Sunshine rolled over and reached for Nickolas, but he wasn�t there. She moaned disgustedly and rolled back over. She laid there a few minutes more and then sat up. She yawned and stretched and looked around the room for Nickolas, but didn�t see him. She pulled the covers tighter around her and just sat there smiling. She thought about the night before and how much she enjoyed it. It wasn�t bad for her first time and she would never forget it. She was ready to get out of bed when she heard whistling and looked to see Nickolas walking in. They looked at each other and he smiled as he walked over to her.
�Good morning, Sweets,� Nickolas said sitting on the bed beside her and kissing her.
�Good morning to you,� Sunshine said kissing him in return and lying back, taking him with.
�I was hoping to be back before you got up. I had some calls to make.�
�Whatever.� She kissed him again. �You didn�t walk out so it doesn�t matter.�
�I never would.� He moved the blanket from her and smiled. �Very nice.�
�So how was I? I wasn�t horrible was I?�
�Of course not. You were great. How was I?�
�Amazing.� He kissed her neck and entwined his fingers in her brown curls, as she moaned softly in his ear. �Very amazing.� She took a hand through his hair, as he started kissing her chest and the phone rang.
�Damn it.� He stopped what he was doing and they looked at each other. �Don�t go anywhere. Give me five minutes and I�ll come back and finish.� She just smiled and Nickolas kissed her before getting up and leaving the room. Sunshine laid there a couple minutes then got up. She grabbed one of Nickolas� long jerseys and a pair of boxers and stuck them on. She was ready to walk out of the room when she noticed a box wrapped in green paper sitting on the dresser. She walked over and realized it was the birthday present she got for Nickolas. She was disappointed that he never opened it. She picked up the box and noticed a white envelope she wrote his name on. She picked that up and discovered it was unopened also. She stood there wondering why Nickolas would never open them if he was so much in love with her. She set the box and envelope on the dresser where she found them. She walked back over to the bed and sat down just as Nickolas walked in. They just looked at each other not saying a word. After about a minute Nickolas walked over to the closet. Sunshine stared at the floor and Nickolas looked back at her. �What�s wrong, Sunnie?�
�You never opened your birthday present from me.� They looked at each other and the doorbell rang. They just continued looking at each other, as it rang again. �I�ll get it.� She climbed over the bed and Nickolas watched her go out the door. Sunshine ran downstairs, as the doorbell rang a third time, and went to the front door. Before unlocking the door she looked out the window and saw Kevin. She unlocked the door and opened it to leave him in.
�Hey, Sunn,� Kevin said stepping inside.
�Hi, Kevin,� Sunshine said closing the door. �Nick�s upstairs. Should I go get him?�
�I want to know how you�re doing first,� Kevin replied.
�Right now I�m better than yesterday,� Sunshine answered thinking about the night before, as they walked to the parlor. �Me and Nick had a long talk last night.�
�You just talked I�m hoping,� Kevin said looking at what she was wearing.
Sunshine looked at the clothes she was wearing and just smiled at Kevin. Kevin looked at her and raised an eyebrow then she said, �We just talked. We didn�t leave anything happen. Besides, Kev, you know me better than that.� She smiled. �I�m not married.�
�I know,� Kevin said. �I�m sorry.�
�That�s alright,� Sunshine assured him then saying really fast, �This is what I slept in. To be honest I had no intentions of sleeping here last night.� Kevin looked at her and she continued just as fast, �I kind of got too close to the water and the waves got me making me lose my balance. I stuck this on while waiting for my clothes to dry and I guess I fell asleep on the sofa.�
�You didn�t have to explain,� Kevin said. �I just wanted to know how you ended up here last night instead of the condo like you told me. I went there last night to see if you were all right.�
�Sorry,� Sunshine apologized. �It�s a long story and I don�t want to talk about it right now so I�m going to go get Nick.� Sunshine quickly left the parlor and went back upstairs. She walked into the bedroom where Nickolas was in the middle of changing. She stopped and said, �I�m sorry.� She turned to go back out but Nickolas stopped her, pulling her back. Sunshine turned back around and looked at him. �What?�
�You don�t have to go,� Nickolas said.
�Yes I do,� Sunshine said. �You�re in the middle of changing.�
�Sunnie,� Nickolas began, �you already saw me in less than this last night. I�m covered anyway.�
�Nick, remember what happened last night?� Sunshine asked refreshing his memory. �We had sex.�
�I thought we talked about that last night after it happened?�
�We did. I just don�t want it to happen again. Kevin�s downstairs anyway.�
�Oh.� They looked at each other and Nickolas finished getting dressed, as Sunshine stood there waiting for him to get done. He looked at her and said, �Your clothes are on the bed.�
Sunshine looked passed him to the bed and said, �Thanks.� Nickolas just gave her a quick smile and walked by her. She grabbed his arm and said, �Nick.� That�s all she said, as she they looked at each other and she smiled. She knew that�s all she had to do for Nickolas to kiss her. She put her arms around him, not wanting to leave him go and he didn�t want to leave her go. They continued kissing and Sunshine pushed him onto the bed. She got on top of him and started kissing him again.
They kissed a few minutes and Nickolas said, �Sunnie��
�I want you, Nicky.�
�And I want you too, but now�s not the time.� She looked at him.
�Why not?�
�Kevin�s downstairs remember?� She sighed and got off him. �I�ll make it quick.� He smiled and kissed her, as she put her arms around him. She didn�t want to leave him go, but did and he left the room. Nickolas went downstairs and found Kevin sitting in the kitchen waiting patiently with a cup of coffee. Kevin looked at him, as he said, �Sorry to keep ya waiting, Kev, I was changing.�
�That�s alright,� Kevin said. �What�s going on between you and Sunn?�
�Who said there is something going on?� Nickolas asked in return and Kevin just looked at him. �I don�t know. One moment she�s so warm and loving towards me and then the next she�s so cold and hateful.�
�But she wants to be with you right?� Nickolas nodded. �Then that�s the important thing.�
�She says she wants to be with me, but not right now. I�m probably just trying too hard to get her back.�
�She is 23, Nick. She�s still young and most likely not ready to settle down yet. I used to know a guy who felt the same way until this lovely young lady came into his life and making him fall head over heels.�
�But I know she�s the one, Kev. I just need to convince her to give me another chance.�
�No, Nick, you can�t convince her. She needs to decide for herself if she wants to give you a second chance.� Nickolas just looked at him.
�Sorry to interrupt,� Sunshine said stepping into the kitchen. �But I�m going to go.�
�Bye,� Kevin said, as Sunshine turned and started to walk out.�
Nickolas stopped her by saying, �Sunnie, are you coming back so we can finish our conversation?�
�Um�� Sunshine began, as she turned around, �I-I-I don�t know.� Nickolas and Kevin looked at her. �Nick, I can�t do this. I can�t keep making you think we�re getting back together right now. I�m sorry.� She walked out before Nickolas and Kevin could say anything.
�Do you see what I mean?� Nickolas asked. �Just upstairs she was kissing me and not wanting me to go, but now she�s telling me she can�t do it. I don�t understand her.�
�She�s a woman whose not sure what she wants,� Kevin said. �Just give her the space she needs and she�ll come back.�
�I gave her space before and she didn�t come back.�
�Yes she did, but you pushed her away.�
�Don�t remind me. That was the biggest mistake in my life. I ain�t going to make anymore mistakes with Sunnie.�
�Then start now. Let her come back on her own. When she does, and you�re still in love with her and want to be with her, don�t push her away and tell her how much you love her, but first listen to what she has to say.�
�But I already told her how much I love her.�
�She wasn�t ready to hear those three little words, Nickolas, and when she�s ready she wants the moment to be perfect.�
�How do you know all this stuff?�
�Honestly, Sunn wanted me to talk to you. What I�m telling you is what she told me yesterday.� Kevin got up. �Nick, just think about what I told you. It�ll mean a lot to Sunshine.� Kevin left the kitchen, as Nickolas looked out the window. Nickolas stood there thinking a moment then got his keys off the table and left.
