Jenai stood in the shower and left the cold water run over her body. She couldnt stop thinking about what happened at the hospital. Yeah she thought she went a little over board with the gun and the syringe, but she wouldnt change any of it. She felt good finally having the power over the man that hurt her. She felt strong again. She was happy. If she wasnt at the hospital herself to see it, she wouldnt believe that Vin Davis was dead. She would still believe he was out there trying to kill her. Someone was though. Just because Vin was dead didnt mean it was over. He was working with someone and they had to be found.
She wasnt going to worry about it at the moment though. She wanted to enjoy knowing Vin was dead at least for a while. She waited ten years for it so she had the right to enjoy it. A part of her wanted to start celebrating, but the other part didnt. She didnt want to get her hopes up. Just because one of the men was dead didnt mean they were going to get the others so easily. Hell they couldnt get them from the beginning. She was just going to enjoy it though. She was going to
JJ, She heard a knock at the door. JJ, dinners soon ready!
Ill be out in a few minutes, Dani! Jenai turned the water off and got out of the shower. She grabbed a towel and wrapped it around her. She looked around the bathroom and sighed. Shit. She sighed again and opened the bathroom door. She peeked out and seeing no one she walked to her room. She pushed the door shut and stopped in her tracks. Detective. Nickolas looked at her, as she walked from the door.
Um, I was just, uh, um, bringing your diary in. He tossed it on the bed and she just looked at him. Ill just He pointed to the door and walked over.
You didnt read it did you? He looked at her and then quickly looked away.
No; of course not. Its private.
Yeah. He opened the door. Why are you acting like you never saw a girl in a towel before? He looked at her surprised by her question just after remembering she was raped.
Im, uh, Im not. Its just thatyou just remembered being raped and its notI just dont think its right.
Right. She looked away from him.
Its not you, JJ. God knows youre gorgeous. She looked at him and grinned a little. And God knows Ive been waiting for this moment since we met, but I think you should just focus on what you remembered.
And what moments that?
What?
What moment have you been waiting for? We were already alone plenty of times.
He just looked at her a moment then said, Im going to He took a deep breath and Jenai watched him walk out and close the door.
Jenai sighed and sat on the bed. What was wrong with her? She just remembered being raped, but she couldnt stop fantasizing about the handsome detective protecting her. She couldnt shake the feelings she had for him either.
Jenai, dinners ready, Jakob said knocking on the door.
Ill be right there, Jenai said dropping the towel to the floor and getting dressed, after putting body lotion on. She walked from her room and to the parlor and saw Kevin standing there. Great. Who invited you?
Kevin smiled and said, Nice to see you too, Little Sister. She grinned.
What are you doing here? Jenai questioned.
Checking up, Kevin answered. I was in Alabama with Kris and the babies so I decided to stop in.
Right, Jenai said and looked at him. How are they?
She hasnt called?
Um, not recently.
All three are doing fine and living it up at her parents.
Thats cool.
Yeah.
You had two little girls, right? Nickolas asked.
Kevin smiled and said, Yeah.
Awe, Jakob and Dannika said. Twins.
Whatd ya name them? Nickolas asked and Jenai looked at him.
Kristin was going to call and talk to Jenai about that, Kevin replied and Jenai looked at him.
Why? Jenai asked.
She named the babies Brianna Marie and Alexis Rae, Kevin replied. The others looked at them and Jenai just looked at him not saying anything. She wanted it to be in honor of your sister and her friend. Shes really hoping youre not disappointed. She just continued looking at him. Jenai.
How could you even consider it, Kev? She was my sister and my friend.
I know that. Jenai got up.
I cant believe you. She walked away from him.
Jenai. She walked outside. Jenai! She slammed the door behind her and they all looked at each other.
That went well, Dannika said.
Youd think shed be honored, Jakob said. Hell I am.
They were your friends, Dannika reminded him.
I think I know why shes upset, Kevin stated.
Why? Jakob asked.
Its not my place to say, Kevin replied.
Of course not, Dannika understood.
Lets just eat, Kevin said.
What about JJ? Nickolas wanted to know.
She just needs to calm down, Kevin stated. Shes upset, but shes not going to go far. Shell probably just end up back at the spring anyway. We can look for her after dinner when we know shes calm.
Ya just cant leave her out there by herself, Dannika stated. Shes upset and will probably run off.
Shes going to be fine, Kevin said and the door opened. They looked and saw Jenai walk in. Jenai, are you all right?
Im fine, Jenai said. Im not going to let it upset me.
Thats good, Jakob said.
But you still shouldve talked to me about it before you decided to go ahead and name your kids after my sister and her friend, Jenai stated. That wouldve been the honorable thing to do giving my situation.
Jenai, thats why Kevin began, but couldnt finish.
I dont want to hear it, Jenai snapped. Just drop it.
Youre impossible, Kevin said.
Thank you, Jenai said. Today is supposed to be a happy time.
Why? Jakob asked.
Because Vin Davis is dead, Jenai replied. And I watched him die like he watched Bri and Al.
Are you sure hes dead? Kevin asked.
Yes, Kev, Jenai assured him. We saw it. She grinned. This isnt Stargate, ya know. They cant put him in a Goauld sarcophagus and bring him back from the dead. Its highly impossible.
Right, Kevin said, as the other three chuckled.
Im just going to enjoy this moment as long as I can, Jenai said. I know for a fact its going to soon end and I just want to be happy right now.
Thats good enough, Kevin said.
Good, Jenai said. Lets eat. She sat at the table and they all looked at her.

Jenai, may we talk? Kevin asked standing at the patio door and Jenai looked at him.
I guess, Jenai said and Kevin sat next to her.
Jakob told me what you remembered, Kevin replied and Jenai looked at him again. Im sorry we lied to you.
You did what you thought was best for me, Kev, Jenai said.
You believe that? She nodded.
I thought about it and I cant hold it against you. You didnt want me to remember the pain I endured and I wish I didnt remember.
You have the right to know.
Yes I did and I do, but I had a lot to deal with then.
We still shouldve told you.
Forget it, Kev. I know now and thats all that matters.
Right.
Dont beat yourself up over it, because after this is over Im going to forget about it totally. She smiled and he nodded.
I was also told about the incident at the hospital. She looked at him and just grinned. Im not going to give ya the third degree so dont worry. Im just glad ya didnt kill him yourself.
Im surprised.
About what?
The fact that no bullet went into Vins head.
What do ya mean?
I had Nicks gun at Vins head and I pulled the trigger, but it made that sound like it was empty.
Perhaps the gun was empty. She shook her head.
I saw Nick put another clip in it after Justin was shot.
It was probably a dud.
I dont believe that.
Why not?
Because I dont. Some other higher power was in that room. They stopped me from killing him.
Like who? God? Death? Brianna? Alexis? She looked at him. It was a dud, Jenai.
If you want to believe that. Davis just got lucky.
And so did you. If you blew his brains out or even injected him with that stuff youd be sitting behind bars right now. I wouldnt be able to help you either.
I know. She sighed. I was glad the gun didnt work. I realized he wasnt worth it.
Im glad you did. Hes not something to ruin your life over. She shook her head. Oh, mom wanted me to give you this. He took a picture from his pocket and handed it to her. She was going through the stuff in the attic and came across it. She thought you might want it.
She looked at it and sighed, Thank you. I havent seen this picture in years. It was our first, last, and only family picture.
Whose lap are you sitting on?
Oh, um, thats Daniel; Briannas twin.
Where is he?
She sighed and said, Hes dead.
Im sorry.
It was a long time ago.
He nodded and said, "I have to go talk to Nickolas and Jakob so Ill leave ya to your thoughts.
Whatever. Kevin got up and she watched him go inside. She laid back on the bench and looked at the picture. It was taken a year before they were all torn apart and three months before Daniel died. It was a miracle her parents agreed to the picture and a bigger miracle that they were actually smiling. She looked at Daniel closely and then at her seven year-old self. She just looked at it closely a few minutes.
You look just like your brother, Vin said.
I look nothing like him besides the nose, Jenai stated.
Im not talking about Marty, Vin said. Im talking about the other one.
What other one? Jenai asked. Theres only Marty.
Are you sure about that? Vin asked. Are you sure theres only Marty? There could be another one.
He cant be alive, Jenai said.
A name, Davis, Jenai said.
Your brother, Vin replied.
I have two ways to kill you right now, Jenai said. And I aint afraid to do it either. I want a fucking name.
Your brother, Vin repeated

He cant be alive, Jenai repeated. He just cant be. She sat up and looked at the picture again. She had no idea what to think. Ever since she was seven she believed Daniel was dead. That was changing though just like everything else. Kevin! She got up and went inside.
