�Hey, man,� Nickolas said getting up. �Is Jack all right?�
�Yeah,� Alexander replied. �She just wants to get some rest.�
�Good,� Eva said. �She needs it if she wants a healthy baby.�
�That�s the important thing,� Nickolas said. �We both want this baby to be healthy.�
�And he or she will be,� Alexander said.
�Yeah,� Nickolas said. �Excuse me though.� He walked away and Eva and Alexander just looked at each other for the longest time.
�So,� Alexander said. �Jackie�s looking good.�
�Yes she is,� Eva said. �I�m glad she�s getting better.� He nodded. �It really scared me thinking I could lose her.�
�It scared all of us.� She nodded. �I was hoping we could talk.�
�About what?� She stood up.
�About what�s going on?�
�I told you I don�t want to talk about it.�
�But I think we should. We can�t let this thing go and let it be the end.�
�I told you what happened and that�s all ya need to know.�
�I think I have the right to know what all happened.�
�No you don�t and I just wish I you would leave it go. You know my biggest secret so just leave it at that.�
�But I want us to be together and by you not telling me the whole truth it�s not going to happen.�
�Then maybe you should take that as a hint that I don�t want to be with you. God, Alex, everything is not about you. Right now I don�t care what you want. Me being molested is about me and not about you.�
�It�s about us.�
�No it�s not.�
�Yes it is. We�re meant to be together and you know that. I don�t understand why you�re pushing me away. I want to help you and I can�t unless you let me.�
�Maybe I don�t want your help, Alex. Maybe I just want to forget this ever happened.�
�But you won�t be able to unless you open up to me.� She walked away from him. �Eva, c�mon. If you don�t tell me then this is the end. Is that what you want? Do you want it to be over?� She looked at him, as tears slid down her face. �Ev, I love you and what happened to you is not changing that anytime soon. I love you more for having the courage to tell me what happened to you.�
�This ain�t going to go away over night if I told you everything.�
�I know that, but we can work it all out.�
�You don�t know that.�
�Yes I do. I have enough faith in our relationship to believe we can get through anything: including this.� She shook her head.
�It�s better this way. It�s better with me someplace else so I don�t have to see you and have to talk about what happened.�
�I want you to be happy, Eva, and keeping this important thing from me is not going to make you happy. It�s going to eat at you day after day until it takes over your life.�
�No it�s not, because I ain�t going to let it. I�m the one in control here and not you or anyone else or this stupid secret of mine. I have control and nothing�s going to change that.�
�Please talk to me.�
�Leave me alone, Alex.� She walked away and Alexander just watched her.
�Damn it, Eva.� He gave a disgusted sigh and got out his phone and started dialing numbers. �I can�t believe it has to be this way, Baby, but you�re not giving me any other choice. I�m going to find out everything about what happened so you can have some closure.� He left the phone ring until someone picked up.
�Thank you for calling Tampa International Airport,� came a cheery voice on the other end. �How may I help you?�
�Yeah, this is Alex McLean and I need a ticket on the first flight to Detroit, Michigan.�
�There�s a flight leaving in thirty minutes that has a couple seats. I can get you on that if you can make it.�
�Definitely; I�ll be there in fifteen minutes.�
�Ok, sir.�
�Thank you.� He turned off the phone and walked from the waiting room.
