Endometriosis is a disease which is chronic and painful.  It affects millions of women all over the world, without regard to race, creed, or social status.  Although endometriosis is rarely fatal, its effect on women touches their lives in the following areas:   physical, psychological, emotional, social, family, career, and childbearing potential.

The endometriomas is tissue which lines the inside of the uterus.
Endometriosis occurs when such tissues spreads outside of the uterus, often into the ovaries, fallopian tubes, bowel, cervix, bladder, and possibly  abdominal surgical scars. The misplaced tissue develops into growths or lesions. These misplaced growths or lesions respond to he menstrual cycle in a similar fashion as the lining of the uterus does.

In the uterus, menstrual blood flows through the uterus and finds it way out of the body. Unfortunately, the growths and lesions outside of the uterus have no way to eliminate blood and debris.  Consequently local inflammation, scarring, and adhesions eventually cause the symptoms and problems associated with endometriosis. The exact cause of
endometriosis is unknown.  There is no proven prevention for endometriosis.
