COLONY IKE |
Colony "IKE" was a much larger and more organized COLONY than HANNA was. Only problem with this colony was the path. THE BOYZ of IKE decided to pound the Livin' Daylights outta all of CUBA costing my personal (limited time) experience to a cool show instead of a GREAT show. What worked out was this colony's size which turned out to be quite huge. There were hundred's of BOYZ involved in this colony. Here is one of the FEEDER BOYZ that I ran up against on Route 41 southeast of Naples, Florida heading down to the KEY WEST PARTY on September 9, 2008 which was the closest proximity to the Colony I could get. This BOY was hummin along at a neat 55 mph. He thought he was gonna try and zip one by me real quick -- but OHH NOO -- you got caught!!! Look real close and check out the hard to see horizontal ATTEMPTED ACT slippin out his backside. You can barely see the tip of the long funnel sneaking out his tail to the clear left in the pic. A tornado warning was issued for this BOY but he never went thru with the act. If it weren't for the party I would have stayed up with this sneaky one for further photo ops. |

Before arriving at Key West I made a stop by Key Largo to go up against a few more Feeder Boyz lining up across Largo. Here is a sample pic of one of these BOYZ. Of course on my arrival to KEY WEST one of the Feeder BOYZ to follow would have to pull a FAST ONE right across Largo. It figures -- OHH if I only had hung out another hour -- OHH WELL -- onto the PARTY!!! |

NOW the party of September 9, 2008 -- Here are some scenes across various locations of Key West showing wind and wave action from Tropical force winds that reached upwards to hurricane (Colony) force of 75 mph. SHould IKE's center have moved north of CUBA the fun we all had at Key West would have been easily intensified and more gratifying!! |

After this beating it was high time to attempt to dry off and get some grubb. Dining at a local eatery that had reserve generator power it was cool to meet up with old hunter friends that won't be seen till hunting srping season of 2009. Colony IKE moved on into the western Gulf of Mexico and onto Texas where a real THRASH & BASH party took place. Due to time and job restraints, sadly to say, I could not attend. However, before this last Hunting excursion of 2008 was over, I scored the last of what was to become the FOURTH complete horizontal rainbow of 2008. Never before in my hunting escapades have I come across a year with so many complete PEACE OFFERINGS!!! This along with the others will appear in the PEACE OFFERING link on my site and not on the CURRENT CLASSIC chart. |
