�Hey, JJ,� Kristin said, as Jenai took her medicine.
�Oh, hey,� Jenai said.
�I hope those are legal.�
�Of course. I haven�t been feeling well today so��
�Are you all right?�
�Yeah; nothing to worry about.�
�Ok. I am a nurse ya know.� Jenai nodded. �Nickolas called a few minutes ago.�
�What�d he want?�
�You of course.�
�He probably just wants to accuse me of killing Callen some more; typical cop always accuses the innocent. He�s a young blonde Kevin.�
�What?�
�Him and Kev accused me of killing my best friend�s sister, because some stupid eyewitness put me outside the apartment building at 3:30 when I was with Jakob at Stefano�s getting something to eat.�
�I� m sure they didn�t mean to accuse you.� Jenai shrugged. �Maybe you should call Nickolas and demand an apology.� The phone rang. �Maybe that�s him. Go ahead and answer it.� Jenai picked up the phone, as Kristin went outside.
�Hello?� Jenai said. �Richardson�s.�
�JJ, hey,� came Nickolas� voice.
�Oh, hey.�
�Just calling to make sure we�re still on for tonight.�
�Of course. I can�t wait.�
�So you�re not mad about earlier?�
�Nah, you were just doing your job.�
�Are ya sure?�
�Yes.�
�Alright. I just don�t want ya to think I was accusing you, because I wasn�t. You got a tight alibi so you�re clear.�
�Yeah.�
�I guess Kevin�s going to check out Miller and shit.�
�Why?�
�I told him about your theory. Fatone�s still missing and we have no leads at all.�
�They�re probably in it together along with Portia Steven�s.�
�Possibly.�
�I don�t understand how your eyewitness could confuse me with someone else. I vote for a crack head.�
�You and me both.� They laughed. �7:30 still good for ya?�
�Yeah; it gives me time to get ready.�
�Ok.�
�I hope you�re buying me dinner also, because I�m starving.�
�If you insist.�
�I do.�
�Ok then.�
�We�re going to have fun.�

�I know so.� He laughed. �What?�
�Do you like to think you know everything?�
�Uh�yeah.�
�That�s what I thought.�
�I hope so.�
�Well I�m going to go so I can shower and stuff.�

�Ok.� I�ll see ya in a little bit then.�
�Yeah.�
�Cool.�
�7:30; not a moment too soon or a moment too late.� She chuckled.
�Ok, I can�t wait.�
�Bye.�
�Bye.� Jenai waited for a click and then hung up herself. She walked from the kitchen and over to the basement. She went to pick up her stuff, but got a glimpse of herself in the television and stood there looking.

�Hey, Nick,� Kristin said after opening the front door. �What are you doing here?�
�Come to pick up, JJ,� Nickolas said stepping inside.� We got movie plans that have been put off since forever.�
�She�s downstairs probably getting ready.� Nickolas nodded. �She wasn�t feeling well earlier, but I�m sure she�s fine now. I�ll go get her.�
�Let me.� He smiled.
�Alright.� She grinned.
�It�s just as friends anyway.� He walked to the basement. �I�m a cop remember.�
�Right.� They laughed and Nickolas opened the basement door and went down.
�Hey, JJ, ya ready.� He got to the bottom and looked over to the bed. He saw Jenai lying there and walked over. �Guess not.� He walked around the bed looking at her and then knelt in front of her. �So beautiful.� He pushed her hair back. He started moving the picture she was holding and she opened her eyes. �Hey.� He smiled.
�Hi.� She yawned and stretched, as Nickolas put the picture on the stand. �What are you doing here?�
�We have movie plans remember?� He covered up her revealing breast with her shirt.
�Oh man. With everything that�s been going on since I got home I totally forgot.�
�I can wait while you get ready.�
�Of course.� She rolled over to the other side and moaned.
�Are you ok?�
�Yeah.�
�Kristin said you weren�t feeling well earlier.�
�I�m perfectly fine, Nick, and what does it matter to you?�
�Because I care about you.�
�Yeah right.� She got out of bed and buttoned her shirt. �You don�t care about me. The only thing you care about is staying cool with Sergeant Richardson.�
�That�s not true and you know it.� He stood up. �I care about you.�
�And I heard that a million times before. You�re no different from the rest, Nick. When you guys look at me all ya see is Kevin. He�s like a brother to me and he�s the Sergeant. So why not lie and say ya care about me to stay on Kev�s good side; that�s all they do.�
�What�s wrong with you?�
�Nothing; I just hate cops and every other guy and I ain�t making no exceptions for anyone.�
�I�m not understanding your change of behavior right now. Earlier you were telling me you couldn�t wait for tonight and now you�re acting like ya don�t even care.�
�Because I don�t. I never cared for cops and I ain�t starting now.�
�Did something happen that I should know about?�
�Nothing happened alright.�
�I don�t believe that.�
�Why must something have happened for me to realize that I�m making a mistake with you?� He looked at her not believing a single word of what she was saying. �Not just a little mistake, but a huge gigantic mistake.�
�And why is it a mistake? And don�t tell me it�s because I�m a cop, because I don�t believe it.�
�It just is ok.�
�I want a perfectly good reason.� She didn�t say anything and turned from him. �JJ, the past month and a half has been great between us. What happened?� She still didn�t say anything and quickly wiped away a tear. �When I told you I thought we had a good chance of having a future together you agreed with me. I believe you. I believed that more than anything. I still believe it.�
�I lied alright? I said it, because you wanted to hear it. There was nothing behind it; no meaning or anything.�
�Why are you doing this?�
�I ain�t doing anything and only being honest.�
�You�re far from being honest.� She put a pair of shorts on and combed her hair.
�You want the truth?�
�Yes I do.�
�Then you�ll get it.�
�Thank you.�
�I just wanted to get you into bed.�
�Ugh!�

�Why can�t ya just be straight with me?�
�I am and you won�t accept it. It�s like you�re obsessed with me or something.�
�I am not obsessed.�
�And I don�t have any feelings for you.� What a lie, she thought. �Not only that thought, but I�m�I�m still in love with Justin.� He looked at her. �I�ve been in love with him for the past almost four years; ever since I met him. When he dumped me and said he was going to marry Terri I was totally heartbroken and depressed. I hid my depression in my dancing and no one knew.� That�s an even bigger lie, she thought, if he only knew the truth.
�I don�t believe you.�
�Believe what you want, Detective, I�m just being honest.�
�I don�t know why you�re doing this, but I�ll find out.�
�I�m just telling you the truth, Nick, and if you can�t accept that then you have a problem.�
�Is this because of earlier at Club Z?�
�It has nothing to do with that. You were doing your job.� He grabbed her and made her look at him.
�Why are you doing this?� She didn�t say anything. �Damn it, JJ, we�re just getting started so don�t do this. Tell me what�s going on. Tell me what you�re hiding.�
�I ain�t hiding anything.� She turned her head and Nickolas made her looked at him again.
�Look at me please.� They looked at each other.
�Look at me, Jenai. Look in my eyes and see that there�s no sympathy whatsoever.� He shook her. �Do it now, because I�m going to be the last person you see�.� Jenai stopped the memory before she saw the man�s face.
�JJ, tell me you�re not serious,� Nickolas said.
�Leave me go,� Jenai said freeing herself from Nickolas� hold and walking from him.
�Please tell me you don�t mean anything you just said.� She didn�t, but she couldn�t tell him that. She couldn�t tell him the real reason, because he�d be devastated. This was a lot easier. So she thought anyway. It was actually tearing her apart inside.
�Could you just go, please? I can�t do this right now.� He sighed.
�Fine; if ya want it this way then that�s the way it�s going to be.� She didn�t say anything. �If ya want to say you still love Justin then fine, but I will find out the truth.� He walked to the stairway and looked at Jenai, as she sat on the bed with her back turned. He looked in the mirror in front of her and he saw her tears.
�Damn it, Nick, how are we supposed to work on a future when I might not even be around to see it?� Nickolas just looked at her confused, as she continued crying. �This ain�t fair. Not fair at all.� She laid down on the bed and Nickolas quietly went upstairs. She laid there a moment alone before Kristin joined her.
�JJ, where�s Nick going?� Kristin asked sitting on the bed. �I thought you two had plans?� Jenai looked at her then quickly hugged her. �Hey, what�s wrong?�
�So much,� Jenai began, �and I don�t know what to do or where to begin.�
�It�s ok. You�ll figure it out.�
�I don�t think I can.� She continued crying, but Kristin didn�t know what to say.
