The girls sat in the motel room that Sunshine and Josephine were sharing. Venus was standing in the doorway looking out, as Danielle sat at the table and played solitaire and Destiny and Josephine sat on the one bed looking at magazines. Sunshine sat on the other bed and looked at the napkin Nickolas had given her at McDonald�s; the one with his cell phone number on it.
She had no idea what to do. She wanted to call him, but another part didn�t want to. She really liked him, but she wasn�t sure if he liked her in return. Well he had to if he gave her his cell number. And last night he told her to call anytime. Then again he could just be testing to see how easy she was. But she wasn�t easy. She wanted to call him though and be easy with him. Then again she didn�t want to call and seem pushy or whatever. She had no idea what she was going to do. It wasn�t everyday she got a number like Nickolas�. And it wasn�t everyday she came so close to kissing someone like Nickolas just to be interrupted by Danielle Horowitz. She sighed and continued looking at the napkin.
�So, Sunn,� Venus began getting her friend�s attention. Sunshine looked from the napkin and at her friend. �What did you and Nick talk about last night out on the balcony? You were out there a pretty long time.�
�The starry sky,� Sunshine replied.
�Yeah right,� Venus said.
�I�m not lying,� Sunshine stated. �We talked about that and the concert.�
�We�ll believe that when they show up here at the motel,� Danielle said.
�Fine; don�t believe me,� Sunshine replied getting up off the bed and stuffing the napkin in her pocket.
�I believe ya, Sunnie,� Josephine said not looking from her magazine.
�Thanks, Buddy,� Sunshine said. �Because it�s the truth.� She then lied, �we were silent half the time.�
Venus walked back in and closed the door while saying, �You were silent. That�s a first.�
�Shut up,� Sunshine said.
�Like I said,� Danielle began, �we�ll believe it when the Backstreet Boys show up here.�
�Alright,� Sunshine said getting her soda from the refrigerator and walking over to the window. She moved the curtain a little and looked out.
�And why do you keep stuffing that napkin in your pocket?� Danielle wanted to know and they all looked at Sunshine, as she looked at them.
�No reason,� Sunshine lied, as there was a knock at the door. �Maybe that�s the Backstreet Boys.� She smiled.
�Yeah right,� Destiny said turning the page. �And AJ and I are going to make hot passionate love tonight.� She rolled her eyes. �They don�t even know where we�re staying.� Sunshine just smiled, as Venus opened the door. She opened the door and the girls looked and saw the Boys standing there smiling.
�Whoa!� the girls said and Sunshine shook her head.
�Hi,� Kevin said with a smile.
�Now do you believe me?� Sunshine questioned, as the girls just looked at her. �That�s all we talked about.�
�What are you doing here?� Danielle asked, as Venus left the guys in.
�How�d you know where we were staying?� Destiny also asked.
�One question at a time,� Kevin said and they all laughed. �We came to invite you guys to our show tonight.�
�Backstage,� Brian added and the girls smiled.
�It was Nicky�s idea actually,� Howard stated and Sunshine looked at him knowing there was a reason why he suggested it.
�I just thought it�d be a nice gift for you�ladies,� Nickolas replied looking at Sunshine. �And I asked Sunnie last night what motel you were at.�
�Told ya they�re into us,� Destiny whispered to Josephine.
�What was that?� Alexander asked.
�I don�t cuss,� Josephine lied and the girls started laughing.
�Yeah right,� Sunshine said rolling her eyes.
�Will you ladies come?� Howard practically begged.
�If you�re going to beg then yeah,� Sunshine answered.
�I wasn�t begging,� Howard said.
�And I was born yesterday,� Sunshine remarked.
�Dike shut up,� Josephine said then whispering to Sunshine, �That�s Howie Do Me Rough.�
�So,� Sunshine said. �And that�s AJ McLean beside him. They�re regular people like us, Josie, no biggy.�
�Anyway,� Venus said. �We�ll meet ya there.�
�We�ll send a car,� Kevin stated.
�Um, ok,� Danielle said. �What time should we be ready by?�
�Is five good?� Kevin asked.
�Sure,� Sunshine replied.
�I don�t know if I can be ready by then,� Josephine stated. �I can try though.�
�We�ll be ready,� Danielle said. �No need to worry.�
�Alright,� Howard said, as they turned to go out the door. �The car will be here at five then.�
�Great,� the girls said. �Bye.�
The guys walked out the door and Nickolas was the last one and he stopped and looked at Sunshine saying, �Hey, Sunnie.� She looked at him. �Don�t forget your jacket.�
�I�ll try not to,� Sunshine said smiling when Nickolas smiled. They looked at each other a moment then Nickolas was pulled out the door. �Maybe I�ll forget it by �accident� anyway.� She quickly walked back over to the window and looked out. Nickolas and Brian walked by the window and Nickolas looked at her and smiled. She continued smiling herself and waited to see him again. She saw him a few seconds later walking to the van and he looked up at her and smiled. She smiled and waved to him, as he waved back and she sighed delightfully. She continued smiling and watched, as the van drove off.
�What was that all about?� Danielle asked and Sunshine looked at her while closing the curtain.
�Sunnie?� Venus said. �Only your closest friends and family call you �Sunnie�.�
Sunshine shrugged and said, �It was nothing.� She smiled and dropped herself on the bed.
�Don�t give us that shit,� Venus said. �What was it?� Sunshine just looked at the ceiling and smiled.
�Were you two making out last night?� Josephine wanted to know.
�No,� Sunshine said. �No thanks to Dani.�
�What�d I do?� Danielle questioned.
�Interrupted a perfectly good moment between Nick and me,� Sunshine said glaring at her. �He wanted to kiss me and we were, like, a millimeter away from locking lips.� She sighed and sat up.
�Sorry, dude,� Danielle apologized.
�Do you think you were going to kiss?� Destiny asked.
�I�m positive,� Sunshine said. �By the way he was looking at me last night on that balcony and the way I was looking at him. The moment was perfect before we were so rudely interrupted.�
�Oh yeah he wants you,� Destiny said. �Trust me; I saw the way he was looking at you just now.�
�And I saw the way AJ was looking at you,� Josephine said.
�Actually AJ was looking at you,� Venus pointed out and Destiny glared at her. �But I could be wrong.�
�Yeah,� Destiny said.
�They�re definitely into us,� Danielle said. �That�s one thing you got right.�
�I�m always right,� Destiny said. �By the way, Sunn, what did Nick mean by not forgetting you jacket?�
Sunshine looked at them and said, �So Des and AJ are going to make hot passionate love tonight. Don�t forget the condom. You have a habit of forgetting.�
�Don�t I wish we�re going to make hot passionate love,� Destiny said and they laughed. �Now answer my damn question. What�d Nick mean when he said not to forget your jacket?�
�Nothing,� Sunshine said and they looked at her. �Fine.� She sighed. �I got a chill last night and he put his arms around me to keep me warm. No biggy.�
�Awe, how sweet,� Josephine and Destiny said and Josephine added, �He wants you bad, girl.�
�If only that were true,� Sunshine said.
�It is,� Destiny said.
�Shouldn�t we be getting ready?� Sunshine questioned. �Not talking about a Sunshine and Nickolas relationship that probably won�t be.�
�It will happen,� Josephine said, as Sunshine and Danielle just shook their heads. �Trust me.�
�Does anyone have to pee?� Sunshine asked. �I�m going to get a shower.� They all shook their heads and Sunshine went into the bathroom.
�I�ll hook you and Nick up, Sunn!� Josephine yelled. �Don�t you worry about a thing.�
�Josephine, you need a new hobby,� Danielle said grabbing the magazine from her cousin and sitting on the bed, as Venus walked out.
