’m thinking…” she looked in his eyes as well. “Oh… my… god.” They both smiled at each other. “You read my minds.” She couldn’t keep her eyes off of him. Swallowing hard, she felt the need for constant eye contact… like that was going to clarify their feelings. “Oh my god.” She couldn’t stop. “You’re my friend… and my boss1” she hid behind the pillow she had been leaning on. “I slept with my boss!” he voice was a blur because of the pillow. Bobby took the pillow away from her and put his hand on her cheek. “Are you sorry?” he asked seriously. “Well… are you?” she was terrified she might say the wrong thing. “I asked you first.” “So?” “So you owe me an answer.” He shifted his body so close to hers, and it felt good… she grabbed the pillow from him and half covered her face. “No, I’m not sorry.” Her eyes searched his reaction. He just smiled. “Good. Me neither… now, are you going to move that pillow away or am I gonna have to take it away from you again?” Lindsay slowly lowered the pillow and pushed it to the side. She freed her hands to put them on his chest and then slide it around his neck, closing her eyes as he leaned closer and pressed his lips against hers. Bobby slowly deepened their kiss and lowered his hands to stroke her warm body. The more she felt his body closer to hers the more she felt her heart rate quickening. And most of all… she couldn’t believe it. ******* Lindsay walked slowly to the offices of Donnell and associates. The cup of coffee she was holding was in great risk of spilling, due to her shaking hands. Her nerves and excitement at the same time were transparent in her eyes. Bobby had insisted on walking her to her car last night. Giving her a chaste kiss before opening the door for her. Him - fearing she might change her mind, Her – perplexed just by thinking about the next morning. That is… now. She was desperate to smell his aftershave again. The same cent she had said goodbye to when the cold water had washed her body. She still couldn’t believe it. Working to Bobby has not been an experience due only to his amazing talent as a lawyer. She felt the attraction from the moment she laid eyes on him. An attraction she chose to overlook and instead, concentrate on the other aspects of their relationship. And it worked. She could even dismiss the breathtaking view of Bobby, without a jacket, yet with a slightly loose tie on… until last night. She felt paralyzed the minute he touched her, yet felt her body coming to life with each touch of his finger, hand, lip… Lindsay shook the flashbacks of last night and walked inside the office, ready to work. Her heart started racing again 5 minutes later when Bobby arrived at the office. “Good morning everyone.” He smiled to everyone, appearing in his best mood in the last few weeks. “Bec, any messages?” “No.” “Okay. Lindsay, in my office.” Bobby wasn’t too pleased by his last demand. What usually came out as an order now felt like a request or an insecure stutter. Bobby rushed to his office, looking busy, yet feeling petrified… not leaving Lindsay one moment for regret. She closed the door quietly and turned to face him. Bobby took off his coat and briefcase and stood in front of her. Wide eyed she anticipated his words, yet none came out. “Bobby?” he was silent, too silent… much to her concern. “Did you want to talk to me or…” Bobby slowly nodded and opened his mouth to speak. “The truth is… ever since last night… I can’t stop thinking about you.” “Oh god…” she laughed. “What?” he asked with a conscientious smile. “Well… I can’t either.” she smiled happily. “So, what do you suggest we do about it?” “Hm, I don’t know… why?” she was curious as to what he’d say. “I want to see you.” Bobby emphatically concluded. “You do?” she again smiled unbelievingly. “I want to be with you.” He honestly admitted. “Come over here for a second.” She reached to hold his hand while peeking through the blinds. Holding his hand alone constituted a wonderful experience. “What?” he looked outside as well. “Coast’s clear.” She smiled, closed her eyes and kissed him softly. Both of them were shocked by their courage and passion for each other. “So, what do you say you come over tonight?” “Sure.” He nodded, can’t wait to experience her soft lips again. “Let’s say… 10 o’clock.” “Uh uh…” she smiled. “I have to go. They’ll get suspicious.” “Okay. We have to be in court anyways by noon.” “See you.” She turned to the door. “Can I ask you one last request?” “What?” He moved to whisper in her ear. “One more kiss.” Lindsay glanced out side and then locked her eyes on his and laughed. “Remember this one.” She kissed him tenderly, planning to move away as Bobby opened his mouth to hungrily kiss her… not letting her get away while deepening their kiss and reluctantly pulling away breathlessly. “10 o’clock.” She hissed and left the office. ******* By the time Bobby knocked on Lindsay’s door that night, she finally found it possible to believe. It suddenly became clearer than ever. The moment she opened the door, no words had been said. Only strong desire appeared in their locked gazes. Maybe a soft ‘Hi’ before he stepped inside, kicked the door to close, put his hands on her face and began kissing her, removing her cloths in the process. She smiled between kisses, pulling him in direction of her bedroom, stripping off his cloths as well. Both giggling in the course of reaching her bedroom and ultimately falling to her bed… stroking one another, exploring territories they hadn’t known until that night… consummating their wish to be with each other and knowing it’s the right thing to do… THE END. ******* Please please tell me what you thought or I’ll get too lazy to type my next fanfic… michal.
