EDINBURGH CLASS CRUISER.

Sourced:Conway's All the World's Fighting Ships, 1922-1946 Hardcover – January 18, 1980

New Belfast hull i received. this hull has been half worked on by my father.

it already has propshafts with couplings, propellers and inserts, drive motors with mounts and wiring.

also the rudder is already in place on a post with a control horn on the shaft ready to be connected. also a mount for the rudder servo.

this hull also came with a partial set of forward turrets which are tandem triple barrel 3/16 guns with 65mm magazines.

testing the motors

First i wanted to test the existing motors in the hull to see if they were viable to use and to save me from having to buy new ones.

iyou can see i already have a wiring loom made up for battery to speed controller that then goes to the motors.

For all connections i use electrical crimp lugs. Bullet style because a 1.5mm bullet will fit into a 2.5mm bullet. this means that if i have an failure of electrical kind i am able to unplug everything and swap it with a new one with the same connectors already on it.

Now i fit the ruddder servo and measure the control arms for length to fit into the clevis' to enable to arm steering for strength and redundancy.

Now i started to make the float reel. this is a piece of aluminum sourced from a local hardware store.

with the piece cut out with an angle drinder and the sharp edge trimmed off. a hole is drilled the same size as the shaft diameter of thee float reel.

two small hole are drilled through the middle of the bar for split pins to hold the rod in place.

next drilled two holes offset in the base of the alluminum. then i marked the holes in the base of the hull.
