Spoiler warning: This poem includes spoilers for "The Return of the King".

Run for the hills! Another depressing poem from me! ;) Hehe. Once again it’s about Middle-Earth’s best Hobbits! Merry and Pippin!:)
Set during the chapter “The Black Gate Opens” during “Return of the King” when Pippin has marched off to battle and left poor Merry behind again.
Merry and Pippin belong to J.R.R. Tolkien.
Please read and review, feedback is greatly appreciated.

“I won't be left behind, to be called for on return! I won't be left, I won't” - Merry

“And I would not have it said of me in song only that I was always left behind! “ -Merry

Left Behind

I dreaded that this day would happen someday,
And the thought fills me with dismay.
You riding off to battle, me left behind,
Without you I will lose my mind.

The pain, the grief, the death of war,
I wish these things I had never saw!
And now, I fear that you will see them too,
But on your return I will comfort you.

I remember us in the Shire, just you and me,
We were happy, mischievous, carefree.
And yet, even though all we’ve been through,
Our happiness in the Shire still lives in you.

We’ve always been together, since you could walk.
I enjoy listening to you laugh, listening to you talk.
You are, and will always be, my brother at heart
But now they have torn us apart

Even though you are leagues away,
You are on my mind every second of everyday.
I will wait up all night and day to see,
You, dear Pip, being returned to me.
