Why Use Alternatives?

Fossil fuels, currently our main source of energy and electricity, is one of the main cause of pollution. Harmful greenhouse gasses such as carbon dioxide are released when we burn fossil fuels to generate our electricity. These gasses trap heat from the sun and cause what is known as global climate change.

By using alternative energy sources that reduce or completely remove harmful emissions, we can prevent serious global climate changes and other environmental problems.

The Alternatives

Wind Energy

Wind power is the conversion of wind energy into a useful form of energy, such as using wind turbines to make electrical power, windmills for mechanical power, windpumps for water pumping or drainage, or sails to propel ships.

Solar Energy

Solar energy, radiant light and heat from the sun, is harnessed using a range of ever-evolving technologies such as solar heating, solar photovoltaics, solar thermal electricity, solar architecture and artificial photosynthesis.

Hydropower

Hydropower is power derived from the energy of falling water and running water, which may be harnessed for useful purposes. Hydro-power has been used for irrigation and the operation of various mechanical devices since ancient times.

Geothermal Energy

Geothermal energy is thermal energy generated and stored in the Earth that can be used for electricity generation. Geothermal power is cost effective, reliable, sustainable, and environmentally friendly.
