So your wondering what caliber to chose, well there is a lot of good meaning in the old saying '177 for feather and 22 for fur; and for a lot of people this should be there answer to the question. things you might need to consider are-:
Did you Know? A 177 pellet travels in a flatter trajectory than that of a .22 this is to say that because the .177 is traveling faster to obtain the the same energy as that of the .22 pellet which is normally heavier it has les time to be affected by the earths gravitational pull, in simple terms this means that a shot taken on a typical .177 rifle at a distance of 40 yards when the rifle has a zero at 25yards might still kill the bunny if you where aiming at the top of his head yet the same shot taken with .22 would simply fall short and miss. This is not to say that this seemingly improved accuracy will bring home the bacon or bunnies so to speak because the reduced surface area of the .177 needs a more precise placement to cause the desired clean kill as they have less shocking area then the .22 calibre. Did you Know? A .177 has more drilling power to penetrate the feathers or our feathery friends, yet the .22 has a larger shocking power on softer covered bunnies and the like. Did you Know? .20 has a flatter trajectory than a .22 yet caries more shock factor than a .177 so this could be the decision of the opportunist without a particular quest in quarry.
