After a bit of thought I decided upon a gun mounted lamp, I think its quicker to home in on the target with if maybe slightly more dangerous. you must be careful when panning the lamp because you never now what will appear and when its in the beam its also in the line of fire. I have seen all the different type of lamps for sale but think they have ether got silly price tags or more importantly some think else wrong with them, no its not an excuse from a cheep-skate, when I go lamping I would like to be able to put the gun down or maybe pass it to an awaiting friend over the other side of a fence without getting hung on the way so my lap kit must have self contained batteries. Also a lot of commercial lamps are way to bright, this is air-gunning hear not how to lamp a .762! so the use of an appropriate brightness in order, I like some of the little halogen torches that use 4 x AA pen cells for power. good brightness good weight.
This little number I use I bought in 'Argos' a fare few years ago now I think it cost £5 and to turn it on and focus it requires a quick turn of the water resistant case. to much surplus light was about so I cut a small plant pot (black one at that) to fit the front held on with a few tidy turns of electrical tape, keeps all surplus light of the gun and surrounding area and looks pretty smart too! the switch added is a must, a short bit of wire simple lamp switch and peace of velcro, if you cant figure out how its done, drop me a line. |
