After months of waiting, I finally got a job interview! It's hands on work, so I'm glad about that. I'm not going to give away too many details 'cause I don't want to jinx it.  It's located in Manhattan and I can ride my bike there from East new york brooklyn in about an hour (it takes about the same time by train). So if  I get the job transportation won't be a problem.

I interview pretty well, but my only little issue is when it comes down to the $$$.  What should I ask for a starting salary? I did my research and the average starting salary for an entry position auto tech (the last time I checked anyway) was $10.50. Now I know I'm not quite at the mechanic level yet but I'm above entry level. I was thinking about asking for about $12.00 an hour.  I called one of my army buddies and asked him. He said I should do it by calculating the cost of living for new york, how much would I need to make a year to live in the most affordble apartment inculding bills,and he went on and on with this crazy equation of his. Well anyway I'm not going to sweat it too much.
