Tommy Cat's Story

Tommy arrived to my house in June of 2012. I began placing out food and water for him.
He would come, eat and leave. One day, as I was just placing out his food, Tommy
arrived and allowed me to pet him. He ate and left. I began watching to see if I could
figure out where he was going, when he left. I saw him jump the fence, into my neighbor's
yard. I, finally, detected that he was going underneath my neighbor's shed. Tommy's skin
was in horrible condition, with sores, scabs and a gooey, black fungus. I was in hopes of
friending him and treating his issue.

Eventually, Tommy stopped leaving. He began to stay around on my carport. I wanted
him inside, so he wouldn't wonder off, but he would not come inside. I had an old easy
chair, that I oput out on the carport. I began sleeping in the chair with Tommy. I used a
lot of Deep Woods Off. He slept right in the chair with me. Winter arrived. I took an
electric blanket out, to the chair, to keep Tommy and me war. I came up with the idea to
take an old couch, from the garage, to the carport. I created us an even nicer place to
dwell. My husband got some lattice, from work, that was taken down to be thrown away.
He put the lattice to one side of the carport and we put up a blind to the front of the
carport, where my vehicle is parked. Tommy and I had, almost, complete privacy.

Tommy and I got real close. I took Tommy to the Animal Coalition of Tampa, where he
was neutered, with shots, dewormed and ear tipped. I did the ear tip because I wasn't
sure if Tommy would stay with me or decide to leave. I searched Google and put together
a home remedy for his skin issue. One day was to use honey with a little olive oil. The
next day, use lemon juice to break the sticky goo of the honey. The third day, use half
apple cider vinegar, half Water. This was to give Tommy a break from the honey goo just
to make sure he wouldn't dislike the ordeal so much that he would leave and not return
I did this every day, not missing one day, for three months. Tommy was so good to allow
me to do. this. Along with this and a lot of prayer, Tommy was healed. No more sores,
scabs or gooey fungus. As you can see, Tommy has a pretty, soft coat of fur :o)

Tommy became my dearest friend. I got him to come inside at night. He sleeps with me,
in my bed. I let him out in the morning because he insists. He stays right in the yard or
on the carport, except once in a while he will venture across the street, to the neighbor's
driveway, in order to sniff their tires. I get very worried when he does this. I don't like for
him to cross the street. Sometimes, he will go sit in the very front of the front yard,
under the elephant ears. From time to time, he will go around to the other side of the
house. I call for him because I get worried when he is not in my sight.

Tommy has become the love of my life. I am in and out, doing housework, and often, I
stop to visit with Tommy. I talk to him all day long. He talks to me. I put him inside
when I have to mow the lawn or leave the house. I let him back outside when I am done
mowing or return from leaving home. I take my breaks with Tommy. He knows when it
is time to eat and he reminds me if I forget. I love Tommy so much and I can tell he
loves me too.

August of this year, 2014, Tommy started running from his food. As a little time went
on, he gave a little ouch sound as he would run off. I took him to the veterinarian.
Tommy was diagnosed with Feline Stomatitis, which is a chronic gum disease. I have
learned that it is extremely painful. It hasn't gotten under control, yet. Tommy's
veterinarian is working on it. It is being so very expensive. I have cried and prayed
my heart out for Tommy to be healed. Only God can take this away.

I have sought out supplements to use at home and put Tommy on no grain food, which
is woefully expensive, and then there is the expensive vet bill that is adding up faster
than I can pay on it. We are struggling because of this. I love Tommy so very much. He
is otherwise, healthy and very much alive. I cannot just put him to sleep over this. It will
kill me to do that. I want Tommy to have some more life with me. His veterinarian said
that Tommy is about eight years old and he has had a rough life. There is still some
years to be shared, where Tommy can have a chance at a much smoother life, filled with
love and care. It will kill me when the time does come that he must leave me but I want it
to be a long time from now. I love my Tommy. I break into tears at the very thought of
Tommy leaving me.

I take care of two large cat colonies. I have taken care of the colonies since 2005. I
cannot abandon them. I love them all and I do not mean to make any sound any less but
Tommy moved himself into my heart, my life and my home, more than any other has. I
have taken care of thousands of cats in my lifetime. I can say that Tommy is a one main
kitty that I am so close with. I have never been this close with any other.

My plea is that people, who might have money, would have a heart and donate
something to help me keep Tommy for some good long years to come. Every little bit,
donated, helps. I am not one to ask such from people but I have to, this time.
All for the Love of Tommy.

Thank you for reading about a woman who has fallen so deeply in love with a precious
cat named Tommy. I guess this could have been my story, as well as Tommy's story.
If you have money that you could spare and donate, I could never express my
gratitude to its fullest. God Bless You.
