About a month later, a few days before the New Year, the girls were back down in Florida. They went home for the holidays to be with their families then rejoined the guys in Orlando. They were going to accompany them to New York to ring in the New Year. The girls spent the night at Brians this time around and were sound asleep in his parlor.
Brian walked downstairs and heard a knock at his door. He checked in on the girls and then walked to the front door, as there was another knock. He opened the door and saw Kevin standing there. He shook his head and left his cousin in.
I brought breakfast, Kevin said holding up the Dunkin Donuts bag and coffee.
Come in, Brian said closing the door. But not so loud. The girls are still sleeping.
Sorry, Kevin said, as they walked to the kitchen. Brian turned the coffee pot on and sat at the table with Kevin, as Venus and Josephine joined them.
They all sat there silent a few moments and then Josephine asked, So, Brian, hows it going with Des? We never get the chance to ask you so Ill do it now.
Its great, Brian said. Shes great. Everythings just great.
Thats great, Kevin said and they all laughed. You seem really happy.
I am, Brian said. She is so amazing. She really understands me and I understand her. Shes definitely ok with my busy schedule and ok with when were apart. She said that when we do get together its fun to make up for lost time.
Spare us the details, Josephine said.
Its nothing sexual, Brian said.
Only major make-out sessions, Venus said.
Like you and Howie dont have any of those, Brian replied.
Howie and I arent together, Venus reminded them. How many times to I have to remind you of that. Were just friends.
Friends with benefits, Josephine snickered and Venus rolled her eyes. Then again we never seen you two kiss so maybe youre right.
I am, Venus said and they all nodded, as Nickolas walked in and yelling came from the parlor.
They all ran in and Brian asked, Whats going on?
Howie just scared the shit out of Sunn, Destiny replied. I think its funny.
Well I dont, Sunshine said. I think I just made a puddle on the floor.
Eww, Alexander said making a face.
I thought I was going to have a heart attack, Sunshine said. The damn little shit.
Sunn, calm down, Danielle said. He was just having a little fun.
I dont care, Sunshine said. I couldve had a gun or something and shot him.
Just calm down, Danielle said. Breathe. Sunshine just looked at her and glared at Howard, as he stood there laughing.
What the hell were you thinking? Sunshine questioned.
Having a little morning excitement, Howard answered smiling and she continued glaring.
Well youre not funny, Sunshine stated. Thats the last thing I want when I wake up in the morning. Stay the hell away from me. She walked out of the room and they all looked at each other and then went to the kitchen.
What the hell are yall doing here already? Brian asked.
I brought breakfast, Nickolas said holding up the Dunkin Donuts bag and coffee, as did Alexander and Howard.
Kevin brought the same thing, Brian said.
Great minds do think alike, Danielle said taking a cup from Nickolas. Whats with the orange juice and milk, Nick?
Its for Sunnie, Nickolas replied. She doesnt drink coffee so I had to bring her something since I brought yall coffee.
Right, Danielle said, as Kevin looked at Nickolas and they all sat at the table except for Nickolas; who sat at the bar.
How was your sleep? Destiny asked Brian and they all rolled their eyes.
Fine, Brian said. And yours?
It couldve been better if you were beside me, Destiny stated and they all groaned.
This is my house, Brian reminded them. If ya have a problem then leave.
Or not do it in front of us, Josephine suggested and they all nodded in agreement, as Destiny and Brian smiled.
They all sat there a few moments before Sunshine joined them and asked, So whats for breakfast, girlies?
Dunkin Donuts, they all replied.
Ok, ok, Sunshine said. One voice wouldve done wonders. She picked up a cup and smelled it. I dont drink this shit.
Thats why I brought you something else, Nickolas said putting the orange juice and milk in front of her, as she sat across from him.
At least someone remembered, Sunshine said and they all looked at her. Not even my friends or family remember I dont like coffee.
Well I did, Nickolas said and she smiled.
Thank you, Sunshine said. So who has the Bavarian Cream? They all looked at each other. No one brought any.
I did, Nickolas said and Sunshine smiled.
Thank you, Nickolas, Sunshine said.
Youre welcome, Nickolas said, as Sunshine opened the box and got out a donut.
Hes just sucking up now, Alexander said.
Oh yeah, they all agreed and Sunshine and Nickolas looked at them.
It doesnt hurt to suck up once in awhile, Sunshine said. Yall should try it. She glared at Howard. Except you, because it wont work since youre a big ole meanie head.
Thank you, Howard said smiling and they all laughed.
They all sat there the next several minutes in silence while eating their donuts and drinking their coffee. Sunshine and Nickolas sat their watching each other with everyone watching them. They were clueless to the eyes on them and smiled at each other. Kevin watched them and sighed while shaking his head.
Sunshine started chuckling and Nickolas looked at her and asked, What?
You got a little something on your mouth, Sunshine said. It dont look too good. Nickolas wiped his mouth and she shook her head, as she reached over. She used her thumb to wipe it off, as Nickolas just watched her. There ya go. She licked the cream off her thumb and they all looked at them. Sunshine and Nickolas looked at each other and smiled, as Kevin got up and left the room.
