Sunshine laid on her sofa and tried to get some sleep. She was supposed to meet Bradley to have a picnic, but cancelled since she wasn�t feeling well. She was almost asleep when she heard a knocking sound. She opened her eyes and just thought it was the television. She put the television on mute and closed her eyes again. She heard another knock and moaned. She laid there another minute until she heard the knock again and realized someone was at her door. Still wrapped in her blanket, Sunshine got up and walked to the door. She looked out the peephole and then slowly unlocked and opened the door.
Bradley�s smile turned to a frown when he said, �Baby Girl, you look awful.� Sunshine left him in and shut the door. �Why didn�t you tell me you were sick?�
�I didn�t want to worry you,� Sunshine answered, as they walked down the steps. �It�ll probably go away in a couple hours anyway.�
�Did you take any medicine?� Bradley asked.
�I don�t have any,� Sunshine replied moaning and Bradley sighed shaking his head. �I hardly ever get sick so I don�t have any.�
�Sit down and let me make you something to eat,� Bradley said sitting Sunshine on the sofa.
�I�m not hungry,� Sunshine said. �I just want to sleep.�
�You need to eat something. When was the last time you ate?�
�Yesterday afternoon sometime.�
�It�s been 24 hours.� He got up. �I�m making you something to eat.�
�I�m not hungry.�
�You�re eating something.� She started coughing.
�What are you doing here anyway?� Bradley sat beside her again.
�I decided to come to you since you couldn�t come to me.�
�That�s really sweet.� She laid her head on his shoulder.
�I really didn�t want my girlfriend to be alone.� There was a knock at the door. �I�ll get it.� He got up, as Sunshine laid back down. After covering her up he went and answered the door. �Hey, Nick, what brings you by?� He left him inside.
�I came by to talk to Sunnie, but it looks like you two are busy so I�ll come back later,� Nickolas said.
�Don�t go man,� Bradley said. �We�re not doing anything. I just got here a few minutes ago and Sunn�s sick.�
�What�s wrong with her?� Nickolas asked looking by Bradley down to the sofa.
�I�m not sure,� Bradley said, as they walked down to the living area. �Hey will you do me a favor and stay with her while I go and get her some medicine?�
�Sure,� Nickolas said.
�Thanks, man,� Bradley said then left.
Nickolas watched as Bradley went out the door, and then heard Sunshine start moaning. He walked over to the sofa and sat down beside her. He touched her face and said, �Sunnie, you�re burning up.�
�I�m fine,� Sunshine said, as Nickolas got another blanket to put over her. �It�ll go away in a couple hours.�
�I doubt that.� He wrapped her in the blankets.
�Will you stop? I�m not that sick where I can�t take care of myself.�
�I�m taking care of you while Brad�s gone. So stop fighting with me.�
�But I can do it myself.� She tried to make him stop, but didn�t succeed and she gave up.
�You�re so stubborn. I�m making you something to eat and no arguments.� He got up and started to walk to the kitchen.
�That�s why you love me so much, ain�t it?� He stopped walking and went back over to her. �You don�t have to lie either, because I can tell when you are.�
�Sunnie�� He sat beside her. �I ain�t going to lie to you about loving you, you already know I do, and right now we�re not going to discuss why I do. Just lay here and relax while I make something to eat.�
�Fine, since I ain�t going to win this one.� Nickolas fixed her covers then went to the kitchen. He was in there for about ten minutes until he came out with a bowl of soup. He looked at Sunshine who was still lying on the sofa with her eyes closed. Thinking she was asleep, he turned to go back to the kitchen then stopped when he heard Sunshine say, �I�m not sleeping.� He looked back at her as she looked at him.
�Maybe you should be.� He walked back over to the sofa and put the bowl on the coffee table. He sat next to her and they looked at each other. �Not once did you ask me where Fischetti went.�
�Where is he?�
�He went to get you some medicine.�
�You guys worry too much. I�m fine.�
�Did you look in a mirror lately? Not being rude, but you look awful.�
�Thanks.�
�Are you going to eat your soup or do I have to feed it to ya?� Sunshine just looked at him, as she sat up and he said, �I�ll take that as I have to feed it to ya.� He picked up the bowl and said, �You owe me for this.� She just grinned and took the bowl from him. �I can do this.�
�I can do it too.� Nickolas just looked at her, as she started eating. He sat there watching her and she didn�t even eat half of it before she ran to the bathroom to vomit. Nickolas followed her and when she was done he carried her back to the parlor after she brushed her teeth. He laid her on the sofa and covered her up. Nickolas picked up the bowl and was ready to walk again when Sunshine grabbed his arm. �Don�t go.�
�I�m just taking this stuff to the kitchen. Get some rest. I�ll be right back.� He removed her hand from his arm.
�No; stay with me.� She grabbed his arm again and Nickolas put the bowl back down.
�Alright I won�t go. I�ll stay here with you.� Sunshine sat up and put her arms around him. They looked at each other and she kissed him. He kissed her in return for a couple minutes before she stopped it and laid her head on his shoulder. Nickolas felt really bad that she was sick and that he was leaving in a few days for New York. He sat back on the sofa and left Sunshine lay her head in his lap. He smoothed the hair back from her face and she looked at him. �I�ll always be with you.�
�And I�ll always be with you.� He smiled and kissed his fingers then put them on her lips. �I was hoping we could talk, but since you�re sick it can wait.�
�About what?�
�That night we spent together.�
�What about it?�
�Well ya left the morning after�well the afternoon after.� Sunshine looked at him and sighed.
�I just got scared and didn�t know what to do.�
�Oh.�
�It�s nothing personal, Nicky.�
�I didn�t think it was.�
�I�m glad.� She coughed and moaned.
�Why don�t you just get some sleep and we can talk about this later.� She looked at him and took his hand and kissed his fingers then closed her eyes.
Nickolas just sat there with her the next twenty minutes and dozed off himself for a few minutes. He woke up when he heard the door open and looked to see Bradley. Bradley saw them on the sofa and Nickolas motioned for him to be quiet.
�How is she doing?� Bradley whispered.
�Sick,� Nickolas whispered in return. �She just fell asleep. I made her some soup, but she threw it up. She ain�t sick though according to her.�
�She said the same thing to me,� Bradley stated.
Nickolas got up trying not to wake Sunshine. He fixed her covers, as she moved and he and Bradley waited to see if she would get up. When she didn�t Nickolas said, �Hey, man, I�m going to get going.�
�Ok,� Bradley said. �I�ll let ya know if she gets any better.�
�Alright,� Nickolas said walking away. As he got to the door he looked back at Sunshine, as Bradley sat down beside her. He watched for a moment then opened the door and left.
