�The sun�s going to soon come up,� Jenai said, as her and Nickolas sat on the balcony together that morning.
�Yeah it is,� Nickolas agreed and Jenai yawned. �Tired?�
�A little.�
�Do you want to go lay down?� She shrugged. �C�mon.� They got up and he took her hand; leading her inside. They walked to the bedroom and quietly went inside. They walked to the empty bed and Nickolas whispered, �Get some rest.� She laid down and he covered her up. �I�ll be on the sofa if ya need me.�
�You�re not joining me?�
�No.�
�But I want you to stay.� She moved over and patted the spot beside her. �Please?� She smiled.
�Just for a little.�
�Ok.� He laid beside her and she put the blanket over him.
�So tell me something about you?�
�Like what?�
�Anything interesting.� He smiled. �Did ya always live in California?�
�I lived in Florida until I was eight then we moved here.�
�Did ya ever think about going back?�
�Sometimes; maybe one day if I can find a job that pays enough.�
�I�m sure you can.�
�Florida has the best beaches.�
�Yes they do.�
�You were there?�
�Until I was, like, ten.�
�What part?�
�A place around Tampa. You?�
�A place around Miami.�
�Cool.�
�Yeah.� They both yawned. �Did ya always want to be a cop?�
�Pretty much, yeah.�
�Is there anything else ya want to do?�
�Get married and raise a family.�
�That�d be nice.� He nodded. �Any potential missus�?�
�Well there�s only one girl I can see myself with in the future and having a family right now.� She just looked at him. �I�ve never felt this way about anyone the way I feel about her.�
�Oh.� She sighed. �Does she have a name?�
�Yeah�you.�
�You? As in the word or the letter?� He chuckled and they looked at each other. �What?�
�As in the word.�
�Oh.� He chuckled again. �Oh.� She looked away from him and he smiled. �Who would name their kid �You�?�
�No one and I�m hoping you are just tired.�
�Yes.�
�Good.� She looked at him and he smiled.
�Me?� He continued smiling. �I�m �you�?�
�Yeah.�
�Oh my�I feel like an idiot.�
�Well don�t, alright.�
�You can see us having a family?�
�Yes I can.�
�Wow�uh�um�� She took a breath. �I have no idea what to say.�
�It�s ok. I don�t expect ya to say anything.�
�I�m�flattered or honored or whatever.� She smiled.
�I actually think we have a really good chance of having a future together.�
�Really?� He nodded and she waited a moment before saying anything. �I don�t want ya to take this the wrong way and get all excited, but I think we�d have a chance also.�
�Really?�
�Mm-hmm.� He smiled.
�But I�m a cop.�
�I know and that�s why I don�t want ya to get excited and shit on the subject.�
�I won�t.�
�I got to learn what I want and stuff.�
�I understand.�
�Thank you.�
�Anytime.� She grinned and he kissed her.

Jenai rolled over in bed and reached for Nickolas, but he wasn�t there. She moaned and put her head under the covers, as they were pulled back. She opened her eyes and saw Jakob sitting there.
�What do you want?� Jenai asked.
�Just checking up,� Jakob replied.
�Well go away.� She yawned and stretched.
�Nick said you guys were up talking all night.�
�What time is it?�
�Going on one.� She grabbed the cover.
�Thank you.� She covered herself back up. �Just two more hours sleep.�
�You only take the time to get to know people, guys especially, if ya like them.�
�Nick is a nice guy, now go away.�
�And you�re interested.�
�I am not.�
�Yes you are.�
�He�s a cop, Jakie.�
�I don�t care, because you�re interested.� She threw the cover back.
�I am not.�
�Don�t lie to me. You want Nick just as much as Justin wants you.�
�Whatever.� She turned her back and he laid behind her, putting his arms around her. �This is official police business.�
�But you love being stuck here with him.�
�I don�t get involved with cops.�
�But I know you�re going to make an exception for Carter.�
�You only wish.�
�I just want you happy.�
�Will you leave me sleep? And get off me.� She pushed him away.
�You only act like this if you�re interested in someone.�
�Damn it, Underwood, I ain�t interested in anyone, especially Detective Carter.� She got out of bed. �Son of a bitch.�
�Uh�sorry to interrupt,� Nickolas began and they looked, �but the Sarge wants to know what ya want from Stefano�s.�
�Alright,� Jakob said getting up. �Do you want anything, JJ?�
�I ain�t hungry,� Jenai replied getting clothes out of her suitcase.
�Ok,� Jakob said walking out.
�I�ll let ya get changed,� Nickolas said.
�Yeah,� Jenai said, as Nickolas turned to go out and she looked. �Nick?� He stopped and looked.
�Yeah.�
�Um�could you just forget what I said? Jakob was pissing me off and I tend to say things I don�t mean.� He nodded and grinned. �Thank you.�
�Dani said not to take any bad remarks from you personally. I ain�t going to take that personal, because I know otherwise.� They smiled at each other and he walked out closing the door.
