Bunnie and the others had come home from a mission to find the whole village changed even just slightly. When Sonic and the gang go to check out what's left of the city, they arrive to find half of the place rebuilt! Things get a bit stranger when Sonic starts acting oddly, and even odder when he discovers that his parents are alive and in the village. But what strange things are yet to come? An alarm next to a monotor suddenly sounded off. "What's going on???" the shadow yelled. "The first test subject is trying to fight off, the Nanobots, sir! She's becoming very unstable!" the figure replied. "What about the second test subject?" "Stable, sir. He barely even knows about the tracker, much less about the Nanobots." The shadow growled. "Reprogram the Nanobots on subject one to terminate her. I don't want those 'Freedom Fighters' to know about my little creation just yet!" * * * A robotisized hand flexed itself as it slipped into a black leather glove by a flesh hand. "I can't believe this. Why am I going to dinner like this?" the figure asked itself, running its leather-gloved hand down its partcually robotisized chest. He pulled the electrical tape back over his chest. "I can't tell the others. I'd cause an alarm. I don't want to scare Sal," Sonic whispered to himself, gazing out the window of his dark hut. "But I'm a danger to stay here. He's gonna find me here and then what will I do?" His eyes glowed red as he gazed at the cresent moon that lit up the night that was to mark the begining of the end for the freedom fighters. ~~~~~~~~~~ Chapter 1: ~~~~~~~~~~ "So you're Sonic's parents?" Princess Sally asked Mr. and Mrs. Hedgehog. "Why yes. Jules was very close friends with your father during the Great War, your Highness," Bernie said to Sally. Sally stopped chewing her peas and swallowed. Hard. "You knew my father?" Sally asked anxously. "Yes, Princess," Jules stated. "But that was before Julian took over and-" "Banished him to the void," Sally finished sadly. "Yes. But most Robians have come to know it as-" Jules started. "The Zone of Silence," Sonic suddenly said at the same time Jules said it, staring off into blank space. "Well, how'd you know, son?" Jules asked, looking at Sonic strangely. Sonic shrugged. "Lucky guess." "Or, prehaps Sonique tis quite te psycho," Antoine suggested, being quite serious. "That's psycIC, Ant," Tails piped up from the end of the table. "Yea, perhaps," Sonic said, sighing. Sally looked at him strangely. "Sonic, are you okay?" she asked. "Hmm? Oh, yea, Sally. I'm okay. Just need a bit of sleep," Sonic replied. "May I be excused?" "Yes, you may," Sally said, with a bit of surprise in her tone. After Sonic left, Sally said to Bunnie, "That was very strange. Sonic asks to be excused. He just leaves!" "Yea, Shugah, and did y'all noticed the black leather glove? That gives me the heebie jeebies!" Bunnie said. "'Aunt' Sally! Isn't electrical tape supposed to be for machines?" Tails asked. "Yes, Honey. Why'd you ask?" Sally asked. "Well..." Tails started. ~~~~~~~~~ Chapter 2 ~~~~~~~~~ Sonic wandered aimlessly around KH, thinking to himself. That's when he heard the scream coming from- "Katsy Felyne," Sally said, standing in the the hut of the girl cat that oviously attempted suicide or was a victim of anicide (Animal killing an animal). It was detemined anicide when Sally and the KH Meds discovered Katsy was nearly robotisized. "No...." Sally whispered. "This can't be....she was being-" "-robotisized." finished General Cor, head of the army of Combots that stood just outside of KH. General Cor looked like a Combot himself, except he was a lot smarter than he seemed, and he wore this type of helmit with what looked like a pink feather popping out of the back of the helmit. All the other Combots stood in a line facing the general while he marched back in forth in front of them, giving them orders. "Now, as of 2100 hours, the Great Snively has ordered us to locate and invade the target known as the royal retreat, Knothole Village. Our goal: to scrap what is left of our old new recruit, alias 'Katsy Felyne' and to retrieve our other new recruit, alias 'Maurice "Sonic" Takeshi Hedgehog'," General Cor said. One nervous 'bot was standing at one end of the line of combots, peeking out front at the back of the general. He, who was NOT a combot, was half the size of a combot, and was wearing an oversized army helmit. He was a blue robotic hedgehog called- "METALLA!" the general yelled, whipping around to look at him. Metal Sonic straightened up. "SIR! YES SIR!" MS droned like a soldier. "Master Snively has granted you the honor of capturing the hedgehog yourself. Are you up for the challange?" Cor asked. "SIR! YES SIR!" he said. But Metal Sonic had another plan in mind... ~~~~~~~~~ Chapter 3 ~~~~~~~~~ Alone he sat on the hill that overlooked the village. Sonic stared at his now roboisized arm, chest, and legs. There was no way he could return to the village in this condition. He thought how he could never see Buniie or Tails or even Ant. Then he thought of Sally. How he could never see Sal again...then, he did did something he never did before. A single tear of saddness fell from his eye. It slipped down his cheek and down to the ground. The minute it hit the dirt, there was a shriek that came from the village. * * * Combots ran around the village, shooting civilains and tearing the place apart, searching for Sonic. Sally and the others ran out from the lodge to see what the commotion was all about. She gasped when she saw combots all around. Bunnie ran in and came out of the lodge with pulse blasters and handed them to everyone. THen she turned her robotic arm into a pulse blaster. "Let's get'em, shugahs," she said. The others ran off. Sally looked around to see several huts were set on fire. She gasped when she saw that one of them among hers and Tails's was Sonic's. Seeing that he was nowhere to be found, she kicked down his door and peeked inside. The whole room was on fire but luckily Sonic was NOT in it. Breathing a sigh of relief, she turned around to leave. She barely made it out when she was tripped by General Cor himself. She looked at him and glared. "Cor." "So you remember me, Princess," he said. "I wish I hadn't," she said. "Yes, but that isn't the least you remember, is it?" he asked. "What do you mean?" she growled. "Oh come, come, Princess! Remember that day you were robotisized (WAAAAAY back in Sonic ish #29)? BEFORE you were ordered to capture your fellow freedom fighters?" * * * "Mecha Sally! I need to see you in my quarters for a minute!" Snively to the robotisized princess. "Yes Sir," she droned. Later, Snively was marching in front of three robots: General Cor, Metal Sonic, and Mecha Sally. "You three have been chosen to help me in the completion of Project X, one that will be executed when I give the command. When my uncle is good and gone, two subects of my choosing will be tested of this new technology I have created. It was..." "...called the Nanobots," Sally repeated exactly what Snively said to Cor. "So THAT's what happened to Katsy," she whispered. "But did you ever yourself another subject?" Cor smiled wickedly. "When Doomsday rolled around, I suppose your so- called 'boyfriend' never told you about the day that he was finally captured and nearly robotisized. Well, he did manage to escape, but not without a price. Just before the robotisizer tube bursted, Snively managed to send an invisible thread on Nanobots into Sonic and a tracker. Which means-" "-Snively knew ever since Doomsday where we were!" Sally gasped. "Very good Princess," Cor said, pulling a blaster to her head. "Too bad you won't live enough to tell the others." Sally closed her eyes, awaiting her fate. There was a blast. But she did not feel any pain. Nor the dripping of blood running down her face. She opened her eyes to see a stand off between Cor and a half robotisized Sonic. "Leave the village. Now," Sonic ordered, pointing a smoking pulse blaster at the damaged general. Cor pointed a finger at Sonic. "You will be one of us. Just you wait. Your programming will take control. And then will you understand." ~~~~~~~~~ Chapter 4 ~~~~~~~~~ Cor and his troops had barely left the village when Sonic first spoke up. "Sally.....I...don't know what to say. I mean, ....this is my fault." Sally, still speechless over what's happening to Sonic, wandered over to him and put a hand on his cheek. "Don't blame yourself," she whispered. "I should be the one to blame. I knew-" "-ever since you were robotisized," Sonic finished. "I know." Sally chuckled a bit in spite of herself. "That's just like Snively you program his 'bots with a history recall." She stopped when she saw him looking into her eyes sadly like he's never going to see her again. That's when the full force of this matter struck her like lightning. She hugged him tightly and rested her head on his real shoulder. Sonic embraced her and ran his real hand through her hair. "Sal-" "Shh....it's going to be okay. We'll find a way to cure you. We can have Uncle Chuck hack into the main computer-" "Sal, listen," he said,holding her firmly by the shoulders. "This maybe the only way to stop Snively. Me staying here would mean endangering the citizens on KH, and possibly more fighting and casualties. I have to go to Robotropolis." "But Sonic-" "No buts, your highness. I'm sorry," he said, making his way towards the way out of KH. Sally gave him one last hug. "Promise me you'll come back." He looked into her eyes and said. "I promise." ~~~~~~~~~ Chapter 5 ~~~~~~~~~ More swiftly than he has ever moved before, Sonic made it to Robotropolis in record time. But now half of his other arm and part of his face was robotisized. I don't have much time he thought. But strangely enough, SWAT- bots did not react to his presence in the city. In fact, most of the SWAT- bots that were rebuilt were now just patrolling the city and not doing anything. Just then a SWAT-bot in a patrol craft came up to him. Sonic was sure he was about be made known of, but the SWAT-bot said, "Sonic Hedgehog, you are to follow me," it said. Weird, he thought. It seems to act like the old patrol 'bots back when King Acorn was still in command. The "patrol 'bot" brought Sonic in to where Robotnik's old command center was. The chair that Robotnik used to sit in was face away from Sonic, so he couldn't see who was sitting in the chair. Slowly, the chair turned to face Sonic. In place where he expected to see Snively was- "Metalla?!" Sonic yipped, surprised. "Whoa whoa! Calm down Sonic! I'm on yalls side!" MS said calmly but quickly. "What kind of trickery is this, MS?" Sonic growled. "None!" MS cried, standing up. "Snively was a fool. He built me too well. Soon I began learning great things that he could, or would, never teach me. I learned the difference between good and evil, and saw how wrong I was to help Snively." "Well I'll be," Sonic said to himself. "A 'bot with a concionce." "When Snively and his troops left for the Great Forest to set up for the next attack on Knothole Village, that's when I took command. I reprogrammed the SWAT-bots to act like the old patrol 'bots of Mobotropolis just before Robotnik took over. I'm trying to reverse all that he did." "Wait a minute. Snively's going to attack KH?!" "Yea, that's basicly it..." A patrol 'bot ran in and handed MS a report. "Damn," he cursed. Sonic looked surprised. *A 'bot that can curse? Man, he was right. Snively DID built him too well*. "What's going on, MS?" Sonic asked. "Snively's taken half the force with him to the Great Lakes (No refrence to Earth, people). There's a power souce greater than any Chaos Emerald or Power Ring ever known hidden underneath the waters of on of the lakes. Sonic, if you don't stop him now, he might unstablize the power and everything within a 100-mile radius will blow, including-" "-KH and Robotropolis!" Sonic said. "But what about the Combots attacking KH???" "Oh don't worry about Mr. 'Combot Cor'. I'll handle him and get to the Princess and warn her to evacuate the Village A.S.A.P." MS said. Sonic shook his head. "You aren't gonna make it five feet within the village before being shot down by a FF. Here-" Sonic took off his vest and put it on MS. Then he handed him a note. "When you get in, call out 'Freedom Fighters Unite!'. Every citizen should know this code as the translation that you are an ally. Then request to see the princess. Tell her that I sent you, then give her this note. Got it?" MS nodded, he started to leave when Sonic grabbed his shoulder. "Oh, and can you please deliver this message to Sally for me? Tell that I said that I will always love her." "I will," he said, then left. Sonic left to take off for the Great Lakes. ~~~~~~~~~ Chapter 6 ~~~~~~~~~ "What's the progess of the tunnelization?" Snively asked a nearby combot. "79% completed, sir," it said. Snively and the other combots were in a tower that overlooked the Great Lakes. Snively rubbed his hands together. "Soon that power will me mine. I will destory every last freedom fighter on this planet with it and then-" A laser blast in front of him made him jump. "PARTY'S OVER, SNIDELY!" Snively looked up to see a nearly robotisized Sonic standing in the tower with him. Only part of his face and shoulder wasn't robotisized. "Well well. If it ain't MECHA Sonic, returning to serve his new master." "Shut up, Snidely. I'm not one of your machines that you can order around. YET," Sonic shot back. "Oh but you soon will be. COMBOTS! RESTRAIN HIM!" Snively ordered. "What?!" Sonic said, suprised, as Combots held him firmly by the arms. "NO!" "Oh yes, Sonic. And when your programming takes control of you, I'm gonna have you attack your own kind!" "Not if my messager 'bot gets there first," Sonic said to himself quietly. * * * Sally and the others were trying to fight the Combots from getting though the gate to KH. One wolf guard was trying to fight 3 Combots at once when he saw one robot shoot past the others towards the lodge. *Why hasn't anyone shot that 'bot down?* he thought to himself. That's when he heard the 'bot vauguely calling out "Freedom Fighters Unite! Freedom Fighters Unite!" "You've got to be kidding!" he muttered to himself, taking off after the small robot, forgeting about the other combots. He just managed to catch up to the 'bot and pin him down. He pulled a blaster to his head when he heard, "HOLD YOUR FIRE, SOLDIER!" Princess Sally ran up and pushed him away, then helped MS up. "Are you REALLY one of us?" she asked him. HE pulled at the vest Sonic gave him. "I've been sent here by Sonic himself to give you this message," he said, handing her the note. She opened it and read: "Princess, I'm so sorry I lied to you. I'm not sure I'll even see you again. Snively's after some power source. MS here can fill you on details. Sal, I will always love you. Sonic" Sally started crying. MS gave her a hug. "Don't worry, Princess. I have a gut feeling that lying now, but this time, it's a lie that won't hurt you." ~~~~~~~~~ Chapter 7 ~~~~~~~~~ "Ugh!" Sonic grunted, ramming the 'bots into each other. The shot where Sonic had fired his laser was now flaming the tower. He was fighting in extreme heat and if he didn't do something soon, he'd melt from it. Most of the combots were shorted out due to the extreme heat but Snively was still alive. He was making a get-away when Sonic leaped in front of him. "Going somewhere, SNIDELY?" Sonic taunted. Then he grabbed Snively by the collar and started to pin him down. Snively wouldn't go down so easily, so the both of them started rolling around the floor untill they came to the edge of the tower. Unfortunitly, Sonic was at the very edge. "You will never get rid of me hedgehog," Snively glared. Sonic's eyes widened as Snively kicked him in the stomach and off the edge. Sonic fell straight into of the lakes and didn't resurface. Snively sat there, laughing now that his worst enemy was now gone. His laugh turned into screams when the floor from underneath him collaped. He fell into a flaming infreno below where the meadow was caught on fire. As the rain came rolling in, the fire died down, leaving only ash, metal, and bones. ~~~~~~~~~ Epilougue ~~~~~~~~~ With MS's help, the combots and General Cor were defeated. Within a few months' time, the city of Mobotropolis was almost comepletely rebuilt and the smog created from Robotnik's factories cleared up. Princess Sally's crowning cerimony was to be in a few days. She sighed as she looked to her new advisor, Metalla. He looked back at her and said, "It's gonna be okay, Princess. I still stand by what I said 3 months ago." "I hope you're right, MS. I hope you are." * * * An elderly looking traveler stood outside the gates of Mobotropolis. He leaned against his cane as he said, "Someday we will meet again...Princess." He sighed as he walked back to his cabin, set deep within the Great Forest.
