tigress last day in the army
yesterday was my last day in the army. Today at 0600 hours (6AM) I left fort bliss gates for the last time and I already miss it. I went to say good bye to everybody while they were lined up to do pt. The 1st sergent gave his little good bye speech. I got weepy goodbyes and hugs from all the guys. My commander said "she'll be back". Then I hopped in my truck and I was off. As I left through the gate, I looked at the long line of cars that were trying to get in base and was glad that was not me. Then I was on I-10. As I look back el paso started to fade away into the horzion all too quickly. I started to have second thoughts. No longer will I be surrounded by the mountains and the desert scenery. No longer will gas be cheaper (and anything else). No more 5.75 for movies with military discount. No more keeping my truck unlocked and worry about alternate side parking in the morning. Now 2 days from now I'm gonna be back in Brooklyn in back in brownsville which is one of the worst places to live in new york. From what I heard from people I know, taxes are now 8.325%, the Trains are now $2.00, and jobs are hard to find. For a female mechanic, that is not good news....Well I figure all of that later. I'm going to enjoy my trip. If things are really that bad, I can always go back. Right now it is 7:35pm, and I'm in a winn-dixie parking lot typing this blog on my lap-top. I got in Dallas about in hour ago. After driving for about 12 hours, I need to get out eat and strench my legs for rrrrrreal! I don't want to get a blood cot in my leg and then get a heart attack or something. I went into WD and brought my long distance driving survival kit, which contains, 8- 6 packs of diet coke 1-pack of those Hersey's mintiures 3-single packs of those natural no-doz pills 2-gallons of spring water Then I walked around the whole store, just so that I can walk. After that I brought my items (plus some more stuff) and now I in my truck writing this blog. Now I going to drive to a fast food joint en route to buy my dinner. Then I'm going out on the road again. Hopefully I'll get to LA via I-20 by 1200AM. I'm going to GA near Altanta to my cuisin's house and stay for a day and then go on to n.y.
